It's about time! But news just recently came out from "Kotaku" a very well known website for gaming news.
 

 

 Today, Kotaku can reveal that Star Wars: First Assault is a downloadable multiplayer shooter that was originally slated for release this spring. The game supports up to 16 players—one eight-person team of rebels and one eight-person team of Stormtroopers—as they face off on Star Wars worlds like Bespin and Tatooine.

And according to one person familiar with the project, First Assault is "step zero" to the heavily-rumored, highly-anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront III. If First Assault sells well—assuming it is released at all—the third Battlefront could be next.

Holy smokes, baloney, fudge, and mustard, NOW we're getting somewhere.

I played the first one way back and it was pretty great so I do hope it's true.

As an avid player of Battlefront 1 and 2, I really hope this rumor proves true.

God I hope so.

We can't assume anything regarding the Star Wars franchise since Disney purchased it. I'd wait for an official announcement before getting excited.

Keep in mind that the First Assault project has been put on hold, so it might not even come out at all. If there's going to be a new Battlefront I would bet it's on new consoles, so we wouldn't be seeing it for a while anyway.

YES. YES. YES. Let it be true. Some of my fondest gaming memories are attached to Battlefront.
