The World Ends With You crossover ~ Tribute album

Posted

Everybody would be lying if they said they didn't enjoy the soundtrack to THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU, filled with an eclectic mix of sounds and styles that work perfectly in the game's rendition of urban Shibuya. The music is so much of a staple to the hit Nintendo DS game that it is receiving a tribute album, THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU Crossover ~ Tribute, produced by series composer Takeharu Ishimoto!

THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU Crossover ~ Tribute will contain songs featured in the Japan-only GREE social game, THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU -Live Remix-, and live recordings from the 5th Anniversay Live Concert held last year in November will also be on the album as bonus tracks. You can even hear one of the remixed tracks on the official Crossover ~ Tribute website.

THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU Crossover ~ Tribute is priced at 2,100 Yen, which is approximately $22 USD and is scheduled for release on June 19th 2013. All of the remix fans out there will definitely enjoy this album with its fresh takes on new and old songs from THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU!

click on the link to go to the webpage to hear the song. Lyrics are faint, and you be fortunate if you can hear them. (if you can hear those faint lyrics, post the lyrics here. I'm hard of hearing so I can't tell if i hear lyrics.

This is a karaoke version. the song is called "March On"

the guitars has the Crisis Core feel. And the song is freaking epic. It's what I call "electronic rock"

My guess is this song is for new TWEWY mobile game "The World Ends With You -Live Remix-" which we have no update about since January, but it's nice to hear this song.

Speaking of TWEWY updates: It seems that the "Death March" (TWEWY Band that is based on a band in TWEWY game, also dubbed "Def Merch") is recording new songs, and live songs from their recent TWEWY concerts.

The band composes of

SAWA: Vocalist

Ritsu: Vocalist (She won the twewy contest for best vocalist a year ago on November)

Reiny: Vocalist (I have no idea who she is)

Takeharu Ishimoto: lead Guitar and synthesizer

YUI: Rhythm guitar

T$UYO$HI: Bass

Zax: Drums

from what the online translators say (I may be wrong) They are going to have a big concert at Shibuya Duo on May 10.

here's their website for more info: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/sem/page/subarashiki_live2nd/

check the video in the website to see couple pf performances they did live.

As for TWEWY -Live Remix- I heard it's Japan exclusive, but I haven't heard much about this game.

Last but not least, A new TWEWY album is going to be released on June 19. it will contain new songs from -Live Remix- and live recordings(the ones from Death March's previous performance, not in a style of "Three Minutes Clapping Live")

Here's the album cover of the new album. it's called "The World Ends With You: Crossover ~ Tribute"

Anyways I'm one of the hardcore TWEWY fans, and I just want to let you guys know what is going on in the TWEWY universe.

(Mods, I'm not sure which category this topic goes. Since TWEWY is a video game, I thought I put it in the video game category, but it's mostly music updates, so feel free to move it to media category if that's appropriate)

To be honest, I prefer this song over Jump Over Yourself's remix.

But thanks for the update!

No prob!

and I agree with you. March On is more catchy and the guitars got the CCFF7 feel. And when it went to chorus, I died.

Now, if I drop the D on my guitar, I should be able to play this song (Musicians will understand what dropping the D means)

EDIT

I now know how to play the whole song on guitar! Drop the D and its easy to play as long as you here the chords. As for the synth part in the chorus, it was hard to make out, but I figured it out, but it sounds close. I don't think it's exact, and as long as I have the chorus pedal on, it would make a somewhat okay synth sound.

Funny, when I first heard this song, I've been listening to it for 5 straight hours.

the lyrics are so hard to understand, lol, awesome song btw

DAYUM! didn't know Weiss was keeping an eye out on TWEWY.

Thanks for merging this though. If I see something I will be regularly updating.

someone managed to upload the song "March On" on youtube. I post it here for your convenience.

@keyblade_master: That's because this is a karaoke version. Yes the lyrics are hard to hear, but they are there. Later on, SE would release the vocal version, and ten bucks says its Ritsu who's gonna be singing it.

Thanks for updating this topic Weiss, let's both keep a look out for more updates.

It looks like I was right, Ritsu was singing March On. since the english version of March On is released, we should have no problem making out the lyrics.

Revelation.... its interesting.  a bit too rocky, but If I listen to it enough I should be able to play it on my guitar with the D dropped. I can't tell if it's Ritsu or Sawa singing.

since revelation is possibly sung in Jap (my headphones broke, so I can't listen to its full extent).

Now a mission for you guys. You have 1 month, to translate the lyrics of Revelation, as well as typing up the lyrics for the Eng. Ver. of March On. Post the lyrics here.

New pic posted on Facebook for the new crossover tribute album. It shows the whole list of songs for the album. From the looks of it, it is tentative, But there are some new songs on there as well.

here's the pic

It looks like we have new remixes for some songs. T$UYOSHI is the bass guitarist, so there's possibility that it will have a lot of bass in those remixes.

Can't wait to see some more goodies later.

  • 2 weeks later...

another sweet update. Thanks Weiss.

Now, I can't find the source, but I read somewhere that this album is the last time these familiar tunes (Calling, Twister, Someday, pretty much anything that was released since 2007 debut) are gonna be remixed. So after the album sales go well, as well as any form of TWEWY goodies, we will see the sequel as well as brand new TWEWY songs. I predict that if TWEWY 2 isn't shown in E3, it would be shown in either TGS or Jump Festa.

Now for my opinion of the songs.

Calling T$UYO$HI MIX: (If you don't know who T$UYO$HI is, scroll back up and check the spoilers on one of my comments) When I see that T$UYO$HI remixed Calling and Twister, I knew one of them was gonna be dubstep. I didn't expect Calling to be dubstep. It combines the Calling Kingdom MIX's piano with the original Calling song, and T$UYO$HI's remixing skills. This is a sample though, we have to wait till the album is released to hear the whole thing. I find this song interesting.

Twister T$UYO$HI MIX: DAAAYUUM!! I was factoring blown away from this song. It kept the guitar sounds that is played during any Twister mix, but the WHOLE System is different, I was expecting to hear the usual Twister mix but with T$UYO$HI's bass dropping mix, but it sounds like some pop song I heard on the radio, But BETTER. SAWA, the vocalist, is singing more slowly than the fast paced versions of Twister. My ears are going bonkers listening to this. This is a sample though, we have to wait till the album releases to hear the whole thing. I find this song factoring awesome.

Twister Live Version: NO THIS IS NOT LIKE THE THREE MINUTES CLAPPING LIVE. This version of Twister is the same as Twister (Original Version), But Performed LIVE. This version is from the 5th anniversary concert from November 2012 that Takeharu Ishimoto put together. It was a sold out concert. I listened to all the songs on the livestream and it doesn't sound electronic, just pure band-like music. I was able to decipher the guitar components of Calling and Twister easily through these live versions. Again, this is a sample, we have to wait till the release to hear the whole thing.

Of course we have the new mixes, which I am anticipated to hear (esp. the Make or Break mix). This album is not going to disappoint us TWEWY fans.

Oh, for those of you who want to hear the Someday Kingdom Mix in Japanese, I will provide you a link that leads to Takeharu Ishimoto's Soundcloud account that provides that song. Ritsu will be singing this version of Someday.

https://soundcloud.com/takeharu-ishimoto/someday-kingdom-mix-jp-demo

WHOOPS almost forgot, if you want to hear Calling live version, I will provide the link to Takeharu Ishimoto's soundcloud account as well which will play this song. Stephanie (another vocalist) will sing this version.

.... Screw it, here's Takeharu's account if you want to here all of the songs he uploaded onto Soundcloud.

Let's hope June 19th comes quickly so we can purchase *coughyoutubeuploadcough* this album!
