In a recent Square Enix Holdings briefing session, the to-be president, Yosuke Matsuda, talked about his plans for the company:

 

“After having succeeded the important role as the president, I plan on reviewing all Square Enix duties, business and assets on a zero-based budgetingstandpoint. Due to the radical change of environment, I’d like to fundamentally review what works and what doesn’t work for our company, then cast all of our resources towards extending what makes us successful and thoroughly squeezing out what doesn’t.

 

As far as a concrete plan on what to expect from us, I will further explain it on another briefing session in the near future, so I kindly ask for your patience. Thank you for your support.”

Good idea. Reviewing things never hurts and it could definitely be a good strategy to expand some things and weaken others if done right.

I like this president better already.

Yeah that led to Square Enix Los Angeles office being hit with layoffs. Which means it could happen to Europe, France, and even Japan offices.

Successful is in the eye of the beholder for all we know he could determine that the FF series has out stayed its welcome and decide no more new games should be made

I doubt he would do that. My guess is that he will start nudging Nomura a little bit to speed things up. Maybe.

I hope so. After waiting 7 years for Final Fantasy Versus XIII the President really need to force Nomura to hurry up with the game. And also need to give green light about the localization of Final Fantasy Type-0 (But I have much more hope for the fan translation of that game than SE themselves)
