The title of the next Assassin’s Creed game may be Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. A tipster sent Kotaku marketing materials for what is supposedly Ubisoft’s next game in the series, and it depicts another hooded assassin surrounded by what appears to be a group of pirates:

 

I am so excited if this is true. And pirates in the new game would be pretty epic.

Story:

The Protagonist of AC IV will be Edward Kenway, father of Hayththam Kenway. The game is set in the Carribean in 1715. Edward is a member of the assassin's but holds most allegiance to himself. He will be fighting a band of rival pirates. All pirate cliches will be avoided in the game, allowing Ubisoft to redefine piracy. Templars are searching for a mysterious place that, according to rumours, could give them an an advantage against the Assassins, and help them achieve world domination. However, the Assassins have plans of their own, and Edward somehow factors into them.

 

There will be 50 locations in the game, a few of which include Cuba, Nassau, tip of Florida, and The Bahamas, jungles, temples, villages, Mayan ruins, underwater and shipwrecks. There will be no Desmond. You play as an Abstergo Entertainment agent, a subsidiary of Abstergo. You're researching Edwards life to make a video game. Blackbeard, Charles Vane, Calico Jack, Anne Bonny, and Ben Hornigold will make appearances in the game. Bartholomew Roberts’ assault on 42 Portuguese ships, and the Spanish Armada wreck, will be shown. 

 

The gameplay:

You can customize and upgrade Edward's ship. You can use a spyglass to scout for ships in the distance. It will be open world ship exploration and you will need to upgrade the ship to get into certain areas.There will be no loading times. The game will feature open-ended assassination. Random events will also occur in the game. Such as accidentally stumbling upon a giant enemy ship, then luring that ship into a tropical storm and boarding the weakened ship to conquer. You can swim underwater. There will be whale hunting.

 

You will also be able to loot underwater shipwrecks, hunt rare animals, search for treasure in lost ruins and escape to hidden coves. Different enviornments in the game will feature different types of gameplay. For example Mine ruins will be more about puzzles while Jungles will focus more on stealth. Edward's pirate/Assassin allows for gameplay elements such as dual wielding swords or weilding four guns at once and comboing between them. 

 

The game:

The game will be released on PS3, Xbox360, Wii U, PC, PS4 and the next Xbox. The PS3 and PS4 versions will get 1 hour of exclusive content. The game will release on October 29th, 2013 and on November 1st in Europe. Pre-ordered copies will get a Todd Mcfarlene poster which can be seen below. In the next generation console versions of the game, AC IV will require internet connection. The game will also be supporting the PS4 controller and it's unique functions.

I hope there's a pirate-cove town!

 

This kind of makes sense, as the ship portions of ACIII were pretty well received. I'd play a game that had a focus on that, why not.

Ubisoft said they weren't going to do that era because it's not that appealing or exciting as others

I would actually not be too keen on that idea. I really disliked the naval combat in AC3 and I feel like there would be more of that

I didn't like Assassin's Creed at all when I tried it out. But that pirate theme makes me want to go out and buy this right away. So, I hope this is real.

 

Pirates are so underrated. We need some good pirate games.

Fourth entry already? There was a two year wait between I and II and a three year one between II and III, IV shouldn't come out a year after III, but rather four years afterward. You're doing it all WRONG, Ubisoft!

Naval Missions = A very very happy Stardust.

 

I as expecting the next AC to be around World War 2 or Sammurai like Oniaku said. But pirates are just as good.

I adore the ship missions in ACIII, a whole game with that being a focus greatly appeals to me.

You may remember that MCV reported that they had been sent a press invite for a special Assassin’s Creed event which took place today. Well, it turns out information from the event is currently under embargo until Monday. The publication says that while the information won’t be officially announced until Monday, they admit that some of it has already leaked out. The new game is apparently titled Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and the main characters name is Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin’s Creed 3. The game is reportedly set in the Caribbean. Both a screenshot and the world map for the game have leaked onto the Internet.

Unfortunately Ubisoft has stated that they want to continue one game in year schedule with AC  

Well naval battles were the best part of kinda meh AC III, so I'm happy if those will be in bigger part

There are three things I really want them to change: 

1. Please make enemy AI better, it's stupid that just one guy attacks you at time and others wait for their turn to be beaten up

2. Give enemy ability to swim, it's too easy to hide under bridge when enemies just jump to their death

3. Don't give same button for parkour/sprint and jump
