Because I like to cut and punch things.

Games with an immersive story, great gameplay, good music tracks, good controls etc. are what makes a game fun. Probably the biggest element in the fun factor would be gameplay but music and story are also greatly important.

JUMPIN' n' SHOOTIN' (man). Gameplay and design, and how well it was executed.

To me, they give you a sort of "relief" from having an ordinary, uneventful life in a world which just gets more and more dangerous each day. Video games offer life (however small it may be) in a different world and obviously you gotta love the chance to have something different. Also, when a video game ends, there's more to replace it, but when something fun in your life ends (or someone you care about dies) can you really replace that?Oh and ofcourse, a good story. Those are ALWAYS worth it

Well, what makes a game a game is interactivity, which is what separates it from other entertainment media like books or movies.  They're entertaining because, like any entertainment media, they wish to immerse you through its schtick.  If they do a good job at it, the way it immerses you will be fun.

You entertain yourself with awesome stories and incredible gameplay. That's why xD

Why question instead of enjoying? Nearly every video game has something that makes it enjoyable.

I don't care all the much about the story, but I do notice in situations where it is really bad xD (*cough* ff13 *cough* BBS ) I play a lot of multiplayer myself and as long as its balanced and team based I'll probably love it.

as for single player... as long as its long(but not too long), challenging(but not too challenging) and really violent :D

In my opinion...

  • Character creation
  • Characters based on Bruce Lee
  • Guest Characters
  • Good Graphics
  • Voices that suit the characters
  • Winning
  • Protagonists being well-respected & ending up with good fates
  • Having me in them

I think that's it so far?

HD graphics.

For me it's immersion. I like to feel part of the game that I'm playing. I want to go in and actually care for the characters and events that happen. I like to think that the world I am playing in has always existed and will continue to exist regardless of whether I'm playing the game or not.

There's a lot of things that contribute to immersion. At the end of the day, if I can feel like this virtual world in a game is as real as ours, then it's accomplished it's goal.

Also for the sake of clarification, I'm not talking about realism. Realistic games can play a part of it but it's by no means a requirement for total immersion. A game like Mario, specifically Super Mario Galaxy for me is anything but realistic, but the game is able to convince me that what I'm witnessing on screen, despite all logic and reasoning, is completely feasible and possible in that world.

Honestly now that I think about it I dont really play games for fun :/

Why do u then?

Why do u then?

I guess just to connect to the story and feel like im somewhere else.

They make me feel like I'm something other than just a regular old teenage student. They make me feel like a hero, even though I'm really average. I can go on my own quest, meet new friends, do all sorts of things I never would be able to in real life. In other words, immersion. Also, good gameplay makes games fun (The World Ends With You being my favorite example of this. Only game in which I'm fine with grinding in)
