Out of the many characters we have in the KH series who do you think has had the hardest time and why?

Roxas. He was torn away from one reality after another. Thrust into situations he thought shouldn't even concern him. As if he had no choice in his life whatsoever.

Pretty much this.

Actually i can make a strong case for many of the characters so I can't just choose just one . There's been a lot of heartbreak and sadness in KH if you think about it .

that fat guy from the 1st district, the reason he wasn't in any other games is because he got diabetes and died

Ventus.

 

He was taken in by Xehanort, and had his Heart almost destroyed by him, had it not been for Sora's merging.

 

Then, Eraqus took him into his care, and hid him from the rest of the worlds, for fear that he would play a part in the X-Blades creation, and thus never allowed him to really grow stronger. So while Terra and Aqua were training to become Masters, Ven could never keep up, and thus, they thought he could never take care of himself and never really gave him a chance at all.

 

Finally when he left to find Terra, he proved his worth, but by then, Aqua and Terra had drifted far away from him and each other(The Meeting at Radiant Garden proves this) and still thought he couldn't take care of himself.

 

Then, when he finally confronts Vanitas, he defeats him, BUT RELEASES HIS HEART FROM HIS BODY, and it rests inside Sora. So now, he has been in a coma for 11 and 1/2 years, while his friends have pretty much been screwed over, and he couldn't help them.

 

I think Ventus has had it the worst, though some of the other characters come pretty close though.

Tied between Roxas and Xion. Kairi on basis of the fandom.

Probs Xion.

It'd be easier to list the characters who had it the least hard (Hayner, Pence, and Olette, but they're uninvolved with the main plot, so...).  Everyone's had it bad, just in their own ways.  On the meta level, though, Kairi and Xion have my sympathies.  The fanbase just doesn't cut them slack.

Ansem the Wise.

 

Even if they manage somehow to bring him back to life, they can never return what he has lost, and that's what a real tragedy is all about. Nearly every other character in the series at this point can have their lives given back to them. Ansem can't. He is somewhat responsible for the Heartless, the Organization, and his own subjects think that he turned on them (if Leon and friends reactions at the end of KH1 are any hint). The people he called his students betrayed him, and through his own anger he has alienated everyone else. There is nothing for him to go back to.

 

Complete and total loss.

Clearly Vexen. No one likes him.

Winnie the Pooh. He got his butt stuck in that hole and has a terrible japanese voice.
