Why did Nomura make it ambiguous as to why Sora wields the keyblade?

Posted

I mean, since we've seen Riku got the keyblade from Terra, and Kairi from Aqua, but that never happened with Sora. All we saw is the heart of a keyblade wielder resting inside of him, which would lead many people to believe(including me at one point) that VEN IS THE ONLY REASON SORA WIELDS THE KEYBLADE. Yet Nomura expects everyone to have heard of his interview saying Sora wields it because he was meant to, and not because of Ven. They never say that in the game, they just make it ambiguous why Sora wields the keyblade. Obviously most people are going to assume that Ven is the only reason Sora got the keyblade and if he is revived that Sora will lose the keyblade.

Rule 1 of KH: You need to read the interviews to get all of the story.

Considering he got it because Riku's heart wasn't worthy anymore and the keyblade went next in line. I always just figured he was meant to have it...

A lot of the things are like that in the series, and there are some questions even the interviews don't address.  That's why you sometimes get fights between KH fans over KH lore because they made an assumption, believe their assumption is right, and fail to realize it's up to interpretation.  But I like this about the KH series.  Leaving things up to interpretation is fun brain fuel for fans.  And with how much the games already have, it would be hard to answer every question in the game.  Then it would feel like playing a wikia.

Well even with a ceremony the keyblade still needs to judge your heart worthy and choose you and i'm pretty positive Sora has proven himself worthy all on his own many times over.  Most of the time all the interviews do is basically explain things missed by some or explain some things that might not have been explained CURRENTLY in game but will be in the next. Even if you don't read all the interviews it's pretty damn obvious that Sora wields his own keyblade and can wield without Ven's heart considering he did it from the end of KH1 through CoM till he was reunited with Roxas.

All that I know is that the keyblade sorta has a mind of its own and the Kingdom Key D keyblade CHOSE him to be its wielder. No ceremony, no rite of passage, no exam, the thing flat out said "Yeah, this kid is cool. Imma gonna be with this guy kay? Mmmmkay."

Sora wields two keyblade's,his own and Ventus's Keyblade.

It's so obvious dude.

The only time where Sora wielded the Keyblade because of Ven was from when Riku fell into Darkness in in the Islands until Hollow Bastion.Later on he became an official wielder.

Another thing also,Sora has proved himself to be more worthy of wielding the keyblade more than any character in the series.

Y'know,HE DEFEATED TWO INCARNATIONS OF MASTER XEHANORT,ANSEM AND XEMNAS,survived transforming into a heartless, opened the door to the light of KH against Ansem in KH1.And defeated almost 89% of the members of Organization XIII.

So yeah,Sora won't lose his Keyblade even if "Plot device Ven" comes back to life.

If this is one of those "Sora will lose the Keyblade and Riku will be the new hero of the series" threads,it's not gonna happen.

Sora(as Nomura confirmed) was, still, and will be the hero of the series even if they had to give him a buster sword

Well like you said, Ven's heart still technically stay in Sora's physical body, since Roxas was made from Sora's physical body. It just wasn't directly with Sora throughout COM. But yeah, it still is kinda obvious.

I know Sora earned the keyblade at Hollow Bastion, i was just making a point that Nomura never left any hints on the fact that Ven isn't the reason Sora wields the keyblade now. He just expects people to have seen his interviews and know that information.

The whole "Inheritence ceremony" is absulotely pointless and bullshit.

It never brought out again after BBS since it's just there to serve as an excuse to why Riku got a Keyblade and how Kairi stupidly got her own without a ceremony by touching Aqua just because "her heart was qualified enough".BULLSHIT.If this is reaaaaaaaally the case.I can bring Gary F..king Oak and touch Aqua's Keyblade through her tits and he'll become a wielder

Yeah but it's still pretty obvious that when they are separated Sora only wielded one while Roxas could wield two bc the actual location of Ven's heart is in Roxas and not Sora's makeshift body while they were separated

Yeah,it should've been explained in the Journals in KH3D and put an end to those pointless question.

or how about this.Nomura should pull a Zelda Timeline and make a book for KH similar to Hyrule Historia that finally put those questions to rest

When Aqua went to Destiny Island and she met Sora and Riku she said that Sora has the potential to become a Keyblade wielder but she didn't give him the right of passage because she knew that Riku was given the right and she didn't want those two to fight like her and Terra did.  Sora has proven to be a keyblade wielder numerous times he was even put through the Mark of Mastery test by Yen Sid a former Keyblade master so even when Ven's heart leaves Sora he will still be able to hold a Keyblade.

Lol, maybe.

Yes that is true.

I'm not totally disagreeing with you about interviews being essential sometimes to understand some things, i'm just saying that most of this stuff is already explained or made obvious and some just miss it or some things are just left a mystery bc you can't possibly explain every little detail in game or you would have a game with mostly cutscenes and not enough gameplay and action .

I think that scene at Hollow Bastion was Nomura's way of showing that Sora earned the Keyblade. The confusing part was the creation of Ven. He's only there to explain why Roxas looks different than Sora, but people read too much into the fact that his heart is in Sora. It's left up for speculation, but I'd like to think that Sora proved himself.

I agree. I also think that KH3D did a great job of explaining a lot of plot elements and plotholes while keeping the gameplay and action while telling its own story. It's the best written game in the series.

And sometimes its just easy to miss too.

I've always hated the idea that Ven might be in any way responsible for Sora getting the keyblade. Or anyone in BBS being responsible, for that matter. The reason Sora has the keyblade is because he's the best man for the job, not because anyone gave it to him.

Because telling the story with the story itself is an idea that somehow eludes Nomura.
