Hey guys, who do you think will win the Smash Bros. Ballot?

I'm expecting King K. Rool or Isaac to win since they've got the most supporters by the looks of it, but I'm hoping it won't just be a popularity contest. There are a lot of lesser known characters who deserve a chance too, so I'm hoping Sakurai will also include someone who's not getting a ton of votes.

 

Of course, being a supporter of one of the lesser known characters, it's kinda obvious I'd hope they have as much of a chance as the ones who will get thousands of votes.

I wanna see K.Rool since we barely have any villains in the roster aside from Bowser,Bowser Jr, Ganondorf and some antiheroes like Dedede and Meta Knight

Not really,I'd say Cecil from FFIV have more of a chance than Neku since FFIV not only has the SNES release and the GBA version,but also has a DS remake and a sequel on WiiWare with FFIV The After Years(way back before the PSP collection)

I'm horrible with Mewtwo.

 

He has so many recovery options too. Insane jumps, teleport, side b boosts him up a bit like Mario's cape, and a fully charged neutral b pushes him back a bit. But none of that matters since he's going to be launched all the way out to the blast zones anyways.

 

His smashes are great. Up smash actually keeps them inside until the end of the move, unlike Zelda's. Forward smash racks up a nice amount of damage. Down smash pops them up, so you can follow with an aerial.

 

His tilts have insane range. Up tilt covers the top of you, and can be used to pop them up. Same with Down tilt, but covers in front of you. Forward tilt is unnecessary, since the other two are better.

 

Forward air is deceivingly strong. It's a great option for a KO, if you can land it. Up air has great range, but lacks knockback, which makes sense. Back air is way too slow to come out for my liking. Down air is satisfying to land, but awful if you miss.

 

Neutral b doesn't have a hitbox when charging it. :sad:  Does a nice amount of damage when fully charged though. Side b sort of sucks, if your opponent knows how to get out of it. (Tech it.) If they don't know, it's a free forward smash. Down b is hard to land, and it's useless when they are at low percents.

 

Side taunt makes him look like he's upping his power level. 9001/10

Don't forget Side B reflects projectiles. Mewtwo's side B is extremely similar to Mario's cape, except it's much, MUCH faster. With this move alone, Mewtwo puts a good Mega Man in his place. KO'd a Mega Man with his own Side Smash and his Dair. This also lets me know that Ness can bat Mega Man's Dair back if you can pull it off right. That Dair is super fast, hence the reason Confusion is the only way I found out it was reflectable.

Neku is nowhere near popular enough for Square Enix to put him in. They're almost definitely draw from a S/NES Final Fantasy, Crystal Chronicles, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest or just say firetruck it and out Cloud in

I knew I forgot to mention something in that quick write up. It's fun playing catch in Mewtwo dittos with a fully charged shadow ball. I always mess up the timing though. T.T

Except the point of third party is recognition. More people will want to know more about said character, leading them to play the game, whether or not they do so legal. Game/Series gains popularity and devs can profit off it.

I'm not here to argue my ideas on Neku or anyone else. I mentioned someone I'd like to see in Smash and out of all the times anyone said any character, Neku's the one you choose to bother someone about. Not Sora, not Super Meat Boy, not Goku, but Neku. Really man, come on...

If I had to choose a third party character, Neku would definitely be up by the top of my list. He's easily got a better chance than Shrek or Sora...

The Shrek always makes me chuckle.

On a more serious note, Neku did originate on a Nintendo console. Although it barely gains recognition, it is quite the gem and one of the best games of the DS generation.

The World Ends With You isn't well known, although I think it was considered by many RPG fans to be one of, if not the best RPG on the DS. Neku has a ton of options for a moveset, too, with all of his different pin effects. He's one of the few third party characters I can honestly say I'd like to see and play as in Smash Bros.

If someone legitimately argued that Sora was the most likely pick I'd call that out too. But most just WANT Sora, they don't think he's the most likely choice. You claimed that Neku was.

But that's just the thing. As far as I'm concerned he's not the most likely SE character, and I explained why. The end.

I'm hearing Sakurai said he wants to make as much Smash 4 DLC as possible, but I can't pin down a report, can anybody confirm/deny?

I haven't seen anything about this during my usual lurking about on Siliconera and GameFAQs (usually I get news pretty fast between the two), so I'm leaning towards it not being true. I do agree that it's exciting, though. Personally, I would like some new stages as DLC.
