I'm playing through this game again and it is only NOW just hitting me how bizzare this is. So, I get that as Sora goes through the castle, he is losing his memories. But he clearly remembered Traverse Town characters along with all of his memories of Kingdom Hearts and then starting the VERY next floor, he forgets absolutely everything about people from worlds he went to previously such as Aladdin and Pinocchio. Yet, he obviously remembers that Riku and King Mickey are still lost because Riku was "with the king when the door closed" as he reveals a few FLOORS later. So, there's really no excuse as to why he has no idea who Aladdin is ESPECIALLY if the whole world of Agrabah is constructed off of his memories of visiting Agrabah. I still love the game but it's kind of bizzare when you really think about it. At least to me.

It's probably because Riku and Mickey are very important part of his memories.

So ALADDIN ISN'T IMORTANT!?!? :

Lol just kidding but it doesn't make sense that the whole world of Agrabah is based off his heart's memory of it and then he doesn't know who any of them are.

He loses memories slowly...I think he remebered riku and mickey because he was colse with them (ectually just riku but never mind ).And closing the door moment happened at the end of the game so that was the only thing he remebered and he forgot what hapened before(like aladin and others)

Thats bc CO wasnt the one screwing with his actual memory loss. It was Namine . She had screwed with his 'chain of memories' linking and unlinking memories and removing or adding some .So basically his memories were all screwed up.

No I know it wasn't CO. I'm not saying his memories weren't screwed up I'm saying that the WHOLE floor of the world is based off of his memory and everyone that exists is based off his memory and yet he doesn't remember them.

but im still telling you when Namine undid memories, the people connected to them and sora forget him and he forgets them .  Those unlinked memories are still kinda there just not connected or even re- linked to where they are suppose to be . He prolly subconciously remembers deep down but yet cannot remember.

I wish Kingdom Hearts had a little more logic to it. However, I think sometimes, to really enjoy the games, you have to suspend your disbelief. By that, I mean just go with the flow. Plus, I think a lot of things also get lost in translation.

Eh. I guess. I just wish the first set of floors he still had at least SOME recollection and he kept losing it more and more as Namine continued her work. Like make certain worlds mandatory to be first as opposed to leaving them open for selection all at once because he knew what happened at the end of his journey such as turning into a heartless (although he didn't remember it being in a castle) and what happened after he beat Ansem SOD. So, his 'chain of memories' were at least somewhat intact at that point imo. Namine's work started to take affect around the 4th or 5th floor when we see her making her drawings.

namine firetrucked his mind good

Pretty fast, too. :P

You always remember your biffles over random people you helped

The game is all for friendship but it's quite clear the strong ties lie between the trios, rather than the original characters and the Disney characters.

But see you are missing my point .He remembers some things sometimes bc not all his memories were screwed with - just ones that needed to be by namine or even some by accident bc they were also linked to those unlinked by Namine . Kinda like memories being 'scattered'. So the memories he lost could be from any point in his journey but not always the rest just depending .And yes the more we see Namine working the more he loses even more memories.

So we have never really seen the power of Castle Oblivion to make people forget stuff, like Eraqus said, right?

Why didn't it affect the Nobodies?

Exactly. There is nothing weird at all with Sora having some memories and forgetting others because Namine can do whatever she wants with Sora and co's memories.

It didn't affect the nobodies because the nobodies were directing namine who was responsible for the memory stuff.

 Indeed xDD

to sora the plot in the disney worlds didnt hold significane either xD

so sora figured it out :P

Namine was the one messing with his memories. I think she kept Riku's memory in Sora so Riku Replica would have an effect on Sora and as a motivation to keep going.

Namine was the one messing with his memories, CO had no part in it.

Yeah! But then again he did forget Kairi. Namine probably didn't change the memories of Riku and the King.

He forgot Kairi bc Namine purposely replaced memories of Kairi with memories of Namine .
