Posted June 14, 201312 yr I highly doubt Nomura has even drawn a single sketch for this game yet. If this is the case then we may not see Kingdom Hearts 3 until a while, possibly two years. I do think it was announced way too early just like KH2 was.
June 14, 201312 yr Hey look at you, saying what we're already thinking and had confirmed for us. Nomura said himself that it was announced too soon, and from the looks of things, the way Sora looks in that trailer and the way the battle system is going to end up being is going to look nothing like that trailer. He said it started up shortly after BBS was released, but that was more likely than not just pre-production, with games like DDD taking more focus as they worked out what the story was going to be. It probably didn't go into actual development until very recently, when the first few PS4/X1 dev-kits were being distributed. The general fan consensus is that we're not going to have a playable KH3 until at least 2015.

Can you tell me where can I read that production started after BBS?--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And when they said is in development they probably meant story and gameplay theory probably art and designs since he already said that they had a new sora outfit confirmed.... I think it will be out by mid late 2015 or early-mid 2016
June 14, 201312 yr Well it is a beta trailer, so I expect it to all be different when the final product comes out, but I agree. I don't think they should have announced it until after 2.5 was announced. Now the people who boycotted the handheld games won't care for the remixes 'cause their beloved KH3 will be coming soon enough they'd just get that. Also any news on the HD remixes will be pushed aside by a number of people "Oh who cares about getting a remastered copy of a game I can already buy, KH3 is coming, kh3 kh3 kh3". And people who haven't kept up with the series on a site like this, where they know the concept and early trailers don't reflect the final product, wouldn't understand why it's not exactly like that in the final version, you'll see complaints like "This wasn't what I was lead to believe it'd be like" and "where's all the -blah- from the trailer I first saw years ago? Wah". The wait between now and it's release will be too long. It's excitement will die down by the time it's released, I wouldn't be surprised if some people who are excited now ended up not buying it with the impression "Oh, I wanted that, years ago". I don't expect to see it released until after 2015 anyway. A KH game a year Nomura wanted. Spring 2013 1.5 for Japan, Fall 2013 1.5 for NA/EU/AUS Spring 2014 2.5 for Japan, Fall 2014 2.5 for NA/EU/AUS Spring 2015 3 for Japan, Fall 2015 3 for NA/EU/AUSOr later than that, I don't think developments really that far along.

Their main focus was in fact DDD, but I feel like they should be past the point they're at in KH3's development. One of the most anticipated titles taken lightly by Nomura... the nerve.
June 14, 201312 yr If he keeps his promise of a game a year it will come out in 2015. 1.5 in 2013, 2.5 in 2014 and KH3 in 2015. Osaka has been free since summer of 2012 when they finished 3D. Also its being built on the Luminous engine which allows for much quicker development. A 2015 release is completely reasonable. You're 100% correct. Their main focus was in fact DDD, but I feel like they should be past the point they're at in KH3's development. One of the most anticipated titles taken lightly by Nomura... the nerve. What do you mean the point they are at? Development cycles take a very long time. Especially for next-gen hardware. Even if it is on the luminous engine. Also, they showed us a teaser. That doesnt mean they don't already have a lot done. The story is probably done as well as the basic build of the game. They are probably finalizing worlds now as well as exploring multiplayer options. It seems like you think they have just started. Like I said before, the team wasnt even available until last summer. They are probably a fair ways along and just put something together for the reveal. But the game isnt trailer ready yet.

The fact that it isn't proves that the teaser wasn't necessary, as new fans will believe they can get Kingdom Hearts 3 soon (when in reality it'll be in a few years). I'd love to see how the 1.5 ReMiX sales do now that the teaser's been shown.

One of the most anticipated titles taken lightly by Nomura... the nerve. Wow. No. Taking his time making the game is only going to give him time to improve it. Making all these games before it is just going to give the story a better payoff. Giving it time and improving it where he can.. What do you want? A game that was rushed out the door, not as good as it could have been? Or a game that took a long time, and is a labor of love with everything as perfect as they could make it?
June 14, 201312 yr I read somewhere that they're done with pre-production and that they've already figured out how the game will run and how the battle system will work in a basic sense- Nomura said they have a running version of the battle system they're planning to use already, so they honestly just need to MAKE the game now. Soo yeah probably 2014-2015 like everyone is saying.

We've seen many anticipated titles rushed and then when played become disastrous. If Kingdom Hearts 3 were to be released in 2015 that would mean it took a whole decade for the next numbered title.

No computer development started until last July at the earliest. Also, the final dev kits for PS4 and XB1 werent even out yet, so all work done by 3rd parties for next-gen platforms was basically preliminary stuff. The final dev kits weren't released till around last November. That means they had about 8 months of real time to build this game. Nomura was right and the teaser was probably too early, but he felt that it was time to show it. I mean, the groundwork for the game is probably done, but most of the worlds are probably not put in. Most of the colors are not there, the battle system isnt even finalized. Did you notice the the HUD on the teaser wasn't even doing anything?? It was there for show, as a possible look of the final version. They are far enough along that the game should be done by 2015, but as far as a full blown trailer, no way. I would venture to guess that the full blown trailer will be included as a secret ending on the second HD collection.

I mean, he's been too busy with other games. I still think the 2015 release date is likely though. As for when we'll see a real trailer, I was hoping TGS this September but that seems unlikely.
June 14, 201312 yr The only thing concrete about KH3 right now is some of the script of the story because of all the hints we got from past games. What we saw at E3 was just a Beta phase of the game(or even Alpha) and we're not sure if that fight with the heartless in Twilight Town would be even in the final game

I do think it was announced way too early just like KH2 was. he started dev 3 years ago and has been working hard, but he is sharing time with 15. it still has a long way to go according to nomura in his most recent interview, you can see it on the homepage here at kh13

That makes sense, but other than the worlds that havent been decided yet, Nomura probably has the overarching story together. Also, I would LOVE to see more at TGS but I feel like they will focus on HD 2.5. But who knows!! I was convinced we wouldnt see anything of KH3 until maybe next year and I was way wrong.

If KH 3 makes a 2015 release date, there's no way they're not at least half done with the game by now. Edited June 15, 201312 yr by <King Mickey>

And if It's gonna be 2015 then they didn't announced it to soon, because BBS was announced in 2007 (3 years before release) Edited June 15, 201312 yr by lars1080
June 15, 201312 yr Hopefully we will be able to see it before the end of 2014, but realistically, I would more lean towards it coming out during Spring of 2015 at the earliest. Which I defiantly think is a distinct possibility as since they revealed the trailer in English, and for the English speaking fans before announcing it to the Japanese fans, we can hope to see a world-wide release.
June 15, 201312 yr If they went through enough trouble to do a CGI beta trailer for the game, I think Nomura has at least drawn a single sketch for it.
