Seriously, it drives me nuts.  I have never ever seen someone like this ever.  To me it's like the people who post this stuff don't care about others.  What are your thoughts?

The iPhone thing I get.  They have attracted the name "Obama phone".  Basically the government will pay for people to have smartphones.  I find it rather ridiculous. The other stuff is silly.  If someone likes getting tattoos or their nails done, that is their business.

Well when you think about it if you have the money for a phone (usually contract so a monthly bill), as well as regular treatments (if you do them all the time) like tanning and such, push comes to shove that money should be getting spent on food.

However I believe even if you're on  benefits you should be allowed to spend that on actual living, socializing, treats whatever if you have money left over after essentials. It'd be unfair to expect someone to never go out and buy themselves stuff, whether it's treatment or a product just because they're on benefits.

The phone thing though I find stupid and agree with, specifically 'cause a lot of the people do end up with high end phones when they could get the same purpose with a cheaper phone and have the extra money put towards bills or food.  And to see them sitting complaining they don't have money for food, nappies or something else that's a needed daily basis (like toilet room) while holding the likes of an iPhone is a ridiculous.

Real problem is when people think of it as a easy way and have kids to get on benefits without ever having the intention to try work.  It was a problem here in the UK, people getting knocked up just to have kids and get a free council house.

Actually yeah there are people like that, and if you're living of of other people's money you should be focusing on getting off welfare rather than what is cool or what goodies you can get.

Maybe it's because I live in a town where this kind of things is expected to be common, but I see this all the time.

Really?  The only person I've ever seen using that kinda thing was buying stuff for her kid.  And not toys.  I'm talking about containers to put food into.  I have no doubt that there are people who abuse the system, but I'd rather see that than see the people who need it get the short end of the stick.

I live in frickin' Vegas. It's one of the most common things besides washed up performers here.

Makes sense then.

My views on this subject matter are so scattered and conflicting with each other that I don't even give my input on it. At first I'm like yeah, and then on the other hand it's yeah.

But I always think that if a person knows they can't support a child let alone themselves, they should try to avoid having any kids at all until they're settled. But obviously things don't work like that sooo

Honestly a huge problem with welfare programs in America is that people exploit it. You'd be surprised just how often people abuse it. The system that decides who gets welfare and who doesn't  is also horribly broken. Many honest hard working folk get turned down and have to struggle while people who plan on exploiting it in some way get their benefits no problem. Unfortunately, race is a big problem too. There are quotas on the amount of people from one ethnic group that need to be filled up. If you are desperate and need support, but happen to have the wrong skin color you can get turned down, which happens to Caucasians quite often.

Put it this way, if my tax money is going to the poor, then I should have a say in how the poor are supposed to spend it. I'm paying for them to fulfill their basic needs and achieve a better place in life, not to buy them new toys. It's actually stealing when you think about it, and should be treated and punished like it.

It's essentially embezzlement. You're giving them money for necessities and they spend it on luxury items.

I live in a dinky town in Florida that Urban Dictionary describes as "the black hole of the south."
