They might have been talking about Riku really. There must have been an error in the translation.

Riku is the only character to become a keyblade master during KH3D. Sora never became a keyblade master since he failed the MoM.

Well....... Here's my theory, Sora might be 18 yrs old in KH3 and in between the KH3D and this next one. He might've become a Keyblade master in between. But it's just a guess and on the changing Keyblade part I'm not sure. But still I'm not completly sure, I hope this helped ^_^

I've never seen the difficulty in a mark of mastery exam so maybe he just took a different/easier test?

I think it was a mistranslation and they meant Riku

Riku is the only one who passed the exam, not Sora until the beginning of KH3.So yeah,i think the translations was been misread...

aqua probably starts training hem near the beginning of kh3

It's clearly a translation error. I doubt much time has passed between the events of DDD and KHIII

Aqua is trapped in the Realm of Darkness.

I know I was just pointing out that her being trapt means she very well can't train him in the beggining of the game.

He just has the power.

Oh, trust me, Sora is already a master. The title is arbitrary, and means nothing.

the title is not arbitrary yen sid states that it is not arbitrary

Sora saved the universe twice, stopped Xehanort twice, and has helped and aided who-knows-how-many people on the worlds he has visited. He's also gone toe to toe with a God and fought a genie, both of whom lay claim to unlimited cosmic power.

Riku nearly assisted in destroying the world, and Aqua failed at every task given to her.

The latter two are given the official title of Master, and Sora, somehow, is not.

The title doesn't mean anything.
