In Kingdom Hearts One and Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories it seems like Ansem pops up wherever Riku is. I thought it was because of his connection with Ansem but after playing Kingdom Hearts 3D I'm not so sure anymore. Anyone who's finished Kingdom Hearts 3D knows

Xehanort can track people with the letter X on them. So if you look at the picture of Riku from KH1 you'll find he has an X. So maybe that's how Ansem was tracking him.

They often do recon some stuff back into the older stories (ie. Aqua's charm on Kairi being the reason she ended up on DI) but I don't think it would be the case here. It is such a well established fact I don't think they would plow over it like that.

i think he could track sora in kh 3D because , xehanort his self put that X in sora when he went into the dream realm

Exactly. Most of the people Xehanort (all forms) has hurt wore an X at some point. the only exceptions were Kairi, and Namine. The Organization may not have worn a physical X, but they all did have an X in their names. Maybe it served the same purpose, although Roxas had a X shaped pendant on his street clothes. Hell, there's even an X on the Heartless emblem, both Dream Eater emblems, and the Unversed Emblem. X's everywhere!

It was stated that Sora and Riku's clothes in 3D were a gift from Yen Sid. That guy really like giving out free outfits. I think it is true that Xehanort has the ability to track anyone who wears an X.

Possible. I just don't think Xehanort has to place the X on a person himself to be able to track them. He could have used Riku and Terra's darkness to track them, but that doesn't explain how he always seemed to know where Ven and Aqua were. Yes, he did send Ven to a few places, but not many and he had no direct contact with Aqua at all until then end of the game.

I agree with this part because we do know he retcons shit - but i'm just pointing out that in this certain occasion- Xehanort stated they placed the sigil on Sora right around the time he entered the dream worlds and Riku spotted Ansem in his hooded form and bc of this ended up Sora's dream eater .However it was stated over and over throughout the games that ansem was always present in riku bc of ansem's darkness. Because riku had been possessed he never really needed a sigil .Ansem was always with him -literally.

I still think the X could have helped him get a hold on Riku. And I defiantly think he was tracking Terra, Ven, and Aqua. I mean it seems to me he knew where they were all though out the game.

I hope I'm not the only one who wants a more in depth look at the Recusant's Sigil in Kingdom Hearts III.

Plus this is logical. TVA were all harrassed by Xehanort and Vanitas during BBS. Now Terra belongs to Xemnas already, Aqua is lost in the darkness, and Ventus is too well hidden in CO.  Also, look at Lea in 3D. Without being A-x-el, he's able to get a suprise attack at the end of 3D. If I recall, Sora in KHII had yellow Xs on his gloves when he got new clothes at Yen Sid's tower. The very next world (Hollow Bastion), Organization XIII introduce THEMSELVES to Sora. Then again, this may be because of Roxas' incompletion with Sora and due to his physical X necklace and/or the name Ro-x-as.

See, on one hand , X's on clothing have existed from the very beginning of KH even before the recusant Sigil was ever even made up for the plot . On the other hand, Nomura is known to retcon shit into past concepts as he makes shit up as he goes . It's what he does. As for Riku, he didn't need a sigil when he had a piece of Ansem's darkness with him the entire time . Of course Ansem knew where he was at all times . See how this tells you Nomura just kind've makes this shit up as he goes or at the very least builds new shit on other unexplored /unanswered concepts? .
