What do you think is the worst FF game?

 

Note: IVE ELIMINATED SAYING XIII(and its sequels) AS A CHOICE FROM THIS THREAD BECAUSE ALOT OF PEOPLE ON HERE HATE IT DUE TO ITS LINEARITY, SO I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK IS THE WORST FF GAME BESIDES XIII(and its sequels).

 

For me, i'd have to be XII.

 

I do love XII. I think it has the best developed world and probably the best written characters.

X-2. Unless you mean the main titles.

 

Here's the thing, though: no other game manages to be so thoroughly unlikable to me as XIII. There are elements of X and VIII which I really don't like, but I can still manage to overlook them because there are some really great things to be said for them. I just found I couldn't get anything out of XIII (and this really doesn't have anything to do with the gameplay so much as the story and characters). 

Not just the main titles, sequels and spin offs count too.

 

And ok, at least YOU have a legitimate reason for disliking XIII. I knew i could count on you Dave.

 

That said, i think maybe you should look into XIII-2 and LR FF XIII. They're stories seem to be better then XIII really. At least i think so.

I do keep hearing that XIII-2 solves nearly every problem I had. I need to get around to looking at it.

Yeah, the characters are better, the gameplay is more refined(if you care about that), the game is more non linear, and the story while not as focused as the original one(due to its Non linearity) it's still pretty good, and easy to understand, considering its a time travel game. You really should look into it. And if you end up liking it, there's Lightning Returns(or its also known as XIII-3) which wraps up the whole story after XIII-2, and it's looking to have a great story from the trailers so far. Not to mention, the gameplay is non linear(like XIII-2, since i doubt they'd make it linear after XIII got hate for that) and its an Action RPG like KH.

 

But, im not gonna spoil the story for you. Its better for you to check it out yourself, you'll enjoy it alot more that way, obviously.

Why do people bash XIII for being linear? You can just run around because you are a l'cie. You would be killed.

X was way more linear until Cid comes. It was a straight shot to Zanarkand.

Well, that's one of the things that sticks out about it the most, in most people's eyes. Well, at least for most of the people i've met.

 

So, i take it FF Thirteen is the only FF game you hate(along with its better sequels that deserve more credit and appreciation) and you dont hate any other FF game. :| Typical.

FF8 has a story filled with huge plot holes and a boring junction system

 

FF12 has a boring,needlessly complicated battle system with stupid AI for your partners

I understand that. I just think that excluding it as a choice because of haters, even though some people have legitimate reasons for disliking it, is a bit ... childish.

It's not because of hatred,it's because he wanted to see different opinions and what other FF games that people hate aside from XIII

 

You can't just put XIII there and say that the FF series from 1 to 12 is any perfect

Thanks for spelling out my point Metal Snake.

 

This is the other reason. I want to see other opinions of other hated FF games, rather then the generic answer of XIII. Much of this thread would fill up with answers of "XIII" and nothing else. Im sick of that, i want to see opinions on why you guys hate OTHER FF GAMES besides XIII for a change.

Well VI is pretty good. Almost no one here seems to hate it, because IT'S THAT GOOD. It may be a bit overrated, but i still think it deserves the love it gets for SURE.

Overrated means that a game gets more praise than it deserves. Going off that definition, I'd say that it isn't at all. VI's the only FF game I'd consider anywhere near perfect.

You might not have enjoyed it, but I found the characters to be well developed, the story to be amazing and the best of the FF franchise, and Kefka to be a great villain. His Magicite enhancements caused him to go completely insane, I'm probably gonna get told off by some Batman fans since I have no knowledge of the series, but I think that's similar to the Joker. As for the world, I personally thought it was really well done. I could honestly say everything you said about VI about VII. It's all personal preference.
