They didn't have the details about BBS's plot in concrete then. After all, they thought it was post-KH2 with Sora as the main character on ps2. So maybe Ventus was supposed to break his keyblade in that scene, but obviously for story purposes they couldn't break his keyblade in BBS. Yeah the cutscene in BBS wasn't as powerful on psp with the choppy graphics instead of CGI, especially when Aqua caught Ven as he fell and it zoomed in on his face.
