Hey everyone! I'm MDS Veritas and welcome to the sign ups for my new RP idea; Echoes and Ash. I've had the pleasure of being part of a lot of RPs here and I've even started a couple, and I've spent the last couple months thinking up an idea for a new RP. If the vague text above seems at all interesting, I'd ask you to maybe take a look at the RP brief, and, if you're interested in signing up, just reading the rules and filling out a form. The course of human history has always been a rocky one. The more technology and advancements that the human race creates the more potential for skirting a line of self destruction there is. The year is 2185, and humanity's reach has gone into the stars. Thousands of planets now act as humanity's home. New technologies continue to emerge; exciting, fascinating new inventions that could possibly revolutionize the life of every human. In fact, human-kind seems to be moving faster than ever. Much of this new-found speed is due to the abilities of SAs- the "sentient artificials"- which are human-built software-based intelligences with huge logic capabilities and built to replicate human thought as to work well with the scientists with whom they co-exist. A bright future lies ahead of the human race as star ships roam the galaxy, people live among hundreds of different planets, and the scientific horizons of humanity seem endless.

 

That was 2185. That was 19 years ago. That was when it happened. After coming so far human kind suddenly disappeared in a day without a trace. Trillions of souls gone in a heartbeat. The SAs in service went offline one by one until seemingly all were gone. The galaxy was completely silent, and not a soul knows why. However, for all the humans that disappeared on that day, some still survive. 200 years prior, a project began wherein select humans were cryogenically frozen and they were preserved secretly hidden away from the world. For 200 years the people of the early 21st century slept. They are about to be brought back, and it is up to them to find out what happened to the humans, and what dark force is behind it.

 

They fell asleep in a world of activity  and opportunity. They will wake in a world of Echoes and Ash, and they will not be alone.

 

Perhaps not all the SAs went offline...

 Sound interesting? Well then let me give you a rundown of the rules I have in mind and let you get to the character applications if you're interested!

 

• First and foremost; have fun! This is an adventure I hope everyone involved can go on, and that's what it should be all about; the thrill of discovery, the thought of piecing together a puzzle of history, and of course the unpredictability of getting to interact with other characters.
• One character per person. I understand that people like to create their own sets of characters to interact with each other but I'd like to push interacting with other players even more! If your character dies you do have the option to create a new one.
• This is what I like to think of as a "Miniseries" RP. By that I mean I have a distinct amount of things and places in this RP, it's not going to go on for a very long time and you don't have to dedicate a huge amount of time to it without much of a payoff. As such, if you apply, please try to stick with the RP.
• Be fair to other players. Your attacks need to be open for possible dodging and for the love all things good, please don't pull the "I teleport behind you" trick in every fight you're in. Make fights interesting, make them fair. There are going to be things you character can't do in this RP, and choices that have no right answer.
• I'm aiming for a certain amount of people in this RP, and while I think and hope we'll hit that, just so you know there's still a chance I may choose against starting it now if there aren't enough characters.

 

Sound good? Let's go right onto the character template then. The thing to remember, though, is that you're making a character from the present day, they simply wake up in the future. As far as weapons, get as sci-fi creative as you want, and I'll just check to make sure it's balanced enough to use.

I think everyone should just edit, because at this rate, you've spat on Seraphim's sacrifice and now are about to fail the entire mission because everyone will be dead (except me, but I won't survive long enough in Wing to make it). I say everyone just edit, enter the friggin beacon, and not pretty much tell Sera her sacrifice was unneeded because we'd have stayed to die on our own.  -_-

My plan would he as follows: our defensive and heavy-armed Mechs would fire off shots to damage shields as we use E.V.A. modified with Laggen's drill and Knightmare's shield to increase energy output as we use E.V.A's speed and power to speed around the planet, build up speed, then pull a knight move and lance through the ships by ramming strait through the three ships cores as we take our remaining three back to the planet, rearm as the SA ships are destroyed and we have to regroop. Ferro could have set it to Autopilot and Derik could pilot E.V.A. till we send the attack and he could escape pod out after being sure it would successfully hit, and everyone would have made it.

You seem to think I meant three times preformed. E.V.A. would barely survive the two if it was done individually. I meant one strait shot. The three mechs force the ships to reposition to attack the AP into position and when the SA's deal with them, Derik uses EVA to go through(since E.V.A. has the most physical force and due to the fact its body and mentally controlled, it would be simple to do). It would possibly be able to survive, but the only reason why would be the momentum. The rockets would be too slow to counter and the shield absorb laser shots. If it hit then had to go through again the need for extra speed and the slowing process to turn it around would legitimately tear it apart, so it would have to be done in one faital swoop. Besides, E.V.A. has no range, and your blasters would be able to blast through most walls and metals anyway, and the fact the AP's are stored there repair equipment and other weapons and such must exist within the building. Besides, a well-planned trajectory would make it impossible for them to dodge, the ships are far too large to move that fast(assuming g-forces multiply speed still around the planet) if my mech moved at its current speed around the plants orbit three imes he would be approaching nearly mach 200. Then the slingshot effect takes place and it would crash land on the planet, but due to the extreme weather the speed would considerably slow and then EVA could have been salvaged.

See, that is why I had planned Derik to ditch as soon as the shot was lined up.

But the problem is that the SAs wouldn't put themselves in such a position. Wing's cannon is just as powerful when fully charged, so why put themselges in a line?

I doubt the SA's would think we would go with such a dangerous plan, so they likely would just keep firing. And also, orbit isn't a strait line: its in fact curved along a set of points. The shot basically would make a giant oval in shape, and even if I missed one or two, after the first they would be preparing for that attack, and then you all would just hammer them to death with firen

So just to clarify- Everyone here is okay with moving forward with what's been posted right? You are free to edit, but I want to be sure we head in a definitive direction.
