The wind blew softly over the island. Besides the soft swaying of the trees there was little to disturb the idyllic serenity here. The island stretched out for miles, but at the coasts there was nothing to see but water. The island, like the universe in which it existed, was nearly empty, the remnants of life clung, decaying, to its shores and its trees and its fields, but the yells of excitement, of fear, of courage that has once complimented the sound of the wind ha since faded to echoes. Today, however, that changed. Today life returned to the universe. The only question is; what kind of universe would it return to?

"C'mon, get up!"

"All of you, wake up."

"Rise and shine, it's a new day."

Far away voices entered the hazy minds of those sleeping on the island.

Lying on the shore of a short beach was Seraphim Valentine, Derik Absolon, and Samantha Allison, and Rodin Seefull. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Lying in the middle of an airstrip surrounded by jungle was a different group. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay Alex Dimanche, Ferro al'Vere, and Hazimie Azhar Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four people; Rija Mors, Terry Frost, Henko Tenioenai, Koizumi Onnea, and Rin Nozomi Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an immaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

The far away voices slowly awakened all of these people. The clouds in the blue skies above moved slowly; the morning was upon them. It was time to wake up and find the future...

"Okay," Elaryse said, "objections to entering through the resource wing?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hmm..." Veridyan pondered "so is it gonna be the front door or the weapons silo?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Alright then," Rytt began "so we've got two options; the security wing or the chemicals building. You guys need to decide."

"My vote stays with the Lab" Derik sounded off.

Ferro was feeling a bit silly. "Through the chemicals! It's better to be dissolved than shot!"

"What kind of weapons were tested in the silo?" Terry asked leaning closer to study the holographic plans. "And what's the probability that stuff could be still around?"

Terry wasn't wild about either option. The front door was only a good way in if you were invited or owned the place. The Weapons Silo didn't sound too bad, but he figured that what ever whipped out the humans might have a smaller prototype there. And some Hayward machines wired to use them.

Rodin listen on the options and thought on which to pick.  After some thought, he says:  "Usually I'd like to get somewhere as fast as possible.  But we could find some useful stuff at the resource bay.  And I'm sure we can take care of any problem there, so yeah.  I'm going with the resource bay."

The ships descended near to the planets atmosphere.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Elaryse was now moving into action.

"The shuttle is in place then, to move towards the resource bay. Everyone put forth their last minute questions and then head through the red door behind you which will send you to the shuttle bay, understood?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rytt's hologram reappeared and nodded. "So the Chemicals Lab then? Ask your last questions, then go in the blue door behind you to the tram that will take you to the deployment shuttle."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Veridyan began to answer Terry's question. "Oh you know, missiles, various bombs, automated turrets, maybe a nuke or two... now that you mention it, that does seem like the most fun entry point. I'll set the shuttle course for there. If ya got any last questions, ask them now, or else head to the green door behind you and get on the tram that will take you to the shuttle."

The hologram smirked. "The fun's about to start."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The research facilities monitoring systems began to go off as the three ships approached from orbit.

"Hmp." Vergyl thought.

"They're finally back. That means...."

Ferro nodded to Rytt and walked through the blue doors. He took his seat on the tram. "We can do this guys." A pause. "So. . .what exactly are we trying to do here, Rytt?"

"I'm good for right now. I may have more later, though." Derik said dryly.

Ferro nodded to Rytt and walked through the blue doors. He took his seat on the tram. "We can do this guys." A pause. "So. . .what exactly are we trying to do here, Rytt?"

"If my logic isn't failing me, I'm certain were looking either for the Genisys machine, or more information on it." Derik told Ferro before stepping through the door.

Rodin says:  "No questions are coming to me, so I guess I'll be going."  and heads to the door.  He stops, snaps his fingers and said:  "Silly me.  I forgot to get my armor back on."  Rodin walks to the table his armor torso is on and equips it.  Then he says:  "Okay, now I'm ready." and walks back to the red door.

"Either trying to find it, or information regarding it." Alex replied, walking through the blue doors into the tram. He sat down facing Ferro, and hefted the rifle onto his lap. His arm was stiff and felt like lead, but it was better than still bleeding. "And at least in the chemicals lab, our suits will provide the shielding against any..accident."

Rija smiled a little at Veridyan's tone, and agreement with her logic. She saluted the hologram, checked her current weaponry, and made her way towards the green door. She could only hope that everything would turn out all right. As far as she knew, they had the largest group, which would be good for them if it came down to fighting them. However, as far as she knew, they didn't have any scientists or anything in the group, so if they had to solve a problem like that, they could be in trouble. But Rija was confident in her instinct, for it had gotten her this far, so it might take her even farther.

"Righty righty!" Henko leaped toward the door in three long strides. The fun was about to begin eh? He readied Brutality. The weapon system clanked threateningly. "I think I'm pretty much ready." He announced. Sure he had missed a bunch these pat few hours, but he was so ready for it to all come crashing down.

"Exactly" Rytt added onto Alex's and Derik's explanations as the three loaded into the tram. "You all will be infiltrating the facility to locate the Genesys machine, the one I've talked about, which has a signal emanating from the primary lab in the facility, only several rooms away from the chemical wing." The tram shot along the huge transport corridors of the Bebop to the shuttle bay.

"I have no idea what will be in there."

Once the transport arrived in the shuttle bay the three were moved directly into the shuttle itself. After a short pause the shuttle doors closed and it rocketed out of the bay towards the planet.

It was a bumpy ride.

After they made it past the atmosphere the shuttle was faced with fierce rain and winds the likes of which the Earth had never seen. It was jolted and rocked and spun dozens of times. Soon, though, a large structure came into view beyond the dimness of the heavy rain and clouds.

"Hold on!" Rytt's voice came in with spurts and sputters as the signal encountered issues. The shuttle suddenly came up to a huge circular section of the facility. The shuttle was rocked around but soon it flew into the entrance bay. It landed softly enough and opened up. A huge blast door was in front of the shuttle. A blast door behind them closed, cutting them off from the outside. The blast door to the interior opened up- showing a huge room with dozens of huge vats and drums within. Each seemed to have some horribly colored liquid coming slowly from it.

"Okay," Rytt's voice came form their wrist consoles. "You've got to get a keycard from this room. You'll need it to access the rest of the facility. I can detect one in here, gimme a sec."

The biggest vat of chemical was about a hundred or so feet from the entrance door where the shuttle was. A thick yellow substance was oozing from it. It was open at the top, and it was clear that it was nearly full of whatever it was in it.

"Oh crap." It was Rytt. "The card is in that vat of chemicals in front of you. Someone..." he paused.

"Someone has to go in and get it."

Ferro looked at the vat of ooze. Crap, he thought. "We should test the ooze to see if it's dangerous." Ferro picked up a metal scrap lying on the ground and threw it into a puddle of the ooze on the floor. It quickly became a bubbling mass of yellow, then disappeared entirely. Oh crap. "Acid, by the looks of it, and strong. We need a strong base to neutralize it. Look around for one." Ferro picked up more metal scraps and began throwing them in various pools of icky substances.

"Milk would be fabulous, or a calcium-carbon mixture would do decent as well. But, there is another way. Rytt, open the door, just enough for Ferro to shoot a portal, I'll weather the storm because of my armor and stamina, I should be able to handle it, I will use the sifter-like tool to hopefully be able to gain the keycard if its not inside the tank afterward. After its retrieved, I will return and we can contenue, but make sure to then close the door. Next, grab a large, dense, flat object and throw it on top, the acid should go into it if the material is more dense and able to withstand the acid well." Derik started to formulate plans that may work out better.

"Wait, you want to go outside? In this weather?" Suddenly a thought occurred to Ferro. "Wait a minute. We saw what the acid did to a piece of metal. What if the key card dissolved?" A horrible thought, to be sure.

"I'm analyzing it, and..." Rytt was lost in thought for moment. "It's actually not acidic. There was a chemical reaction that destroyed that stick you threw in it, but it wasn't due to any sort of acidic nature and it doesn't seem like it would chemically breakup any human tissue or any of your armor, nor would it break up the keycard itself. It should still be intact."

"Wait, you want to go outside? In this weather?" Suddenly a thought occurred to Ferro. "Wait a minute. We saw what the acid did to a piece of metal. What if the key card dissolved?" A horrible thought, to be sure.

"Even if it did, I can just punch my way through the doors, anyway." Derik said. "And I've trained in thirty times the average pressure of gravity. I should be fine, either way." Derik smirked. "I believe I, as well as many in my time were likely being trained to be the first super soldiers, likely, or so I think."

"Well, why don't we just go vat diving, then?" Ferro got up and the lip of the vat. "Rytt, in your analysis, did you find the ooze to be organic? It would be darn easier to dimension it away if that were the case."

Terry shook his head as he listened to the list of possible weapons in the silo.

"Well, let's just hope we can get some before what's left uses it on us." He commented. "Alright, let's do this."

He stood up and looked around at the others. An unpleasant thought occurred to him.

"What about the others? Will the other SA's be sending their survivors against this place?"

Seraphim keyed the red door.

"Let's do this."

"It's not Organic, Ferro, sorry," Rytt said ", I can't seem to get a match on anything similar to it's molecular makeup."

"Oh, and Derik, the doors are a no-go. This is... was one of the premier research facilities, almost nothing is bringing down that door if it wasn't meant to open."

There was a quick pause, then Rytt's voice came right back. "Damn, the other ships are deploying shuttles. We've got to move fast. I hate to ask, but someone has to. In the center of the vat is the keycard and we need it now."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Good, then let's get moving!" Veridyan stated cheerfully. The tram everyone was in shot off down the side of the ship. "Missiles, bombs, possibly incendiaries, you guys gotta take pictures for me!"

The tram arrived at the shuttle bay and the passengers were moved to the shuttle.

"Oh yeah, hold on!"

The shuttle blasted away from the Rex in moments and spiraled through the atmosphere. There were several moments of fire on all sides of the shuttle as it entered the atmosphere. Once it did the fire was replaced with pounding rain and wind. The shuttle was tossed violently around.

"No, like, seriously, hold on."

A huge facility came into view. The shuttle veered towards a huge cylindrical area. It was a shake landing, but the shuttle made it into the loading bay well enough. The shuttle door opened up after the loading bay closed them off from the fierce storm outside.

The silo was huge. dozens of missiles were lined up to the right of the shuttle. To the right were a variety of strange spherical objects and odly shaped metal casings. In front of the shuttle was a huge bulking door.

"Good news everyone!" Veridyan seemed happy, but there was something lingering in his voice. "Security was alerted...."

Suddenly 5 medium sized aerial drones flew from the deployment vents. Two immediately charged for Henko, with two spinning saw blades each, coming at him from both sides. One charged at Rin with two mounted laser rifles firing down at her. One came down at Terry with the dual saw blades, and the last charged Rija with the dual laser rifles.

"Might wanna deal with those guys, cuz we've got even more problems ahead of us."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Let's" Elaryse echoed.

The tram didn't take long to transport them to the shuttles. From there Seraphim and Rodin were transferred to the shuttle, which took off within a moment.

"There's no time to waste." Elaryse seemed somewhat concerned.

The shuttle rocketed into the planets stormy atmosphere. It shook terribly, and rocked violently. Finally it got close to the facility, with the resource wing coming into view.

"Good," Elaryse said "we're coming into... wait... the shuttle's controls... damn it!"

The shuttle got closer and closer to the huge doors to the resource depot but it didn't slow down.

"Brace yourselves!" Elaryse shouted through their wrist consoles.

The shuttle ripped through the main door into the resource wing and skidded violently across the ground. The shuttle door broke open, and Rodin and Seraphim were pulled out. Things weren't good. The unearthly feirce wind was pulling at the entire room and the hole from the shuttle crash was widening. All the huge crates and cargo in the resource wing began to move around, and suddenly they all started sliding towards the hole, towards the shuttle....

...towards Rodin and Seraphim.

Fierce wind, blinding rain, and thousands of pounds of resource cargo flying towards them. A single small door sat on the other end of the warehouse. Everything was in chaos.

"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, RUN!"

"It's not Organic, Ferro, sorry," Rytt said ", I can't seem to get a match on anything similar to it's molecular makeup."

"Someone's gotta do it, so I guess I'm for it." Derik then messed with his helmet, turning it on, and jumped into the vat.

Rodin shouts:  "Tell me something I don't know!"  He switches to blaster mode and fires at the cargo.  If the shots don't destroy them, Rodin hopes they at least push them back.  He tells Seraphim:  "Sera, get to the door!  I'll be right behind you!"

Alex stood by and watched. He felt slightly bad for just standing around, but the ooze that had come out of the vat had grabbed his interest. A non-acidic substance that had such a strange chemical reaction? He was surprised that the chemicals Ferro had tried to throw in hadn't blown up the whole station. "Rytt, I'll ask for a copy of the data for whatever this substance is. I'd like to research it later." Alex said, standing up from his kneeling position.

Henko smiled giddily. "This is too perfect!" Phew fired rockets from both fists, launching him into the air and causing the two drones to crash into each other. "And down!" Henko performed the same technique to launch him downward and he quickly changed to Grace as he spun downwards, lasering everything in the radius of his weapon, including the drones, cutting into those repeatedly. Immediately before impact, he switched to Heavy Brutality and completely crushed his assailants.
