Something sort of just dawned on me about Santa in KH II. Namely, that he knows Sora and Riku and something of their history, as well as having Donald and Goofy on his List. Outside of the Villains and King Triton, Santa Claus seems to be one of the few Disney non-keyblade wielders who knows about multiple worlds. Moreover, we know he must be able to visit them, because he has to deliver presents ever Christmas. Meaning that Santa's sleigh is the equivalent of both a gummi ship and a keyblade glider.

 

I think this sort of sets him up as an untapped resource for KH III. I don't know exactly how much help he would be, but maybe he knows a thing or two about Ven and/or Aqua, or even where and what Xehanort is up to (after all, a man who knows when you've been bad or good has a lot of surveillance equipment at his disposal). It also might help, given that they are also looking for keybladers of the past/ the key to restore hearts, to ask Santa, given that he's been around a very long time and knows about all the worlds and people in it.

I don't think his fanservice is large enough 

I still want Sora to tell Riku he met Santa Claus. And I'm sure Xehanort, Ansem SoD and Xemnas are waaaay up his bad boy list.

Considering Santa's ability to determine who's naughty or nice probably amounts to stalking them, he could probably fill Sora and co. on what everyone's up to better than Yen Sid.  Maybe if Aqua went to Santa instead then she'd be able to confirm Terra's naughty or niceness instead of jumping to her own conclusions.  Or maybe ask, hey, is Xehanort really a good guy?

 

In all seriousness, Santa probably could make a little contribution, but I don't see how much.  He doesn't strike me as an important enough character to divulge significant plot information.  I know it'd make Disney plot relevant again but I think that honor, if it returns, should go to the central characters of those worlds (Santa's pretty passive and incidental in both KH and the original Nightmare Before Christmas).

That's actually too smart of an idea for Nomura to ever think of imo
