The storyline just isn't appealing to me. It seems really sloppy and that there wasn't enough thought put into it. I don't know how many times I've heard the "omfg, they're three apprentices and their master is evil and it's, like, total chaos!". Starts to get old after a while.

The characters even worse. Does it annoy anyoen else that the three main characters are the three most overused stereotypes? We have the "I'm the hero, and I'm gonna save everyone! (Gary-Stu)" guy (Ven), the "pretty and fantastic, and everyone loves her (Mary-Sue)" girl (Aqua), and the "emo guy who eventually turns evil" (Terra). Though, I guess, Sora, Kairi, and Riku are the same way. But, then again, I don't really like those three either.

 

Just Some Really Nit-Picky Things

I really could have gone for some good, old-fashioned character development. Lea and Isa could (and should) have been explained a bit more. Same thing goes for all of the scientists. The whole reason why I was so excited about BBS was because I thought that the Somebodies were really going to get some development, and that they'd get stories of their own. Not so. They didn't even really dwell upon any of them at all. The most any of them got was a brief mention in passing, or maybe they'd actually show up in the game for a split second, if they were lucky. (Hey, weren't they the main villians in Kingdom Hearts 2? Don't you think they deserve maybe a little bit more attention?)

I don't think Ven was trying to save everybody. Mostly, just Terra. In my opinion Terra was more the Gary Stu. Well, I don't know about a Gary Stu but he seemed to be a recycled character type. Not much different than Cloud Strife or Squall Leonhart. At first I didn't think I'd like him but he grew on me. Ven is supposed to be not that different than Sora and Roxas, so in a way, he's recycled too, but purposefully. As for the Organization members, there's going to be multiple new games. Maybe one of them will delve deeper onto their pasts. For me the only ones who are interesting enough to make a game about are Lea and Isa. Ansem's apprentice's stories are practically already told in the Ansem reports. Well, 9-11's pasts might be interesting.

Its not nit picky, I mean its pretty noticeable.

The ONLY reason BBS is tolerable to me is because you got to learn about why certain things and people are the way they are in the other installments. It also gives a reason for the KH series to continue instead of leaving us with a bland story line with us knowing absolutely nothing.

Honestly, I love the whole way BBS is set up, the connections just keep me on edge and yes I believe that some repeated character models/concepts is a bit cliche, but it gives it more of a reason why Sora was chosen and why his friends are involved with it also. It answers some of the questions I had when I first played KH1 and it is still making me wonder just how far these connections and bonds go.

I agree with Handsome_the_Wise that Ven's model (Sora and Roxas' model concept/character) was recycled purposely to help understand more of why the Keyblade went to Sora and exactly why Sora is a special person and what his future appearance and purpose in a future KH may be and who helped shape that future and etc.

So I was dissapointed I didn't see that In terras at all, and not sure about aquas cause I didn't beat it yet. And ven is the only story I know that I know that has any of the org members. So that was dissapointing.

Didn't like it much. Playin in different worlds wasn't much fun, cause I beat them in like 5 minutes. Each world had a very small plot and time to beat besidea neverland, radiant garden, and keyblade graveyard. And I was dissapointed about the MAJOR difference in the amount of damage aqua did, compared to what terra and ven did. Aqua deals barely any danage what so ever. I am still stuck on vanitas In neverland, and took a long time facing him in radiant garden. I would understand if she was mainly magic and defense, and ven was speed, and terra attack, but there shouldn't be that much of a difference. Like in days, xion did the same as roxas.

 

Cutscenes

Didn't really like them much. I like the ones that were close up, cause then it was clear. But the ones far away or just a little far away, its blurry and just weird. Also, no cutsenes at all were like they were in the trailers, or opening cutscene. For example, the final boss. Xanehort. The cutscenes are clear at some point, and blurry at some point, while in cutscenes, and the opening are clear and they look like real people no fake animated people.

 

Overall

I give birth by sleep a rating of 5 out of 10. It wasn't really good, I was just glad to get a kh game to work on.

really whole base around the kh storyline is nothing new a guy who has a best friend that turns evil trys to kill him then they become friends they both liked same girl.I wish Hideo Kojima took over kh because every game he does is just epic unlike Tetsuya Nomura.I think bbs still looks good and it can't be worst than days.Maybe you guys over hype the game to much

First, it's not their master, second, what else do you actually know? You _CANNOT_ judge this story exclusively as it is only explaining further upcoming story elements (-which by the way you also can't judge exclusively). It's a whole story that is to judge, a whole act if you will, in which you also wouldn't say "Nah, didn't like the second act's fourth scene because it's all like DUH"......So, IF you're going to judge BBS, consider all the other KH games it is corresponding to.

Then let me tell you something: Whenever you watch a movie, a drama, play a game, etc., characters aren't just there, it's more like they have a purpose. This purpose corresponds to the whole story, differentiating both the character and the story. So, again, your explanations are without any reason. If you're going to criticise them, don't just list their DUH-ish attitudes...

It was about why Saix had yellow eyes while Isa hadn't had them.

Wow....did you understand anything that I said, darling? Please stop me if you did. The characters' attitudes and actions are part of the story. They are what make the story complete (or, in this case, incomplete). So, if the characters' attitudes are annoying, what does that make the story? Thought I love him to bits and pieces, I really would not consider Xigbar an important villian. His role in KH2 was not that big at all, and in 358/2 Days he had, maybe, one or two important scenes. The only use he really had was to provide a connection from Days to BBS. He's a plot device, darling, not an important character. There's a very big difference.

You're obviously forgetting that one of the big things about BBS was the involvement of the Apprentices. The way Birth by Sleep was marketed, you would think they would play at good size role, at least. But, no, this is not the case. And I seriously, honestly, doubt that Organization XIII will be in any of the future games. They're done, out of the series for good. The whole conflict involving them is finished. You obviously did not pay very much attention to your beloved Birth by Sleep if you didn't understand the (not so subtle) hints that the next KH game will entirely about Sora trying to find Aqua, Terra, and Ventus. And, after that, what next in the series? Unless, some random evil villain pops up, it doesn't seem like there will be much left in the KH series, sadly.

So it is a trashy game because the story was, in you opinion, lacking or cliche or just bad? What about the game play? Was that not fun? How about mini games? Was it fun to play, in your opinion, forgetting that the story is in your opinion not good? How do you feel about other Kingdom Hearts games? Not trying to be rude, just wondering what your opinion on the other games are. In my opinion, the basic story of Birth by Sleep seemed at least decent, granted I haven't played it, but from all that I have read about it and from watching some cutscenes I would say it is much better than Kingdom Hearts II. That is just my honest opinion, because I really didn't like Kingdom Hearts II's story much compared to Chain of Memories or 358/2 Days or what I know of Birth by Sleeps story.

You can find this everywhere. I don't see it as a problem at all. Almost every self respecting game I have ever played with a decent story has characters like this.

Their Master wasn't evil. Eraqus was a good guy. I really haven't seen that scenario used much. I really don't see how it was sloppy, and it had three separate scenarios, each with it own and mostly unique story that is connected and yet different than the others. Vanitas's story I thought was pretty cool. And also, it was a prequel (made after the game that comes chronologically, story wise, after it. So they had to find a way to make sure it could all fit in with the other Kingdom Hearts games.), a filler, and made to explain how Sora got his keyblade, and other thing in the Kingdom Hearts Universe. You are entitled to your opinion, but I really don't see much wrong with the story.

Ok, I will give you this. They didn't spend much time on some of the characters, and lots of them could have used more time, but they got the main two pretty well, and I suppose that is enough. Hopefully the will expand the other's story in future games.

agree with you to a point. the story is a dead man/poorly disign way of the rip off seires it abased on. it awsners enoguh questions to the point were your "okay that makes sences," and is good for the classic "Origin" story, but liek everything in disney it recyles everything...pathic worms of the earth....
