My impossible hopes for the future of Sonic (Rant)

Posted

I very much hope that the Sonic series receives a new title in which several characters are playable. I hardly care about who they may be-Tails; Knuckles; Amy; Silver; Shadow; Blaze; Rouge; Cream; Omega; Big... It does not matter to me. This has not happened since Sonic 06, and I think that it should have happened a long time ago. If the other characters cannot be playable, then they should at least have some kind of role, however small, in the story; not like in Sonic Generations, but instead actually helping Sonic progress.

I hope that there are no more silly gimmicks involved in the series; that means no more travelling to universes where there are alternate versions of characters who already exist, no more travelling around the world talking to unrealistic humans with an immature ally that looks like they belong with the Care Bears, and no more fighting against enemies who are not Doctor Eggman or do not have some sort of connection to previous events in the series (e.g. the Nocturnus Clan).

I hope that the characters have some level of development as well. Knuckles should stop being portrayed as a moron, and should go back to being as serious as he has been, and Sonic should stop avoiding Amy. Perhaps if he was more accepting of her, she would stop behaving in an annoying and clingy manner.

I just hope that they ditch the 3D style. I doubt I'd buy any new ones anyway (Except Lost World that looks great), but I hate 3D Sonic games with a passion.

Does that mean that you are fine with the 2/2.5D handheld games in the series?

So, Sonic Adventure 3 essentially? I hope for that as well.

Haven't played them except for a little bit of whatever the one with Blaze is, and Advance 3. I enjoyed A3 the first time I played it a lot, now it's good but a little too frustrating. I'm not really a Sonic fan in general. The Genesis trilogy were fun, but not really all that groundbreaking in my opinion. Playing Heroes and watching gameplay of 06 and Unleashed turned me away from the 3D ones. I think Nintendo's helping Sega get on the right track though.

I hope they make Tails,Knuckles and Shadow playable because they're really overdoing it with the whole Sonic alone thing

I know the stupid Sonic fanbase gave Sonic team a Friendophobia that resulted in lacking any sort of playable characters aside from Sonic...the last time another character was playable in a Sonic platformer was Blaze The Cat in Sonic Rush Adventure on the DS

There is no excuse for not adding other characters now that Sonic no longer has the stupid Boost to Win mechanic.

Heck, they can use Shadow who plays exactly like Sonic if they don't wanna change much, that would add to the story and keep the gameplay as it is

Honestly, I have only played a small number of handheld Sonic games, and nothing else. I own the Genesis trilogy via the DS classic collection, and though the games are enjoyable at times, I believe that they are fairly overrated.

Try Sonic Adventure 1 & 2

Those are great games especially Adventure 2 my favorite Sonic game of all time

don't let a bad game or two turns you away from other good games in the series.

And another advice...DON'T LISTEN TO THE SONIC FANBASE....EVER

The Wisps are being used to replace the characters, because they give Sonic abilities that other characters naturally have, which is unfortunate.

I desperately want Knuckles to become playable again. I think that his gameplay has always been interesting.

The Genesis trilogy is great but the fanbase has overglorified it waaaaaaay to much as if everything that came after it is garbage compared to them

Heck I prefer Adventure 2 over Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 anyday

One thing that I want to happen that I know never will is for both of the Sonic Adventure games to receive 3DS ports.

As much as I like the wisps...they can never replace other characters as they have time limit

Unlike Knuckles that can climb walls and dig underground whenever he wants

I loved flying as Tails and it's one of the reasons I play as him in Sonic 3

I'd be down for a Sonic Adventure 3.  I honestly never got into the 2D games, but SA1 and 2 are favorite games of mine to this day.  I think the multiple character slant will be cool if they don't overdo it.  That's the main reason I liked the SAs: the multiple styles of gameplay.  Except Big's.

They're overrated, but still fun. Definitely not something that can compete with giants like Mario and Mega Man, though.

I might try them, but I heard from people with a similar stance on Sonic that the Adventure games weren't too good. Not bad, but not too great. I honestly don't think 3D controls suit Sonic, they feel way too awkward.

I have so many things I wish SEGA would do with Sonic...Dear SEGA:As a nearly Life-Long fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, I have played many of the franchises titles. This includes the 20th Anniversary title, Sonic Generations. Myself, along with many other fans, enjoyed and completed this titles content. And while you may have just produced Sonic Lost World, and are currently developing an unannounced Sonic title, many of us would like to see Sonic Generations Downloadable Content released on PSN, Steam, and the Nintendo E-store. This content could be anything along the lines from stages from the Classic-Dreamcast-Modern eras, to more items in the Skill Shop. How this would benefit you: Sales would skyrocket. Many Sonic fans, old and new, would purchase not only Sonic Generations, but the DLC for this title. Companies that see the rising success of the content may decide to invest in your companies future projects. Please consider this idea.Sincerely~A Fan

Sonic Generations is too outdated to produce official DLC for now. It's a great idea, but it's also too late.

Yeah I wish SEGA made me playable again. The only time I'm ever playable is when there's a spin-off Sonic game like the Olympic Games, Sonic Riders, ect.

Sonic Generations is the only game that I ever wanted to have dlc and I was pretty sure it would have happen because of the casino night zone dlc that was a pre-order bonus and Sonic Unleashed had dlc,so why not Generations
