Would Organization XIII be considered a cult?

Featured Replies

Doubt it, since they don't have any established set of principles/beliefs that define an Org member, nor are even together out of any sense of fraternity or sorority. They exist to (secretly) screw each other over while collecting hearts.

Hmmm....

"Join the Organization. Our long term goal is getting our hearts back by taking Kingdom Hearts. Our short term goal is getting hearts from Heartless to get our hearts back. Join us... We have free cookies."

yeeaaaaaah.... Seems legit.

Add to the fact that that entire premise was proven a LIE in DDD...yeah, totally. I can see it as a cult.

"a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object."

By this definition no, while they have a devotion (darkness/getting their heart back) but they don't have a devotion to a figure like MX or Xemnas or an object, they just have a common objective.  Like a business or organization

Organization XIII is a he-man-woman-haters club; Larxene was only let in because everyone was too scared of her to say no

And Xion doesn't count- those of you who played Days know why

Cult:

3. The formal means of expressing religious reverence; religious ceremony and ritual.
4. A usually nonscientific method or regimen claimed by its originator to have exclusive or exceptional power in curing a particular disease.
5.
a. Obsessive, especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing.
b. The object of such devotion.
6. An exclusive group of persons sharing an esoteric, usually artistic or intellectual interest. a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.

Not really, org 13 lacks in the religion department.

However, they do have a group sharing a common goal.

kinda.

I am apart of some cults... in a way it is.

Cults usually have a central goal and try to get it done, or make a point.

i would think so.

Like the people posting the definitions, cults are strictly religious. Often times they are fanatics that split off to follow their own beliefs. By that logic, no. They are the beginning of something new, they couldn't have possibly split off from anything. They're also not religious.

Fool. No, it's an organization.

Yeah, they are a sex cult.

No . Org.XIII is not a cult .It's an organization that collects hearts .

I think they have cult-like elements because they devote themselves to get their hearts back and such...but there is no religion. That's why they are the Organisation 13 and not the Cult 13 :)
