(Note:I didn't add SRPG "Strategy RPG" to the vote because it falls into the category of turn based combat)
I bet some of you guys have played a lot of RPGs during your gaming lives(except for those who played no RPG but Kingdom Hearts),some action RPGs like Kingdom Hearts or some turn based traditional JRPG like Final Fantasy,Pokemon......etc.
Which style of those two do you prefer?Action RPGs or Turn-based ones?
Personally,at first I used to prefer action RPG but nowadays I fell in love with the turn based style for two main reasons:It's strategic and it requires you to think.
Yeah some action RPGs like some of the Tales of games have some strategic elements to them, but in most cases with other games most of the time it resorts into button mashing affair with you spending most of your time with the boss mashing the X or the A button....sure it's fun to do in some games when it's done well but for me it doesn't feel as satisfying as devising the ultimate strategy with the right combination of spells, special skills and weapons to completely annihilate your opponent.
That's why I love the old FF games so much alongside other turn-based RPGs in the genre...but that's just me.
