Mario Kart TV Drifts onto Your Smart Phones and Devices

Posted

Nintendo expands into smart devices with their first app being something all too similar to Mario Kart fans excited for Mario Kart 8. Mario Kart TV is a service where you can watch, edit, and upload your replays and highlights to YouTube. You can find it in your online services on Mario Kart 8, however, Nintendo's bringing it out to a more mobile environment.

Hmm...

Meh.

Nothing big really, but I might as well get the app. :/ It'll be more fun looking at this stuff through the Wii U, though. :D

Finally, Nintendo's doing something modern.

They more or less have no plans to go any farther than a simple app to go with a service already available in a game. They're staying very firm on having no games come out for smart phones and devices.

I don't care if they don't release games on smartphones and tablets. As long as they use modern technology.

Well it's good for marketing at least.Sure this is something I can do on my copy of Mario Kart 8 through MKTV,but at least other people who don't have the game can download the app, watch replays that may actually convince them to buy it

As long as it's just apps like the Pokedex app and the MKTV app...I'm fine with it

That's true, didn't think of the marketing potential. Hopefully this will help sell more copies (Not like it's not already going to sell really well, but more copies/Wii U's being sold wouldn't be bad).

Not to mention you can watch replays and highlights, among other things to do with the app on the go. Maybe you wanna see if someone beat your time trial score on Rainbow Road for example, but you're out in town, the app allows you to continue that connection with the community outside of just your house.

That, too. Although if they upload the replays to Youtube, there's always that option. I guess this works better in the end, though.

But would you rather search YouTube for it, or be notified by MKTV about it?  As you've said this works better. It's not a bad move on Nintendo's part. They're expanding the community.

I didn't say it's bad, I said I'll get it. I just think it's kinda strange since they've never done this before. :

Yep, knew I worded it wrong. xD

I was putting my own thoughts in on it.

Seems interesing, though I doubt I would use it much. Atleast it will shut up for awhile, investors that want them to release mobile stuff.
