At four points around the mountain known as Evraius the Teragren captains went over the situation once more to be sure there was no confusion; this was a volunteer mission, there was a high risk of death, and once the climbers passed the Teragen gates onto the premises of Evraius they were no longer under the protection of the Teragren army, and nobody would help but the rest of their team members.Of the 19 volunteers that passed the test to be accepted into the Evraius mission there were now four teams, each of 4 or 5 people. The army had brought them to the four gates that separated Evraius from the Kingdom of Teragren. The strategy was that they may be more effective if they could split the Kamyn attention and thus have a better survival rate. Now the four teams sat at their respective gates, facing the world changing mountain that would be their future; Evraius. The teams were split up in the following ways:Gold Team, made up of Drale Vay, Amber Dolor, Cornelius Bastion, and Sandrew.Silver Team, made up of Sonya Bishop, Kinzoku Mors, Averain, and Jasper SummersIron Team, made up of Alice Thornsberry, Emert Berger, Morgan Etiam Vinctum, and Doctor Pellinore WartropPlatinum Team, made up of Apollo, Lance Alburght, Varion Hain, Fairy, Aya Kozakura, Sairi KozakuraEach of the gates rumbled opened painfully and slowly, with a history of destruction and cruelty beyond their metal bars."Okay." Each captain spoke to the respective teams as they mounted their horses once again and steered back toward the road."You all have 5 minutes to greet your new teammates and enter the gates. The magical locks will automatically close them again after that point. There won't be any returning until you have something substantial to return with." The gist of each captain's parting words were. They had all rehearsed together so the information would be similar for each group. It also helped mask the fear. And then each group was left alone, each with a gate and a beaten dirt path beyond it sitting before them. It was time to start the introductions and get going. It was time to start the climb.Watching every gate through spectral projections, Adriev pondered. He stood in a pure white room with 5 others. After watching the four teams for a few moments he turned to his peers: Efenton, Girver, Dante, and Vortimer. Only one was missing."So..." He spoke slowly, weighing every word. "What shall we do about this?"

Sanya was almlst done with the wireframe fire sphere. She had ignored the fighting and she darkness and all, really she was almost done.

Then Cathos teleported right next to Vaerfius. She cursed.

"Idiot! You'll get hit!"

She kept going. If he wanted to die, he could die. Just meant the groups would be a climber short. Oh well. She already had been a casualty.

She poured on the speed. Two more seconds...two more seconds and the wireframe fire sphere, completed, would then compress, cutting through all who was in the sphere.

What happens, happns. Sanya wasn't responsible for paying not paying attention.

Cornelius looked around at the section of labyrinth Gold Team was in.

"I can't argue there." he replied to Sandrew. "Alright, Ferro, if you could help Sandrew along. Follow Amber, she seems to have a grasp of things."

The Young Researcher created a scaplle in his right hand and walked over to Drale.

"You still with us, friend?" He asked, trying to see how much of the shadow still had Drale.

Near to where the battle with Vaefrius was waging, Griver lands down with care.  Looking ahead on a large rock, he thinks:  Alright, there he is.  And there is Vortimer.  Having a sort of suspicious feeling, Griver looks up at the sky.  Being darker than usual, he crosses his arms and thinks:  Hm.  It's not usually this dark unless.....Vortimer plans to use "that" huh?  If that's the case, then things will wrap up quickly and there'd be no point for me to be here.

Vaefrius was not pleased with the situation. Not pleased in the least. The judge fellow has blown away his attack, and Griver had now arrived.

"Griver? You're here too? I'm so honored, I get two lap dogs for my trouble." He then looked to the sky... Vortimer's work. This could get complicated.

"All this for me, Vortimer? You really do go all out don't you? So sweet." Vaefrius plucked a pebble from the ground and glared at Vortimer. He asked for it...

"Hey Vaefrius! You just destroyed your own tower. I bet that sucks. How does it feel to be cast out by your own kind?" a voice taunted behind him. He turned to face Cathos.

"You cocky little freak..." Vaefrius went from annoyed to infuriated. "Nobody cast me out of anything. I left. Anything I want, I get...If I want you dead..." He threw the pebble at Cathos going somewhere around mach speed and then leaped towards him, his fist cocked, unbelievable force building in up in it as he jumped.

"Then I'm sure as hell going to be able to kill you!"

Now with one spider on the ground, disabled and flailing about, one cut in half, and one without a couple legs and a head, the voice returned to the white chamber as all three disappeared in a sort of vaporization.

"Initial counter-measures failed. Deploying final counter measure."

Then it appeared. It could be described as a spider but it had 3 times the legs, and most spiders didn't have three heads... all equipped with the magical beams. It was about the size of one third of the room, and it towered over Jasper and Tristan. It raised two of it's it legs and snapped them down towards Jasper as all three heads focused on Tristan and fired at him from slightly varying angles, making them difficult to block entirely.

Cathos~~~~~

As fast as Vaefrius could move, a mind could move faster. Cathos saw the pebble as if in a dream. He swatted it easily into the ground with a simple flick of the mind. Then, just before the Kamyn struck, Cathos opened the trap wide. It was designed to redirect the force of the blow through the conduit Cathos jabbed into Vaefrius's mind. Cathos felt the incredible power flow through; none of it touched him. He wondered whether part of the Kamyn's mind would survive to be examined after. Cathos still had not found any knowledge on the Kamyn yet.

Ferro~~~~~

Ferro dashed after Amber, the platform with Sandrew trailing behind him. Vell had taken up a mad cackle. Not for the first time, Ferro wondered how sane the crossbow really was; at least Vell couldn't aim or fire himself. Ferro detected a grim feeling coming off Birgitte, and from Chips he felt excitement. Ferro didn't really feel anything at the moment; he just wanted to get out of this cave. He preferred forests to caves, generally.

Cornelius looked around at the section of labyrinth Gold Team was in."I can't argue there." he replied to Sandrew. "Alright, Ferro, if you could help Sandrew along. Follow Amber, she seems to have a grasp of things."The Young Researcher created a scaplle in his right hand and walked over to Drale."You still with us, friend?" He asked, trying to see how much of the shadow still had Drale.

The muffled sounds of Drale's voice indicates that he is still with you. He sounds very angry. "I normally like shadows. This is an exception. It's made worse by the fact that I can't control these shadows, as they seems to be tainted with the Kaymn's magic. I now hate the taste of shadows." He thought to himself, as he waited for Cornelius to do something.

"Hold still, then." Cornelius advised, bringing the scalpel closer.

He carefully made an incision in the shadow, making sure not to cut Drale along the way. After he had made the cut a foot long, he stuck his hand in. A field of hard light extend from his hand and enveloped Drale. Once done, Cornelius expanded the field, ripping destroying the shadows that had enveloped his ally.

"Sorry if that was uncomfortable, but time was off the essence." He explained. "We best catch up with the others. Amber is leading the way and setting a quick pace."

Now.

Fire raged as Vaerfius charged at Cathos. With the Kamyn so focused, they didnt bother to stop her. So now from all directs, lines of raging fire sped towards the Kamyn and Cathos,  going from blazing red to a fiery blue. As the ropes of fires got closer they got hotter, and if Cathos and the other Kamyn near Vaerfius wanted to not get turned into perfect square chunks of flesh, they would need to act quickly - the fire contracted faster and faster every second.

"It is time..."

(You fool.)

Staring at the large mechanical spider as it fired beams from its three heads and towards Tristan Tristan readied his sword "Son of a this things like a spider version of Cerberus" Dodging under the center spider heads beam Tristan side stepped the right spider head beam and sliced through the left examining the spider's shape as he moved Tristan quickly began to develop a plan in his head "(right this ones allot larger then the last three spiders and it has more legs to plus those three heads constantly firing beams with that is clear the best plan of action would be to get into the spiders blind spot which would be behind it considering its size takes up about one third of the rooms space it wont be able to move around to easily in here so best option like before take down the legs first maybe after that the beams on the head and then i could finish it off with my strengthening magic no taking the three heads should be enough to take it out of commission alright then lets do it like this)" Turning his head to look to Jasper Tristan spoke "Jasper I have a plan for taking this thing down so lets do like we did with the smaller spiders take the legs down first I'll deal with the back two you get the front two that should help knock the spider off balance after that we'll deal with the heads got it"

As if in answer to Tristan's idea, the giant spider-like mechanical behemoth turned its heads towards Jasper, and jolted forward in what was as much of a leap as it could get. All of it's legs repositioned and pointed downward towards him, leaving Jasper very little room to get out of the way. It was looking for blood.

Gold

(Oh hey Gold team, long time no see!)

Finally in the distance of the labyrinth a white light appeared, calling to the Gold team who had been so long trapped in the darkness of the cave. It was within reach... finally an exit. Then in an instant a silhouette appeared in the far off doorway.

The voice that came next was infamous. Adriev the leader and the the one who communicated to all humans of the Kamyn's powers.

"Looks like you nuisances need a personal touch."

Adriev tossed a strange orb towards the Gold team. It hit the ground and rolled ominously towards them. Finally it burst out in light. Some sort of flare of flash grenade? But then the light that exploded from the orb reformed and made ridiculously bright figure made entirely of light in some of humanoid figure. Adriev disappeared and the light figure formed some sort of spear in it's hands. Everything around it was fully illuminated, and as the figured bean to charge the group shadows morphed and changed around it. Eventually the figure was sprinting... directly toward Amber. It jumped in the air as it got near, it's luminosity more or less a blinding effect before the whole team, and it threw the spear at Amber only a few feet away...

In Sandrew's head while this occurred, Adriev's voice returned. "Do you wish that this could all go away? All this pain? This anguish? I can make it so. Think on it and soon I will let you be free from all of this if you so choose."

Vaefrius had his mind shattered. Even as a Kamyn he had lacked the composure and reason to see through the trap or survive it, but now Cathos's trap had broken most of the psyche that had remained. As Vortimer overpowered him and began to choke him Vaefrius's fist went white hot, as he mindlessly channeled every ounce of momentum into them, and drove them into Vortimer's left arm. Before even looking to see what effect it had on Vortimer, Vaefrius, with his bland rage, smashed his hand into the ground, and the intense vibrations caused two separate rifts in the ground, snaking towards Griver and Cathos, and then ripping open form the force of the initial punch, and opening up a gigantic pit beneath both.

Vaefrius then turned to look what his attack had done to Vortimer, because he wasn't done yet... all while Sanya's ropes of fire drew closer and closer...

Cathos~~~~~

Cathos's eyebrows raised in surprise even as he teleported onto a platform of greymatter outside the burning sphere. The Kamyn was already so far gone that the loss of his mind had not killed him. Ah well. Other people would finish him off. Cathos turned his gaze across the whole group, especially the two that had just appeared. They looked to be Kamyn, too. He would let the one tussle with Vaefrius. Cathos teleported onto a new platform a short distance from Griver, lifting him above the yawning chasm opening up and setting him on the platform next to him. He did not let his guard down, keeping up his thought shield. "Kamyn, I have not come to fight you, but to find answers."

Ferro~~~~~

"Look out!" Ferro yelled as he threw Birgitte with all his might at the light being. Even as he did this, the plates supporting Sandrew set him down gently and came up to float around Ferro, ready to deflect attacks. Vell stopped his cackling once the attack started, and Ferro grabbed him and fired several shots of white fire at the silhouetted Kamyn down the hall.

Emert Berger:

So many things were happening at once. A fire-sphere that was rapidly closing in upon them; Gods fighting against each other; a pack of Climbers whom struggled to stay out of harms way and evade the many attacks and explosions that threatened their lives. Emert growled lowly as he hunkered down to the ground. This was beyond irritating! There was no way he could, even as High Judge, best these Kamyn without aid--he could at least deal with the trap....and find whomever it was that set it. He swore to it. So as long as he stood, he would deal with the obstacles and defend his allies.

"By my sword!" Emert shouted, readying his twin swords. He gave a moment's glance to the mayhem around him as he turned to the rope trap, "No hope for you! Away you go!" Emert shouted, slicing the air with two powerful strokes. The movements sent out slices of energy that slammed into the trap. Emert had no clue if it was even working--as he was already turning around--sending more slashes towards every inch of the rope as he could. Hopefully while he did this, his allies could manage to beat back the Kamyn.

"I'll not take the way out you want me to; and instead I'll find my own way out... I'm not ready for this challenge, but there's a not a whole lot I'm ever ready for, anyway." Sandrew replied to the Kamyn in his head. "I'm not gonna change my mind... Even if it's not the easy path like I would like, I'm gonna give it my all to get out of here without taking an easy path; That path might kill me anyway. I'll loose either way, probably, but I won't loose because I fall into a trap you've made for me!" Sandrew was already terribly exhausted, but if he were to survive, he had to suck it up. "I'm not much of a fighter, but I can increase other's strength!" Sandrew yelled, taking aim at Ferro, he fired a bolt of light at him, which made him glow slightly. "Physical strength and speed is what I can help with right now!" He informed the others, staggering back, however. He was already bordeline about to pass out from exhaustion, but he helped best he could, coughing a little, he also sent some energy to Cornelius to help him, but now Sandrew was to a knee.

"So much for pleasantries.  'Lap dogs'?  Don't be so kind Vaefrius."  Griver responds to him.  Ready to make an attack, he sees Vaefrius launching his own.  Looking at the former ally, Griver shakes his head and says:  "He has fully lost his mind."  When the chasm emerged underneath him, Griver blinked and said:  "Huh."  But soon after he finds himself being lifted and being moved.  He looks to see one of the climbers lifting him up.  Griver was utterly surprised a human assisted him out of something.

Landing on the platform, he straighten his coat and says:  "I could've gotten myself out of harms way, but I appreciate your indulgence."  Listening to Cathos, Griver replies:  "There's no need to worry.  I didn't come to fight you or the other climbers.   Answers?  Well, whatever questions you may have, they will have to wait.  I came to deal with a certain traitor."

Gold

(Oh hey Gold team, long time no see!)

(Such a pleasant sentiment, yet I am still filled with dread. Heh.)

Cornelius actually smiled ever so slightly when Adriev first spoke. Finally.

The Young Researcher was stunned momentarily by the light burst, but recovered quickly to pop up a large tower shield in front of Amber with his family crest etched on it to protect her from the spear. Cornelius actually flinched when the spear it and his hard light shield cracked visibly. He was considering his options when he felt a jolt of power run through him. It took only a moment for the Researcher to deduce what had happened. He needed to focus, but he made a mental note to thank Sandrew later. He tightened his control, causing the shield to get larger and grow spikes. He reached back with his arms and threw them forward, a shout accompanying the movement. The shield shattered and bits of it like shards of glass pelted the area the Light Creature was standing.

Jasper

"You've got to be joking!" Jasper shouted as the spider-bot's legs came down towards him. He didn't have enough time to switch into his pulse boots, or to jump safely out of the way, giving him only one option, other than standing around and hoping someone else would save him. Jasper jumped in the direction of the spider-like mech, and with a flurry of sword slashes, cut through enough of the creatures legs to get through to the creatures underside. Jasper pointed his trusty longsword at it's belly, and mentally prepared himself as well as he could for plenty of pain.

Amber

Amber watched as the spearman of light charged towards her and threw his spear at her, followed by both Ferro and Cornelius swiftly coming to her aid. Under normal circumstances, she would be incredibly grateful, and would meekly thank the both of them. But in her dark form, all she saw were two people who saw her as helpless, and came to rescue her before she even had a chance to rescue herself. Needless to say, that didn't make her happy. "I'm not damsel!" she shouted, before shoving Cornelius out of the way, charging at the figure of light, and giving it a bone crushing right hook to the temple.

Noticing the Spider go for Jasper Tristan glared "Son of a..." Quickly reacting Tristan jumped high into the air until he was above the spider "I didnt want to us this but looks like that spider's smarter then i though" Holding his sword over his head Tristan spoke "Strengthening Magic Awaken" a bright blue glow began to surround his body and sword as the muscles on his body began to look like there were tightening "(Dont over do it 50 tones should be more then enough)" Sharpening his sight towards the spiders upper half Tristan reached the roof of the room and using it as extra footing Tristan launched himself from the roof leaving an impact mark from where he jumped "50 Tone Slash" With the sound of slicing metal echoing through the room Tristan appeared standing in front of the mechanical spider panting heavily and holding his sword to his side slowly turning towards the spider its three heads simultaneously fell from the spiders body along with a portion of its front half "After this i really have to say i have a disliking for spiders and..." About to finish speaking Tristan fell to his knee's "I over did it"

"NO!" Sanya cried. Her ropes were breaking under the strain. She poured more power in, but she was draining too fast. Usually this was a cinch no matter how tired, but with that guy bashing her rope trap without pause, she couldn't keep it. The trap broke and sizzled out, Sanya dropping altitude. The idiots. The idiots. They ruined her trap for Vaerfius in two ways - one by not paying firetrucking attention, and now by breaking it.

Breathing, Sanya's flames grew hotter. She had to hit that rogue Kamyn before the Climbers lost too many people. He had sustained mild hits from what she saw, and if they were going to reach to top alive, they'd need to work together. So, channeling, a fiery visage of a phoenix enveloped her. Wings spread wide, she dived down at Vaerfius with everything she possible had, pouring on all her fire, everything she had. Phoenix Down was one of her few area of effect attacks that could actually work in severely hurting Vaerfius...she just needed a direct hit...

Pouring on the fire, she rocketed at the Kamyn, the remaining cinders of Fire Sphere added in as she went. She failed once. Not a second time.

The spider's heads that lay on the ground suddenly crushed into little balls. Kinzoku walked next to Tristan, her fist clenched. It was evident that she had manipulated the metal of the heads to condense in on themselves. "For good measure." She muttered, glancing up at Jasper and Tristan. Then she smiled weakly. "Sorry, needed a breather. Ready to go now though." She said to her companions.

-----

The Doctor had been riding atop John (his Vukodlak), for the duration of the battle so far. There hadn't been an attack that had been too difficult to dodge as of yet. The creature was nimble, despite it's size, and perceptive. The Doctor would occasionally glance up and watch as the Kamyn battle amongst each other, but for the most part, he focused on his notebook. He was continuing to write down the record of the Vivo Lapis. This development would cement his place in the history books. He just needed to keep himself alive long enough to publish it. The Doctor whistled as he worked. His passion was unparalleled, and if he had something else had called him, perhaps the military, or a more typical field of science, there was no doubt he would have been among the best in that. But monstrumology was his life's work, so he worked in the shadows to keep the light habitable.

Sanya slammed into Vaefrius, who's white hot eyes glanced down then at the fiery tear in his torso. He fell to the ground, and for a moment his eyes returned to normal.

"Ha...haha....ha..." His laughing was interrupted by huge spouts of blood. "You fools.... heh.... you don't even know.... you think they are gods.... you think that some special magic you all have.... hahaha.... there's so much you don't understand.... couldn't... hahhahaha... couldn't understand."

He stared with cold, hateful eyes towards Vortimer, Griver, Emert, Sanya, Cathos, Alice, Morgan and the Doctor.

"It doesn't matter though.... because you'll all be dead!"

He raised his fist and pounded it into the ground with ridiculous force, tearing himself apart in the process, but also bursting the entire area of ground the group stood on, forcing them to tumble deep below....

When they finally hit something far below the surface the group found themselves in a eerily lit chamber with torches, somehow still lit, hanging on all the walls. There was nothing in the room besides several barren altars and a single sword set into a stone as well as a gigantic stone door on the other side of the chamber.

"Griver, Vortimer." Adriev's voice sounded within the minds of the two Kamyn. "Make your way back to the main base. We shall consult more there. I will handle this group for now."

Then in the silence of the underground chamber, where The Doctor, Alice, Cathos, Emert, Sanya, Morgan all now lay, Adriev's voice entered their mind.

"This is unexpected. I do apologize for Vaefrius's intrusion, but in the end it seems no harm was done. Welcome to the ceremonial chamber. Long ago this place was used for religious purposes of a belief system long lost... but." The hole by which they had all fallen in suddenly seemed to seal above them, leaving nothing but the ominous torchlight. "This room shall be very useful indeed. You see the only door the remains you must be opened by the ancient rite of blood sacrifice. That sword must be used on someone in this room. It need not kill, but the wound will be severe beyond repair. To progress you must  pick someone..."

Adriev left a thick silence in the room before offering his final bit of information.

"I'm here to help though, so let me give you some information. You all are well aware you endeavor has been infiltrated by spies, yes? They seek to kill you all and still my people's power. Let me be so kind as to give you the information that may prove so useful...."

"Morgan.... or The Doctor...or Cathos. One or more of these three is the spy you seek. Perhaps there in lies the answer as to who to sacrifice. Either way, I'll leave you to some talking and a very important decision...."

As the giant mechanical spider fell to the ground, defeated, the door at the end of the room finally opened.

"Counter-measures failed. High-level status confirmed. Entry allowed." The familiar voice intoned throughout the room again.

The room beyond the door was filled with newly-made bandages, fresh food including various fruits, pies, and meats of various types. The room was all white like before. There were three doors in the room; the one that connected the Silver team's room to it, another door very similar to that one, and a huge metallic door with strange symbols written on it.

It seemed safe enough and it was probably worth discovering what they might find in the room ahead.

...or who.

Gold

Taking a huge amount of damage from Cornelius's attack, and then the follow up from Amber's punch, the light figure exploded in super-headed waves, which struck anyone in the nearby area, searing them.

But as the explosion faded the exit to the cave became more clear, and now nothing stood between gold team and their destination.

Right beyond the exit to the cave lay an open grove. A good place to resupply and possibly talk a little bit after such an ordeal. In the center of the grove was a single pedestal with a button on it, waiting to be pressed after the team had perhaps relaxed a bit.

Platinum

"Ryu," Adriev's voice reached his subordinate. "For now I must ask you to retreat. You will get a chance to battle fools like this very very soon, but there is something for more interesting for them to encounter and time is of the essence."

Behind Ryu the door to the underground area opened up to the Platinum team.

Apollo, Lance, Varion, Fairy, Aya, and Sairi now faced their newest challenge.

The room beyond was all white, and was stocked with needed supplies; fresh foods like fruits or meats, and bandages and medical supplies. Besides the supplies, the room had two doors. One was a huge metal door that had symbols all over it.

The other was a now open door... to another room where three people were coming in from... Kinzoku, Tristan, and Jasper... the Silver team.

Sanya looked at the sword. Great. Just. Great. And he knew of the spies, meaning someone here was a spy. Fantastic...but there was one thing that Adriev couldn't stop...yeah. She could do it. And...she knew what to do. They had to get to the summit. And there was no other way to do it, without someone being hurt or dying.

So, she stepped forward.

"Kill me." She said without feeling. "...I am not afraid of death." The girl closed her eyes. "Don't argue, please. Just kill me, and get to the summit." Sanya's Tiger form emerged, her ears twitching and tsil curling around her leg. She stood by the sword, looking over her shoulder.

"I broke the tower and nearly killed you as it fell. So take your revenge and go."
