I reckon posts in Random and Role Playing should be disabled. These are not Good Quality posts a lot of the time, and they shouldn't be counted.

Other KH Forums also have it that it doesn't increase your post counts in those two forums.

i think high post counts make people look stupid.

Taking away the post counts shouldn't kill anybody. Post counts are just.....post counts. Having a high post count doesn't make you a good member, neither does having a low post count make you a bad one, so I'm all in for taking the RP post counts away. Nobody should feel bad just because they have 100 post counts and others have 1000. As long as you are contributing well to the site, I think that's the only thing that matters.

I still stand on this, but the Random forum posts should be disabled too.

you stand on someone getting 999 useless posts getting taken away? it just means they'd have to actually contribute a bit to real discussions.

Well, now that you say that, I have a slight change of opinion. Everybody doesn't post in discussions about KH and otherwise, some people just come on for the Random forum or the RP, and it wouldn't really be fair to just take those counts away from them (even though they don't really matter). Maybe there should be an option if people choose to take their post counts away or not, but the RP and the Random forum post counts from now on should be disabled in my opinion.

they don't really matter

that right there. 3:

i dont care how much you guys love your super high spam filled post counts, it does nothing for you other than make you look like a fool. honestly, taking post counts away in roleplay would be good for a lot of you. in fact, i bet half of the people that post there would stop posting, since the only reason half of the members go there is easy post count.

random can go next, but first things first, roleplay does not need post count.

I think it's quite stupid that they count, high post counts do not get you anywhere if they are filled with spam and how do you feel when other people on the forums read 4-lined sentences in the RP section? It looks terrible and unintelligent. I'm not attacking anyone here, but I'm just stating the fact of how it looks. The RP section should not count and as a matter of fact, I think it would best fit under Forum Games somewhere. Next to go would be Random. I don't understand why high post count fascinates some people, when it is the quality of what you have to say and the respect you have for others and contribution is what counts the most.

This is why you are so awesome, cricket.

I really don't care too much, but I do kinda agree that it's stupid that RP counts for posts, especially since high post counts mean nothing. I'd be for it.

I reckon we should have a Post Count list like the one we have now but the RP And Random Forum posts dont count towards it.

This would make everyone happy.

Can't be done (someone would have to write a plugin for it).

I do however like your suggestion, more than anything else. There could be two post counts listed, "Total Posts", which is what we have now, and... idk, something else that doesn't include spam. What does everyone else think of that, would that solve your problems?

seriously, i wouldn't care what happens, i mainly come here for kh updates anyways, or to post something i noticed, or that i had a question about, i mean sure, i do KIND OF enjoy reaching a new post count, but i do realize that it doesn't matter, in fact, i do support posts not counting in those areas,

um, not entirely sure if i understood that, but you know what you are doing, i have no complaints

Why not just disable the post counts altogether? >.> I mean, the numbers only represent how many posts one has made. I don't see the big deal about it.

Venny mentioned that but other members would be even more pissed off about that either won't post or post heaps, creating more spam everywhere.

This would not make EVERYONE happy. Most rpers would be very UNHAPPy about this so dont act like this is a happily ever after.

Im all for it, like the others say it might inspire intelligent discussions, as opposed to rushes to the top, so high counters can idk intimidate or impress others ego feeding basically. I dont mean for this to be like Im having a go at anybody but I cant be wrong in thinking that would be the mentality for some high posters.

However taking them away could invite a kind of civil war among the forums from the middle to high posters who dont want their "thunder" taken away. Worse still trolls might get involved and thats just another world of trouble.

you guys aren't telling us specifically why that would make you unhappy /:

just because of a high number? that's what you guys are making us think, lol.

no one's impressed with that. i can assure you.

That's exactly what I was thinking lol. So we shouldn't take the posts away, we should just not allow posts from now on to count. No need for a civil war on here >_>

i think high post counts make people look stupid.

THERE IS NO THUNDER

I dont think anybody will have a problem with you stopping post count increase in that forum if you just let us KEEP WHAT WE HAVE.

which Ive said about twenty times now.

i think high post counts make people look stupid.

THERE IS NO THUNDER

True but in their heads "thunder" could matter or it mightn't, question is how much trouble are they willing to make over how much non-existent thunder matters. Regardless of how much of a fool they'll look like.

@capp

if they cause trouble ill warn, then ban. its the normal rules.

@ Cella I know if they give any trouble it'll be the the usual for the trouble makers you guys do a good job, Im just saying tread lightly some might not be able to take it so well

Yes it would make everyone happy Everyone would keep all their posts, but we have two ways to keep track of Post counts Total and non Spam posts.

Everyone would keep all their posts. And everyone would be happy.

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG! LIKE A FAMILY! hahahahaha im pathetic,

im pathetic,

You're not why cant we simply kill each other get along like mortal frienemies family?

I honestly don't care if we do both or not. But if I had to choose' date=' I would still choose roleplaying first. But not get rid of role-playings post counts altogether. The way that either section is now, is very contributive to be honest. =

....ffff I'm not writing this again.

What I propose is a subforum where we throw all the one-liners and non-serious roleplaying where it doesn't count for post count. I think it's fair, and teaches people how to role-play, without spamming. Also maybe a "Discuss plots/RPG characters." I also feel we should make some rules/guidelines specifically to the role-playing to somewhat control the "spam" a bit more.

I do think the role-playing is ridiculous how it is now and needs to be addressed. I'm not an expert at role-playing, but the role playing now really does look like it belongs in chat rooms, which keeps me away from it to be honest. I do actually really like role-plays.

A high post count honestly shouldn't matter. There's no real rewarding thing you get from well, spamming. All you get is a number. Does it really matter how hight it is?

The reason why I'm saying role-playing is because to put it.. quite simply.

Role-playing is filled with so many one-liner's it's nearly impossible to keep track of it due to the immense amount of posted spam that's each entire thread.

I would be completely against role playing such as : http://kh13.com/mybb/showthread.php?tid=7580&page=40 --- Though... they have double-posted here and there' date=' and their posts still are rather short, and they have SOME one-liners, we can at least fix the double posting, and at least they're going more into detail than others. Though this one I still would consider a non-serious RP, but it's more detailed and more descriptive than the one-liners. I don't even need to link a one-liner. just go look... If you one-line once or twice, we would understand, but this constant post after post is all we see, it gets the point where it's just like, "so and so did this as this other person did that." -- Well, that's a bit over exaggeration but you should get the point.

Now. This is what I know how a role-play should be to be a "serious post-worthy" :

"Nnnnngh..." I whimpered as I hugged my throbbing head. What happened? The last thing I remember was leaving the track meet with my best friend, Jenn. It had gotten late and we were leaving when I had realized that I left my bag in the bathrooms. Jenn said she would wait for me, and I ran to get it. When I entered the building, everything suddenly went black. As I opened my eyes, I realized I was in the middle of no where. The small building outside of town I had been was gone. There was no concrete beneath my body, only grass and weeds. The stalls were still there, but the toilets looked like someone had taken a sledge hammer to them. I stood up, shaky and confused. I checked myself, to make sure I wasn't hurt. My clothes were intact, and besides the shock, I was fine. My hair wasn't even messy, surprisingly. I blinked twice and nervously looked up.

"Wha--?" Everything I had known was gone. Destroyed. Rusted. Dead. Nothing was really going through my mind, a few thoughts confirming the obvious. I was just struck dumbfounded. Grass was growing where there should be pavement. The buildings were falling apart and creaking to the sound of the wind. Trees were growing, and green plants were everywhere. Flowers I had never seen before grew everywhere and where the track use to be, grew the most beautiful of the flowers. Nature was ruling over the technology. It was showing it's domain over the dead world, and giving it a new life.

As I looked around, I saw what used to be the small town I lived in. The dirt road that lead the way there seemed no different, unlike everything else. It still lead to the town as faithfully as always. Towards my home. My home...

Finally coming back to reality, fear got to me and I looked around for anything near me. To protect me would be better, but I found my backpack next to my leg. It was filled with clothes, a snack bag, a bottle of warm water, and my phone. Somehow, most of my things were also in good condition, just like me. Except the phone. It was missing parts and the buttons where smashed in. There was something on the screen though. How it was still on I'll never know. But it was a text from Jenn. "Jenn... Jenn!" I screamed for her. Where was she? Where was anyone? Were they dead? Did they disappear? Were they taken away? Was this some kind of sick joke? No. They couldn't do this. This... this was done by some monster. And I was alone. That's when it hit me. Alone. Being alone was my biggest fear. Shivering, I sat down and began to cry. "Mom... Jenn... Everyone..." I sat and sobbed for a long time. When I knew I couldn't cry any longer, got up, put on my backpack, and headed for the town, which had to be about a half hour away on foot.

Survive. That's all I could do for now. Just keep going. There's no use in sitting around and crying. That's what Jenn was always telling me. "Keep up a stiff upper lip and keep marching, kiddo! If you don't do something, no one will!" But she's not here to help me now, so I have to do it. I have to do it. All alone.

... do you see how long that is? It's descriptive, while still keeping to a role-playing feel. Role-playing CAN be shorter than that, but one-liners? Come on. >; Generally though, the basic acceptable role-playing is around 5 or so lines, I think.

Here's a "typical" shorter one on the website as well. :

Her instincts weren't all that great' date=' and she trained herself to use a sword. Well, she had some help from her personal guard. He was such a sweetie, he only tried to keep her happy. In the end, she escaped for her one sanity and personal ambitions. It surprised her when this guy appeared out of nowhere and took an apple off the tree. She almost widened her eyes when the sword's tip almost sliced her ankle. He finally noticed her as she reached back to the hilt of her rapier. Pulling it out quickly, she watched as the blade reach over to touch his apple. Though, she didn't look defensive at all. Interaction with people was hard for her, least to say. "Hi...." She said in a quiet voice as her mellow eyes flickered to look directly at him. She pulled her back her sword not seeing any danger and put it back in it's sheath behind her back. Her face was now composed of a more sincere and meek expression, as she smiled most faintly. "Sorry, you almost wounded me. I thought...you were...nevermind." Helena tried to explain as she took a bite out of her apple and she winced a little, to hid her wings back inside her body. Dropping down from the branch with the apple in her hand, she stood in front of him a little bit hesitantly. Surely, he would notice her light blue horns..though. [/quote']

Ontop of that, the ENTIRE role-playing section from this other website I'm on is like that. It has PARAGRAPHS, PLOTS, PUNCTUATION... LENGTH. IN-DEPTH DESCRIPTIVE POSTS. Our section is just ridiculous and uncontrollable. I understand they might "spam other sections more" but meh... D8

I just feel role-playing isn't being used properly. The threads that are there now will still be there, but 90% would probably go into the "non-serious RP" subforum. The roleplays that would DESERVE to count as post count would be in the original section.

Now, I would be fine with random not counting as well, there used to be some threads in there that were actually discussions that were not serious enough to be in any of the others, but now there's more spammy threads than normal. I think it's okay to joke around, but it's like thread after thread after thread. But the reason I would say random should still count for posts counts is that it's giving one section for people to spam, but we can at least monitor it better than the chaos in the role-playing. If it gets too much like a game, we can move it to forum games. If it's to spammy in general we can just remove it altogether.

One last note, a member shouldn't want to spam. They shouldn't want a high post count. They should want at least a CUT like someone else said. It show's you're a good person, a great member, etc. etc.

Personally I love Kaiso's idea. It makes sense. But I guess it was ignored so.... -quote- 8D
