In KH2, sora and riku are trapped in RoD after they have taken down Xemnas. While they were bro'ing out, Kairi's bottled message appeared in the shores and opened a portal for them to return home.

 

Then in the first KH3 teaser trailer, sora picked up the Master Keeper keyblade along the shores of Destiny Islands. That was lost after Aqua transformed LoD into CO.

 

And the latest KH 2.5 trailer, "on that land shall darkness prevail and light expire" is that referring to destiny islands??

 

Is DI connected to RoD??

My theory is that the Ocean of the world connects to other realms probably.Also,it would be make sense that if the ocean connects to other worlds,it would also be mean that Aqua put Master Eraqus's Keyblade to the sea,drifting to the Destiny Island's shore as a result of when Sora found that Keyblade on his island...

It could be possible that Destiny Islands is connected to the Realm Of Darkness, but we'll never know for sure until more of the story unfolds to us in the events of Kingdom Hearts III.  Until then, we may never know what links these places together.

Could be something of a mirror world? perhaps? /speculation

The trailer is non-canon, so that might not actually happen in-game.

We put that together in order to remind you of the story of KHIII, as this time we weren't able to prepare a scene that would show you a portion of the drama.

That teaser was not canon. Nomura even said in an interview it was something Square put together to remind us of what's going on.

 

However, Kairi's letter to Sora...it is baffling as to how it ended up in the Realm of Darkness. Maybe the worlds are connected in more ways than one?

Im sure the teaser of the place meant the keyblade graveyard and not destiny islands but destiny islands is still pretty weird, there's so much we don't know about the place

I think Destiny Island will be with Destiny Town (What I've called it) which is the main land.
