Just a little question, which I kinda know the answer to already, but just out of curiosity did Master Xehanort make Terra a Master? I'm replaying BbS and after defeating Braig, Terra and Xehanort have a conversation in which Xehanort says how Terra should have been the one given the Mark of Mastery, then finally refers to Terra as a Master.

Did Xehanort officiate Terra with the title of Master? I'm assuming as a Master himself, he can confer the title...

Or (more likely) was he just playing games with Terra, saying it in a way that's like "do what I say and that is what you'll be"?

Just curious.

No, Terra is not a master. Xehanort did not make him a master, he only called Terra a master so that Terra would trust and go with what Xehanort was telling him to do.

Talk about mocking with the capital "M", he's not a Master xD

xehanort only using terra whenever he called him a master

Terra is not technically a master, Xehanort only called him that to lure him into the darkness

Just Xehanort playing games as usual

Xehanort tricked Terra into believing that Xehanort had made him a master by calling him a master.

yep having gone back and played it again I agree

Xehanort wanted Terra to trust him. So he just fed him some bull, played to his sympathetic side and then he called him Master: Something Terra has always wanted to be since Day One.

That and Terra is just a gullible little firetruck. :/

I'm pretty sure it's the second one.

Isn't "Master" just a title though?" It doesn't come with anything else after all, so wouldn't Xehanort, a Master calling Terra a Master automatically make him a Master if it's just a title?

That's like if you thought you're a king when I jokingly said your majesty to you

Sure it's just a title but still.....

Except kings have royal blood behind their titles, all Keyblade masters have is their training, which Terra completed. Remember, he only failed because of that flare-up of darkness, which Eraqus didn't approve of, not because he wasn't skilled enough.

Same can be said about Sora as both Sora and Riku sealed all the keyholes in the realm of sleep but Organization XIII was ambushing him

Sora didn't become a master despite the fact that he saved the universe TWICE from Ansem and from Xemnas, previously defeated the majority of Organization XIII members and also managed to open the door to the light when he fought Ansem SoD

That's a ton more than what Terra did mind you yet neither became a master because of literally bullshit reasons

cuz Eraqus has some darkness phobia going on and Yen Sid because.......literally no reason

Don't tell me Sora didn't do enough when Organization XIII staged this whole trap as soon as the test began and were targeting Sora the whole time heck Yen Sid stripped them from their abilities for the test and left them completely vulnerable

Hey, there was a reason for Sora. he fell asleep during the test. lolSeriously, does that boy have narcolepsy or something? He's asleep at the beginning of the first game, then he sleeps for a year after CoM, and then falls asleep during his test.

It's so he doesn't have to work on the raft.

And who did that to him?ORGANIZATION XIII

If Sora had all of his spells and drive forms from KH2 none of that would've happened but for some reason Nomura gotta have a bullshit reason for resetting his abilities every single time

NOMURA YOU DON'T NEED A STORY REASON TO EXPLAIN WHY I GOT firetruckING FIRAGA

I was thinking mayby his dream time was up and then they controlled him.

However Nomura wanted to show us more Ventus.

Unlike pretty much everything else in KH, becoming a Keyblade Master doesn't actually give you any special abilities or anything, it's just a rank

So really there's nothing stopping Terra from being a master, Xehanort's a master, and he called Terra master. It doesn't really matter what happens after that because Terra is all but dead

I was thinking mayby his dream time was up and then they controlled him.

No his time wasn't up this was a trap set by Xemnas and Young Xehanort to capture Sora

One trait of being a Keyblade master is the ability to perform the inheritance ceremony, which Terra did with Riku. Personally I think that is reason enough to assume Terra is a Master. Eraqus didn't give him the title because of his darkness which is just Eraqus' own prejudice. Terra is a Master.

that's just a trait of a keyblade. Aqua didn't perform the ceremony, and still managed to bequeath Kairi a keyblade

Aqua DID perform the ceremony. Nomura stated that there is no grand speech or anything that needs to happen. Terra had a speech with Riku but that wasn't required. Someone of strong heart simply needs to touch the keyblade of a Master. That. Is. It.

but that's the thing

it's nothing to do with being a Master, it just happens
