Through all the information we've received so far on the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III game, two things have been made clear in the storyline: it will focus on Sora, Donald, and Goofy finding the people connected to Sora's heart and Riku and Mickey searching for lost Keyblade wielders.

Now what, pray tell, does that say for our friends Kairi and Lea? What exactly are they going to be doing in KHIII?

Well, I have an idea of what that might be: since Lea is a brand new Keyblade wielder, and Kairi obviously has some kind of important agenda given that Riku brought her to the Mysterious Tower, the two will undergo training to properly wield their Keyblades and eventually join the others on their adventure to bring down Old Man Xeanort and his butt buddies.

Now this can be handled in a way that can give them some proper exposure and training overall, as well as give us a cool gameplay opportunity. How? Simple.

Make them the tutorial! :D

Yeah, think about it: in Kingdom Hearts II, we had control over Roxas for the Seven Days trial to learn basic controls and get a lay out of the game. The same can be said for Kairi and Lea. Yen Sid can probably stick them in some kind of training zone where we'll learn the basic controls like moving, locking on to targets, fighting with the Keyblade, using magic, and all that jazz.

And then maybe once this training is done, both of them will join the others. I can see Kairi hooking up with Sora (and no, I don't mean what you think it means lol) and I can see Lea palling around with Riku and Mickey, respectively. And maybe they can be optional playable characters for certain worlds or events, or maybe we can switch between them and the others at will like a Marvel Alliance game. All in due time, I guess. Also Kairi's role, overall, will most likely be more important that Lea's, considering that she's a Princess of Heart.

Regardless, what do you think is in store for Kairi and Lea? What do you see them doing in KHIII?

Kairi will leave Sora for Lea and then Sora will join the dark side. Then the next series will start up!

Fool. Lea should have stayed dead.

  • For Kairi she'll train for a bit, do some "important" storyline plot stuff then get kidnapped by one of the 12 norts Lea.....uh...maybe train and work back and forth from radiant garden and what not

Finally a thread that doesn't suggest Kairi an Lea teaming up together. I wouldn't mind controlling them during tutorial. Just make darn sure they stay far away from each other, given the history of one kidnapping the other...

A girl gets kidnapped by a likable character, and all of a sudden it's ok to have them team up? I dunno, I find something completely wrong about that idea...

Not jealous. I find the concept of pairing kidnapper with their victim totally ok because the kidnapper is 'hot' very disturbing. Just as disturbing at real world case of women wanting some felon in Stockton, CA released and all charges dropped just because he was hot...

I honestly think it would be good for them to team up precisely because he kidnapped her. And not because he's attractive or likable, but because her having to travel with someone who once endangered her could lead to some very interesting character development. Like swearing that she'd never put Sora through having to worry about her again and then taking steps to become stronger. Having an ever present reminder of her former helplessness and all the trouble it put Sora and Riku through could help motivate her to become strong enough to never have to rely on them again.

Lea is obviously going to have some sorta conflict with Isa and Kairi is probably going to be targeted by Xehanort because she's a princess of light!

I like the idea of them be the tutorial. i hope that's what happens.

I guess them both will need to take some training, right? When Sora got his Keyblade all was chaotic and he never could be instructed correctly, thus Yen Sid made him and Riku learn the proper way AND take the MARK OF MASTERY all at a time.

That can be included in the tutorial if we get to play with them there.

I don't really want a tutorial with different characters like the Roxas scenario in 2. If they had to do it I'd imagine they would with Young Xehanort given that KH3 teaser and all.

Wasn't the "training level with Kairi and Lea" thingy discussed thousand times already? ._." I personally think that Kairi and Lea will definitely have a great role, but the "switching characters" part just made me turn up my nose.. I think Kingdom Hearts III would be better if we could use other characters only occasionally

No please, don't kidnap Kairi again. It's time for her to learn how to defend her self.

First I'm hearing of it, which is why I made a topic about it.

What's wrong with switching characters? I don't want to play as Sora and Riku the whole golddang game. And the way that we've temporarily played as people in the past was really limited anyway. What's wrong with having the same play ability options for other people that aren't Sora or Riku?

I think putting them in a tutorial ultimately serves to make their characters feel trivial, which really doesn't need to be the case. Besides, I don't think either of them necessarily need their main focus in the story to be combat anyways. Lea's main method of wheeling and dealing has been through intrigue, skullduggery, and backstabbing. Chances are, while Sora and Riku are out doing their thing, Lea will be busy doing what he does best. As for Kairi, having her be in "training" is akin to putting the training wheels back on her bike, which I'm really quite tired of. Trial by fire is the best way to do it: let's just have Kairi go out there and do her own thing. Chances are, her and the other Princesses of Heart probably have more than a few things they can be doing, and I'm sure she will just fine on her own.

..Kingdom Hearts III is the last chapter of the Xehanort Saga and it is a numbered title.. Sora must be the focus

Personally, I think that Lea and Kairi won't be a focus however they will have some play-ability in the game. I think they will be playable at the start of the game as a tutorial to how the game works, considering they are on the Mark of Mastery and learning how to wield a Keyblade, I think this will fit perfectly.

Edit: However, I see Kairi being important, seeing as she's a princess of light and all.

You forget that Lea also had to time to use those badass fire chakrams of his. And if you don't care to see him use a Keyblade version of that type of badassery, something's wrong with you.

Oh yeah sure, let's give her another chance to look like a ditz who doesn't know how to use her blade. Look, Dave, she had it in KHII and she did f**k all. She swung it a few times, but still managed to get left behind again forcing Sora and Riku to do all the work. She could stand to practice a little so that it can prove that she's capable as a fighter, which so far in the series, she has not proven at all. You wanna know why Sora and Riku didn't need training wheels at first? Because they were actually fighters; they spent their days on Destiny Islands battling each other with wooden swords, while Kairi just sat and watched. She needs to at least prove she can get off her butt and do something before she actually goes onto the field.

So? The spikeball isn't the only important character in the series. The other heroes shouldn't just have to sit on their hands and do nothing while Spikeball gets all the attention. Give my boy Roxas a chance to use his duel-wielding or Lea using his new fire Keyblade or Riku with his mastery of Darkness or something.

I never said I DON'T want it, I just said that it would work if occurring occasionally

Alright then, but how doesn't it work if its more of a permanent thing? As in we can equip different abilites, items, or Keyblades for them, and have them level up their stats and all that jazz?

Although the pivotal characters are multiple, Sora is the real and one protagonist. The numbered titles always had the focus on Sora since he's the main character and it won't be different in Kingdom Hearts III

You can't say that for sure. Just because Spikeball is the main focus doesn't mean we can't shift the focus to other characters for at least five minutes. The story's not gonna suck if we get to spend some time with Riku, Roxas or Lea for a bit. Especially since they're way more interesting that Spikeball anyway.

Dude.. 5 minutes is what I call occasionally, I told you thousand time that it's fine like that xD

Isn't KH considered a role playing game? Do no worries on that part we get to play as probably Kairi, Riku and Sora at some point,

I didn't literally mean that we would play as them for five minutes. We should obviously play as them longer than that.

Also, my memory sucks, so I don't remember you telling me that a thousand times. Sorry. :/

So your solution to stopping Kairi from "looking like a ditz" is to keep her on the bench. Seems counter intuitive. Besides, hero's stories are the best when the training happens on the go. If Luke had hung around on Tatooine for months on end for Obi Wan to teach him how to use the Light  Sabre, the Empire would have blown up Yavin IV in no time. Better to train on the go and keep the plot moving.

Giving her some time to train her blade is not sitting on the bench. She's learning how to actually use the damn thing. She doesn't know how to fight at all. You're acting like we only have like ten days to stop the True Organization XIII when in actuality, we can have as much time as we want. Nomura never explicitly said when Xehanort and his butt buddies were going to start wreaking havoc. We can at least play as her for a tutorial as the start of her training and maybe cut back to the end of her where she's learned how to actually fight and so we won't have to waste time saving her constantly on the battlefield because she's still green as f*ck and still needs to work on being capable of holding her own. I'm sick of the damsel-in-distress routine; we got enough of that in the other games.

I'm still hoping that they do what they did with BBS I hope they do something like that!
