I'm quite concerned about the plot of KHIII

Posted

With KH1,CoM,KH2, and BBS we got whole new casts of characters which made for exciting and interesting plots. In DDD however, nothing really points towards new characters in the franchise. There wasn't a new character in DDD, and all of the organization came back(besides a few),all of the darkness's so far are characters we already knew about, and all of the guardians of light are going to be reoccuring characters. Does this bother you? Because it sure as hell bothers me. There are no new personalities to flesh out, and nothing to really excite me like the secret endings of KH1 and 2, along with the Roxas appearance in the original CoM. The story has kind of been laid out for us too. 7 lights 13 darknesses and guardians of light. Most of the plot seems pretty predictable.

End of the trilogy, might as well keep the same cast.

That's no fun. Nothing to intrigue me at all about this game's story. KH2 had tons of new characters and it's the best game in the series.

"Sora, Donald and Goofy will attempt to search for seven guardians of light and the "Key to Return Hearts", while King Mickey and Riku search for previous Keyblade wielders."

Based off the brief description we were given about Kingdom Hearts III, I honestly am expecting to see at least one new character if not more. I'm probably reading too much into it, but I feel some of the "previous Keyblade Wielders" are people we have yet to meet, as Xehanort eluded to the fact there were other Keyblade apprentices and Masters outside of his circle from his reports in Birth by Sleep

Hopefully. DDD had no new characters and it has the worst story of any game by far.

I don't really have any problem with it.

You will when the plot ends up as bad as DDD's was.

Kingdom Hearts 3D did have a new character though. Young Xehanort. And Kingdom Hearts 3 should have new characters too since not all of the real Org. XIII members have been revealed. Some of them are bound to be characters we haven't met yet!

He appeared twice in BBS.

And seeing the patterns of time travel and all that dumb bullshit, they will likely all be returning characters.

Well if we do no get a localization of KHX; then, we will get to know the Keepers

If and only if they will be relevant to KHIII plot.

No way! It was way more than that! A lot of the was focused on YX!

Don't worry, you're not alone. I realized that around when 3DDD was announced. I realized how the cast of characters we have aren't even that really big, and the fact that most of them are antagonist which bothered me. Than there's the fact that there's like 4 or 5 female characters that.

Far as I know there are meant to be new members as Darknesses (so new characters) and the GoL are meant to surprise us.  Honestly though I feel like it'll be such an attempt to be "surprising" we'll get shit like Minnie Mouse as a Darkness and Victor Von Doom as a light.

What? In BBS he was in the opening and he was a secret boss.

That's your opinion, Kingdom Hearts 3D is not objectively bad

The game itself was good

but the plot was atrocious

I agree the plot was very complex, but I enjoyed it and I don't think it's bad

retconning everything in a plot with time travel is widely seen as one of the worst things that can happen to a story in the comic book fanbase.

it's no different here.

i think its cool to see everyone meet eachother though

also what new cast did we get in kingdom hearts 2????

hayner pence olette???

If Nomura did what he did with the plot, means that it was necessary for what he had in mind for Kingdom Hearts III, don't you think? And retconning is a scenario writing element so there's nothing wrong in using it where it fits (yes I think it fits)

The plot was a mess. period.

Every character comes back and you think that's ok? Yeah, no....

Using time travel as an excuse for all of the bullshit...yeah,no

Retcons aren't bad when it's one at a time, but when people like Nomura do it to every plot element then it becomes bad.

I repeat that that's your opinion, period. I don't see all this people complaining about it, of course there's a significant number, but there's always been a group of people that didn't liked something of a Kingdom Hearts installment. The plot is not objectively bad, it's rather complex. And god, can we wait for Kingdom Hearts III before drawing conclusions?

I'm not drawing conclusions, I'm making predictions based off of the crappy DDD story. It's not because it's complex, it's because it was just rushed.

I don't want new characters or new concepts.  I want the game to wrap up what it's already established.

358/2 days scenario was also written in little time, but it's fine to me. Also, you can't really make "predictions" like that because you should base Kingdom Hearts 3D on Kingdom Hearts III, not the contrary. Or at least this is how it would make sense

358/2 wasn't trying to advance the plot too much, so it made for good dialouge and pacing.
