So Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix is the only Kingdom Hearts game I have beaten on level 1 in critical mode. If you've played Kingdom Hearts 2 many times like I have, I would definitely try doing this challenge.

1;) You automatically get 50 abilities on critical mode, so it isn't too hard.. Also, use the guard ability as much as possible.

2.) You'll want to use your magic a lot more than you have in the past, always use potions, never use cure.

3.) Defeat regular heartless even though you won't get experience, you still need munny for shops.

4.) Only break into drive forms when your HP is critically low and you are out of MP, changing into drive forms replenishes your health and MP.

5.) Memorize the boss's attack pattern. Try to see if you can beat the boss on your own. There are help video's online, but use those as a last resort.

6.) Optimize defense rather than offense.

7.) If and when you turn into Mickey, deplete the boss's health as much as you can before you change back into Sora.

8.) Make sure to use other party members besides Donald and Goofy, the other party members have pre-equipped abilities regardless of level.

Lastly, just have fun with it! It's a great challenge, and you can always turn off the "NO EXP" ability whenever you want. I beat the full game as a level one, then turned the ability off and leveled up to face the secret boss's.

No. I don't do things like that: I prefer to play the game for story.

I'd probably give it a go... and then fail tremendously.

In the words of the great and wise JackSepticEye: "Hmhm-NO!" or just simply: "NO!" xD

But to put it simply: NO WAY JOSE! xD

I might try it, after all ever since I beat Dark Souls I've wanting more challenges from video games, but this might be a bit much.

I'll only try that if it's a trophy

As long as it's more balanced than KHFM's Lvl 1 run, then i'll try it. Just not on my first playthrough.

I might give it a shot. : That game's so easy I'd probably NEED self-imposed rules to have a challenge.

I was planing to dothis on my second run through the game

Don't take this personally but if I played games for the challenge of them I probably wouldn't play Kingdom Hearts. Not that it's not challenging it's just not the most challenging.

Not until I can go through the entire game without dying on proud.

6.) Optimize defense rather than offense.

Assuming you're not doing a self-imposed "minimal stats" challenge, why would you do this? Defense is pretty much worthless by the endgame since everything will kill you anyway.

That's true, but remember even though you don't level up, you still get bonuses for beating the bosses. After you beat a boss, you get many strength and magic boosts, but your defense doesn't get any boost in this mode. Only through leveling up. Besides, the difference between dying after getting hit once or twice in this mode is crucial.

bro you havent played final mix yet

the org. XIII secret bosses and lingering will are the hardest bosses in the whole series

Most people in a level 1 game generally try to avoid getting hit entirely... certainly with the end-game and bonus bosses, they'll wipe you out in one hit anyway. And the event bonuses are typically abilites/HP and MP boosts. Never str/def/mag. Also, you have armour for defense if you really need it.

That's true, although I never said I beat the secret bosses as a level 1. In critical mode, your HP and MP doesn't get as high as it does in the other modes, so they changed some of the bonuses to be Strength boosts.

I know that, and no they did not. I've played through the whole thing, and at no point does an enemy ever give an automatic (required) strength boost.

I'm sorry. I guess I was mistaken. Since I don't understand Japanese, I just assumed they did. I must have been synthesizing the materials to make strength boosters.

You're in luck, Spider. Word on the street is KH2FM has the most balanced Lvl 1 runs in the series. The damage is scaled so that you can always do decent damage. Unlike BBS where battles last for like 20 minutes because you're damage output is doo-doo.
