Another countdown by me This time, it's my personal Top 10 Video Games (I've played) in history. I will write these games with a description and explanation on why I like/liked the game. There will be the generic countdown rules as well. Those being:
One game per franchise
I have to have played the game (Obviously)
This is my opinion, you are entitled to yours, as am I
Enough talking. Let's get down to the list, I will play my favorite themes from the games, so you can listen to them while reading each description.
NUMBER 10!
Halo Wars (XBOX 360)
Halo Wars kicks off this list at Number 10. Halo Wars is unlike any of the other Halo games in the series, it was developed by the now owner of Halo, 343 Industries and is not an FPS. It is a RTS top down game where you command units and build bases. Very unlike the Halo series but that is what I like about it so much. It was a very nice break of pace from the main Halo games, it was a simple game that didn't have as in depth a unit system as say Supreme Commander or Starcraft which is also a very liked feature of it for me as I tend to struggle with Supreme Commander ^_^'' It has a very nice learning curve and teaches you along the way but not in the sense that it's holding your hand throughout the entire game. It has an in-depth enough system that it allows you to keep playing and experiment with the characters you can play as in Skirmish, a game mode that allows you to battle AI controlled enemies with AI controlled allies on whatever difficulty you like, on a wide array of maps with each unique locations and functional, environmental hazards like Garrison-able sniper towers, Reactors and in one of the maps, even a Covenant Mega Turret. Halo Wars takes Number 10 on my list.
NUMBER 9!
Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning (PS2)
Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning was the first Spyro game in the Legend of Spyro trilogy being: A New Beginning, The Eternal Night and Dawn of the Dragon. Personally A New Beginning was my favorite, nostalgia was written all over that game, sure it had a few glitches but the 7 year old me just took that as a challenge. DAMN TUTORIALS SO HARD. The game had pretty nice visuals at the time for the PS2, some of which were not seen very often. The game includes different breaths and abilities in the game, including Fire, Ice, etc. I don't want to tell them all as that would be a spoiler Despite the game's deep learning curve and glitches, the graphics and gameplay are good enough for my younger 7 year old self, with Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning taking the Number 9 spot.
NUMBER 8!
Jak 3 (PS2)
Jak 3, like Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, is part of it's own trilogy, being the last game from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak 2 and Jak 3. Jak 3 has a very deep learning curve, which, unlike others, I like. It was paced a lot better than Jak 2, all be at the sacrifice of a few game hours in total. The game is around 10-15 hours long, depending on if you do the side quests or not. The game has somewhat good visuals but the game having not up to par visuals adds to the feeling of the game, it's set in a desert and these average visuals add to the feeling of the desert. With the game's deep learning curve, fast pace and somewhat lengthy game, Jak 3 takes the number 8 spot.
NUMBER 7!
Crash Twinsanity (PS2)
Crash Twinsanity is a very fun game. It's probably, in my opinion, the best canon Crash game there is. It is the fifth game in the Crash main games, set three years after the events of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex. The best part about this game, isn't the gameplay, the story, the music. No. It's the fact that Dr. Cortex and Crash have to team up to stop the "Evil Twins" And they do so in such comical ways. The comedy aspect in the game is as high as ever for a Crash game and that's why it takes the Number 7 spot on the list.
NUMBER 6!
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
Some of you may be surprised that Shadow of the Colossus doesn't even make it into my Top 5, I only got to play Shadow of the Colossus recently, around 2 years ago to see what all the fiasco was about. Shadow of the Colossus then slipped into my favorite games list. The game is hailed as the best game to ever come out for the PS2. It was very underrated and unknown until people brought it to light and I don't blame them. The music is great, the visuals are amazing however the gameplay can be pretty meh, the camera doesn't like to be good a lot of the time which can detract from the gameplay, but all in all, a great game, that's why Shadow of the Colossus takes the Number 6 spot on my list.
NUMBER 5!
Pokémon Black/White (Nintendo DS)
Pokemon Black/White is my personal favorite in the Pokemon series. Gen V is my favorite, just narrowly skimming past Gen IV. The game, as all Pokemon games, have the same plot Go get badges, stop bad guys, beat champion, never be mentioned in the game again. However Black/White does follow this route, it delves into the inner machinations of the story more, which actually sparked a lot of controversy, I do enjoy myself a bit of controversy here and there and Pokemon Black/White gave me a lot of that. Pokemon Black and White gets the Number 5 spot on my list.
NUMBER 4!
Sonic Colors (Nintendo Wii)
Sonic Colors... Oh Sonic Colors.. There isn't much you can say wrong with this game. This game is very underrated. It's probably the best Sonic game to come out of SEGA since Sonic Adventure 2. The game looks absolutely stunning for a Wii game, the music is up there with some of my favorite sound tracks of all time and the game is smooth as anything. I found near to no glitches what so ever. There isn't much else to say with this near flawless game, that's why Sonic Colors takes the Number 4 spot on the list.
Ratchet and Clank is a VERY VERY VERY loved game to me, I've not missed one game in the series yet, It is a very fun game and Ratchet and Clank 3.. Ratchet and Clank 3 takes all good things you'd want in a quirky Adventure, Third Person Shooter and cooks it to perfection. The game has pretty damn good visuals, the game takes a mild time to beat, around 14 hours if you do extras, but with me, I like to complete my favorite games to the brim which clocks around 33 hours. The game has very smooth gameplay and a very generous learning curve but at the end of the game, throws that all away when you face the final boss, which I like as a very strong oddball, it takes everything it taught you, throws it at you and forces you to use it to the fullest extent. Ratchet and Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal takes Number 3.
NUMBER 2!
Persona 4: Golden (PSVita)
Oh god.. This was one of the hardest decisions ever between choosing what Number 1 and Number 2 would be. I was tempted to make them joint Number 1. Persona 4 Golden. Wow. What a game, this is an example of how to do an RPG right. The game has no flaws. NONE at all. Story, Perfect, Gameplay, Flawless, Music, Outstanding. Even when grinding in this game, it feels fun and rewarding and as we all know, grinding is a pretty tedious and annoying thing to do, but even Persona 4 pulls that off right. The game clocks in at an amazing 100+ Hours and that's minus being a completionist and grinding. There is no other game that I would have here. Persona 4: Golden takes Number 2 on the list.
BEFORE WE GO ONTO NUMBER ONE! IT'S TIME TO RECAP THE LIST SO FAR.
NUMBER 10: Halo Wars
NUMBER 9: Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
NUMBER 8: Jak 3
NUMBER 7: Crash Twinsanity
NUMBER 6: Shadow of the Colossus
NUMBER 5: Pokemon Black/White
NUMBER 4: Sonic Colors
NUMBER 3: Ratchet and Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal
NUMBER 2: Persona 4 Golden
AND THE NUMBER 1 SPOT IS.......
NUMBER 1!
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix (PS2)
Wasn't it obvious? If Kingdom Hearts II wasn't in Number 2, it was pretty obvious it was going to be Number 1 on my list. As I said. Trying to choose between Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Persona 4: Golden was no easy task, they come up to par on every category, despite Persona 4: Golden being one of the most enjoying, satisfying games I have ever played, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix just pips that by a very narrow margin. Like with Persona 4: Golden. Gameplay, Near Flawless. Music, Outstanding. Graphics, Stunning. Ladies and Gentlemen. Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. Is my Number 1 favorite game of all time.
I hope you enjoyed the list. Please leave your opinions and your Top 10 games of all time in the list below. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
