Yeah okay thats true,

 

but ceasing peaceful protesting & using unnecessary force is unlawful.

 

People are not concerned for those rioting and looting the stores, theyre concerned for those haven't been even given their lawful right to protest and instead are being abused by the police.

The amount of racism and corruption going on makes me so sick and angry. I don't know how any person can try and defend the cops at this point.

 

There have been a lot of gatherings across the country in response to this and I think that's great. I think Time Square was or is still shut down or something because of all the people protesting there.

that's not to far from were I am. and I know its super close to danex. all we can do is hope he is ok.

This is the first time I heard about it but it's lot right if the protesters are polite there shouldn't be any problems it's not right that the police is using such deadly force to break up the protesters. This right here is what is making America a unsafe place to live.

Yeah no problem!! I haven't seen anyone post anything related to whats actually happening so I thought I'd take the time to inform more people & to enlarge the number of websites that have at least addressed the situation.

It's crazy how much the police are trying to cover up. Not only did they change their story multiple times, but now it's been confirmed that Darren Wilson (the cop who shot Mike Brown) didn't stop him because of a suspected robbery, but because he was walking in the road. The robbery thing was bad enough since the police originally said he stole a candy bar, but this is even worse. I don't know how on earth they're even going to try to defend shooting an unarmed kid for walking in the road.

 

Almost even worse than that is the 911 operators. Someone posted saying they'd called 911 and been told to firetruck off (without the censor, of course), and soon tons more people were posting that 911 operators wouldn't send help to anyone. 

 

The one good thing though is that it's truly showing how amazing people can be in tough times. Looters have been trying to take advantage of the unrest, but while the cops sat by and refused to stop the looters, the protesters peacefully stood outside of businesses to protect them from looters and yelled for looters to stop because what they were doing would only make the protesters look bad and make it harder to get justice. And that now iconic picture of a man in an American flag t-shirt throwing a tear gas canister is truly amazing with the new info we've got about it. Those things can literally sear the skin off of your hand depending on how you grab them, but he did it anyway to get it away from a group of children behind him. Over $10,000 (last I checked) has been raised for Mike Brown's family's future legal costs, and thousands of cans of food are being sent to help the 28% of Ferguson's population that is living at or below the poverty line.

 

What's happening is awful and I can't even believe this is happening in America in 2014, but it's also bringing out the good in people. It appears that the evil have power, but the good and brave significantly outnumber them.

Journalists are being arrested for doing their job. It is terrible.

I think you're talking about Bryan Willman. The group Anonymous released his name claiming he was the cop who killed Mike. Bryan changed his name to Scooby on FB. I couldn't find Darren's facebook account though, there was one profile that looked like it could be his but I can't be certain.

Okay so have any of you heard about a few nights ago when the cops were screaming at people to get in their houses and if they didn't comply they teargassed them and shot rubber bullets at them? Well I assumed that it was because a curfew was imposed, and if there's a curfew, they're legally allowed to do that (even if morally they shouldn't). But as it turns out now, there was no curfew until last night. Which means you can add one more thing to the list of bad, illegal crap these cops are doing. For them to force nonviolent protesters out of the streets under no curfew is completely, 100% illegal. So now we know it wasn't just one bad apple (Darren Wilson), now the entire Ferguson police force has broken the law. 

 

But what truly scares me about this entire situation - okay, the police have riot gear. Makes sense. They have guns. Makes sense. But they also have armored vehicles. Why does a suburbian town need a police force armed with armored vehicles? They clearly don't. And yet plenty of towns have them. It's scary to think that if one day the people decide we want to overthrow this government, they've already equipped themselves with armored vehicles to stop us. Because killing their own citizens is the only reason they would have armored vehicles.

The police, and many other police in the country, have all that military gear due to a Federal funding. After 9/11, people feared that terrorist would spawn all over the country. The federal government made a 1 billion dollar (or more) package that gave local police this gear in case of a terrorist attack where the military cannot reach the population in time. The police would be able to hold back the terrorist until the military came. They have to use this in a year or else it is taken away. 

 

This still is not right. It is made for terrorism not its own citizens.

Honestly though Im just really curious with how this is going to be handled afterwards? 

Like are they going to reconstruct their entire police department because I think that would be the first step in making ammends.

Hmmm.... We have our problems, but if you really knew American History you would know that this country was NOT founded on freedom. It was about money and power. That is the bullshit they give to you in grade school depending on your teacher. It is mandatory for APUSH teachers to give the whole side.

America is a paradox.

The countless imposed Acts, Slavery, the Native Americans, the wealth American land was giving the owners did not want to give up...

The Emancipation Proclamation was a war strategy for the North the win.

Dawes Act stripped the land away from Native American signed by a man who was only 1/8th Native American.
