NARUTO SHIPPUDEN EPISODE 312: THE OLD MASTER AND THE DRAGON'S EYE - REVIEW

From the prequel to Road To Ninja to back in the War Arc, we now visit a character that sort of got a lot of attention in last week's episode. I of course am referring to Rock Lee. This episode is about Lee and Gai meeting a former shinobi (in Edo Tensei form) named Master Chen, a character who can be best seen as an omage to Master Roshi, a character from DragonBall. Now, Chen is reincarnated, starts beating up some fodder ninja, which alerts Lee and Gai to the scene. Apparantly, Lee knows the guy, seeing as he met him... in Part 1. (Ugh, again with this) Lee claims that Chen is a master of the Leaf Dragon God, a very powerful taijutsu technique, and that he met him supposedly when he was deemed KIA in the Third Shinobi World War. He was palling around with Naruto and TenTen one day, read a scroll about the technique, which had a hole in in, and decided to visit Chen's grave to see if he could still be able to find out about it. It turns out Chen faked his death and has been living as a hermit in the woods, hiding out from the Leaf Village. Lee still tries to get him to show him the Dragon God; Chen doesn't want to, so Lee goes HAM to get him to say otherwise. Watch the episode for the rest.

Overall, I like this episode. Alot of Naruto fans like to gripe that some of the Konoha Eleven group don't get to have a lot of screen time and development; I only believe that some of them fit this category, and characters like Lee, Hinata, Shikamaru, Neji, and Choji have done just fine with themselves. Still, it's nice to see such a personal story revolve around a supporting character, especially one of my favorite characters in this series, Mr. Rock Lee. I also liked the backstory with Master Chen; his character seems interesting at first glance, and so does his Konoha Dragon God. The animation was pretty good, too. I especially enjoyed the visuals we got when we switched over to Part 1 time, moments that involve some Return Of The Dragon / Karate Kid type stuff between Lee and Chen :) Overall, this episode has a Karate Kid / Early DragonBall with Goku and Roshi feel, which I think drives the episode the best. Also, the fact that we get to see more TenTen, and of all things, TenTen hanging with Naruto and Lee, is also fresh. The theme of this episode has to do with Lee's decision to be a ninja w/o ninjutsu and genjutsu as well as his endurance and will to never give up, two themes that are always enticing to watch. I recommend anyone who loves Lee or old style martial arts movies to watch this filler.

Next week (or should I say tomorrow's episode) is a weird one looking in. We have yet another Edo Tensei filler character coming into the war, a young boy. This kid, it looks like, knows some of the Konoha Eleven, but they don't know him. He's a freaky looking kid, that could pass off as, like, the chibi version of Kazuku. lol He also has the ability, it seems, to make snow appear and fall at will. The kid interacts with Kiba, Sakura, Team Asuma, and some of the First Division; at the end of the preview, Shikamaru claims that he knows who the kid is, so I'm taking that as a revelation of some sorts compared to how everybody was giving the ":/" face at first. A lot of people might think this episode will be boring, but I'm still gonna check it out.

I wonder: will they ever find Yamato again? xD

I understand that they are not thinking about him just now (IIRC, they don't know about his kidnapping, right?).

Minato!!! *_* I was just OH MY FREAKING GOD when he appeared! I like Orochimaru even more after this ULTIMATE Edo Tensei.

Orochimaru should give Minato and Naruto a little time together after the war, wouldn't that be great? He could teach Naruto something besides Rasengan ¬¬

Time-space warp jutsu is AWESOME

NARUTO SHIPPUDEN EPISODE 313: RAIN FOLLOWED BY SNOW, WITH SOME LIGHTENING - REVIEW

The month's almost up, Naruto fans, which means the month of filler will more than likely be up, as well. Until then we have two more episodes to wrap the schedule. According to the next episode's preview, it looks like this is going to be another mini arc, as well, with the events of 313 following into 314. Now, let's take a look at this week's story:

Yet another person is reincarnated through Edo Tensei, the Reanimation Jutsu. This paticular person appears in the area the First Division is staying in, and encounters the InoShikaCho group, Team Asuma. After a weird rainstorm that pops out of nowhere, Shikamaru spots a shinobi hanging around some White Zetsu. After fighting through both the Zetsu and the rain, Choji and Ino regroup with him as they encounter the mysterious figure. This figure also seems to appear near the Medic Camp, with Sakura, and near the area where Kiba is. This figure is revealed to be a boy named Yota, who apparantly knows the InoShikaCho team from their youth. Before you ask, NO, this is not another Part 1 flashback. (thank God) This is actually a flashback to BEFORE Part 1. :D Don't see that too often. The story with Yota is that he can manipulate the weather with his emotions: when he's sad, it rains, and Kabuto is able to make Yota use the rain as a weapon, shooting water torrents at the Shinobi Alliance and in huge waves at that. It is revealed with his interactions with Sakura and Kiba (how he is doing this three places in one thing, btw, I have no idea, maybe it's just Shadow Clones, or something else) that when he is happy, it snows, and when he is angry, purple lightning strikes down. The episode ends with a lot of confusion; the Leaf nin confused on what happened to Yota, and Naruto (as he continues to run) confused at all the weird weather patterns that are showing up around the battlefield. The preview for 314 shows more flashbacks and more interaction with Yota; it seems that Naruto has a connection with this filler character too. Btw, how the hell does Kiba know this kid? It's not touched upon in this episode. Maybe next week.

All in all, this is a very interesting episode; this Yota character seems like he might have a checkered past, which is barely explained upon in the story; the only things we know is that he's a orphan, he belongs to no certain village, and he can control the weather with his emotions. This makes me even more curious to Yota's backstory. Also, the animation has been really good these past few fillers, and it continues on into this episode, especially when the flashbacks into pre-Part 1 start. It's, of course, always a treat to listen to the OST from the first Naruto series, as well. All in all, if you are intrigued by Yota's mysteriousness and the story he presents with the InoShikaCho (bout time we see them in their kiddie forms) and to a lesser extent Sakura and Kiba, then you'll like this episode.

Like I said earlier, Episode 314 is going to be a continuation of this story; we see more flashbacks that feature not only Team Asuma and Sakura, but the inclusion of Naruto as well. We also see more Yota VS InoShikaCho, as well as Interaction with Sakura. Kiba doesn't seem to have any role at all, even though supposedly he knows  Yota as well... huh... anyways, Naruto in present time is going to meet up with Yota, too, in what I assume will be the final confrontation of the arc. I'm very enticed by this plot, but even more enticed by the fact that we will hopefully get back on to canon material by June. :)

Madara got rejected! xD

That was funny, still laughing here!

SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 631:

Can't believe Sasuke thinks he can be Hokage after all he did. I laughed a little harder than I should have when he said that... I laughed even more when I saw everyone else's faces. xD

Yamato is still in the Juubi's ass, just like Kabuto is stuck in a genjutsu.

NARUTO SHIPPUDEN EPISODE 314: THE SAD SUN SHOWER - REVIEW

Um, just to clarify, guys, what I said in the last review was false; You see, I thought this would be the last episode of not only this Yota arc, but also of the month. But, being the baka I am, I forgot that we still have one week left in this month. :/ So this isn't the episode that wraps up the month of filler, next episode will. Anyways, onto the review:

We start the show back in the Pre-Part 1 era, where Sakura and Yota first meet and start to form their friendship. Yota's glee at seeing Sakura's forehead allows Yota's weather powers to make snow fall down from the sky. Sakura, the InoShikaCho group, and Yota all then play in the snow. We clearly see how deep rooted Yota's relationship is with these four kids. Eventually, the topic of Naruto comes into play after he and Yota have an encounter one day, as Yota enters the Leaf Village for the first time and is seen by our blonde haired protagonist. Both he and Yota eventually become friends as well, and following that, and this was bothering me last time, Yota meets Kiba and Akamaru, and they become friends as well. Notice paticulary the relationship with Naruto and Yota: Yota is pretty much the first friend that Naruto ever has. Yes, I know that sounds far fetched, but given the canon and given the time that this filler is set in, yes, Yota is Naruto's first real friend. Notice how the other Leaf kids only hang out with Naruto because of Yota, too. Also notice that in one instance, when Yota gets mad at Naruto, he emits a dark aura and makes a snake come out his mouth, which prompts Naruto to swat away. This could likely prove my theory that Yota is one of the earliest experiments of Orochimaru, and the fact that he has emotion-weather powers is Oro's doing. So, after sometime in the flashback, we jump back to the present time to see Yota fight the InoShikaCho once more, as well as Sakura and Naruto (Naruto, while running in the forest, encounters Yota). We see him use more of the same water torrents, and then shocase  two new powers: one is using his snow element to freeze Sakura's feet in the snow, and then the other is creating mini-wind tornadoes by whistling and hurling them at Naruto. Back to the flashback: ANBU quickly discover Yota and capture him, looking to interrogate him on why he chose to come the village unauthorized. The episode ends with Naruto (present) lamenting that that instance was the last time he and the others saw Yota, and how they let him die.

Wow, I actually spoiled the entire episode. 0.o... Ah, well, that's how SuperKamiGuru9000 does it, so I guess I can let this slide. Sorry. :(

The final verdict on this episode is that its strong point is deepening Yota's character and his relationship with the Konoha kids, also pointing fingers at Yota's past and his true ambitions. Overall, this was a good episode that really sets up the climax that I'm sure the last episode of the arc, as well as the last episode of this month, will bring. And just like last time, the OST from the first Naruto series and the animation overall was perfect. I liked how the OST transitioned from the flashback to present time in one aspect; that was nice to hear. :) Overall, if you have any invest in this Yota arc, you'll like the episode. Also, if you enjoy seeing Naruto and some of the Konoha Eleven show some actual friendly interaction with each other, you'll enjoy this episode too. Next week is the final climax where the interrogation of Yota is shown, and probably the 411 on why he showed up in the story in the first place, and of course, also shows the efforts of Naruto and his friends to defeat all the Edo Tensei Yotas. Last episode of the month, which means the end of another filler month. And judging by the episode titles of the June episodes, it looks like we'll be getting back to canon. :)

The June 2013 schedule for Naruto Shippuden is here and it brings us four episodes of our favorite orange-clad knucklehead ninja. For the fourth month in a row, we will be watching fillers by Naruto Shippuden’s animation house, Studio Pierrot. Take a look at the June 2013 Schedule below.

  • June 06, 2013
Naruto Shippuden Episode 316 – Reincarnated Allied Forces!
  • June 13, 2013
Naruto Shippuden Episode 317 – Shino vs Torune!
  • June 20, 2013
Naruto Shippuden Episode 318 – A Hole in the Heart – The Other Jinchuriki

NARUTO SHIPPUDEN JUNE 2013 SCHEDULE - ANALYSIS

And here I thought that June would be the return to canon. Guess not. Anyways, let's take a look at what we have in store for us in the first month of summer. We only have the titles of the episodes to work off, so this predictions could either be way off or very close. Here we go:

Episode 316: Reincarnated Allied Forces

Well, that's a twist. It seems like instead of bad guys being put through Edo Tensei, we might see old friends instead. The Allies fighting with Edo Tensei against Zetsu? Or maybe it's like some kind of Edo Tensei rebellion?

Episode 317: Shino VS Torune

Oh-ho, Sally, I've been wating for this... Ever since Fu and Torune showed up, I have been DYING for them to interact with Ino or Shino. Now it looks like an Edo Tensei  Torune is going to lock horns with Shino. I'm seriously, this is going to be interesting to see. #AburameClanDuel

Episode 318: A Hole In The Heart - The Other Jinchuriki

Hmm, a Jinchuriki story. Haven't seen something like since the filler arcs with Yugito, Yagura, and Ukatata. Maybe we'll see some backstory for another jinchuriki, like Han or Fu or Roshi? Or maybe it's a story about a certain team or group of Jinchuriki, given the name.

Episode 319: The Soul That Dwells Within A Puppet

My biggest guess is that this has something to do with Fu. I don't know, there's already a Shino VS Torune fight here, so maybe we'll see Ino VS Fu? That's my guess, at least. I'd really like to see that. #YamanakaClanDuel

And that wraps up June's episodes. This'll be the forth month in a row that we've gotten nothing but filler. Hopefully, though, the quality and good storytelling we've gotten since then will play out just as much with this new batch of episodes.

Sakura... The heck was that? Did she actually... DO SOMETHING USEFUL!? Also, she said something about not needing to look younger anymore... She looks exactly the fricking same, aside from the whole forehead diamond thing.

I am so confused to where Naruto is heading. Someone told me Sauske wants to become hokage or something. Whaa? I kinda wanna catch up now but i havent really read it since chapter 515 o-o

Well... It's tough to explain without spoiling anything. If you're interested, go ahead and catch up if you want to. That's all I'll say.
