For a Second I Thought it Was 2014

Posted

For my Media Studies essay I've been studying sexism in video games

and man

it's depressing

no, not because of the sexism, my results so far with that have actually be pretty positive, the most successful games of all time rarely even come close to gender to relevant to the game, never mind the depiction of women (with the huge notable exception being Grand Theft Auto, believe you mean I'm making a note of that on the paper).

But all around

in all the sources I can find

top comments on articles, and the like

it's full of

gamers are all gross fat misogynistic nerds who lay in their mom's basement and will never touch a woman and have glasses lol!

and these are the top rated comments

the comments the follow are rarely better

you know, for a while I figured that we were actually living in the early 2000s

but I guess we're still living in the 90s after all, and bullying, name calling and generally shaming 'nerds' is actually a cool thing to do that people are just okay with

blegh

Early 2000s for some 1960s for others and man, people are awesome huh

There is a serious flaw in Gamer culture right now. Gotta work it out.

Japanese are really good on that part. "Commenting culture" should I call it?.

I don't see them name calling nor anything of the sorts. Ah, my beautiful people.
