Triggering the Block Command in the Xemnas Fight?

So I was fighting Xemnas and during that sequence where he throws Sora into the air and I saw something I've never seen before in any of the many times I've beaten KH2. He kicked Sora, causing him to drop his keyblade, then Riku grabbed it, threw it back and the block reaction command appeared.

What triggers this? I couldn't really figure it out. At first I thought it had something to do with getting hit a lot, but when I just let Xemnas hit me during that sequence Sora just died. Then I triggered it after successfully reflecting most of his attacks. But a lot of the time it doesn't trigger at all.

Does anybody know why it happens sometimes?

I think it depends the amount of damage you do to him during the first sequence of RCs when he throws Sora in the air.

^ Yeah, I think so. I've been using reflect in between the Reversal RCs so it tends to happen.

 

What the worst part is is that Reversal doesn't show up sometimes. Died so many times during my crit play through due to that.

Yeah, I'm so mad that reversal doesn't show up!!! Dark shield shows up instead!!! Also playing in critical, so it is very easy to die..

I've died more than ten times already. I guess I'll have to add go back and add potions and ethers -- I only had one ether equipped

It's absolutely ridiculous that the Reversal command doesn't always come up, leaving me to die numerous times. I doubt it's gonna happen, but it'd be nice if Squeenix decided to release a patch to fix that and the absurd loading time for drive forms.

If you hit a certain HP barrier with Reflect he wont do it, so if he is under that barrier he will do it. I think that is how it works.

I can't find anything to source it, but I feel like it either triggers randomly, or after Reversal is used in succession (without damage) a certain number of times. I'm not aware if it was in the original or if it's an addition to Final Mix.

I'd say it's the height you reach to trigger it, but most of the time, Xemnas just stops once you reach a certain point in the air.

I'd say it's the height you reach to trigger it, but most of the time, Xemnas just stops once you reach a certain point in the air.

I can confirm it's not a height thing, it triggered once for me when I was nearly touching the ground (in case it's not clear, I've been researching this a lot today )

also as far as I can tell it's impossible to use Reversal alone and avoid taking damage

Hence the reason I said it's not possible for the height to be it.

I've done it before, but it takes a lot of Triangle mashing.

That's one of the greatest issues for speedrunners in 2.5

 

The Reversal RC doesn't show up sometimes for some reason, giving players a really hard time against Xemnas on Critical, especially on his Data Battle
