Roger Rabbit and Oswald The Lucky Rabbit in KH3?

Posted

Do you guys think that, if these two characters ever appeared in KH3 (or in any other future game), as well as their homeworlds, the plot might/could get (even) more confusing (because Roger's homeworld is not only Disney-based franchise, right? And, since many people consider Oswald as Mickey's older "half-brother", because he was created first, shouldn't he be the rightful king of Disney Castle? You get what I mean?)?

Feel free to leave your opinions/thoughts/comments here

Roger Rabbit, not ever.

...because of the other companies involved, right?

I don't think Roger Rabbit is Disney. Isn't he Looney Toons? I do know that the movie features Mickey in it. I dunno, I don't really remember.

Funny you should mention Oswald! I was just about to make a thread about him, and I was literally just watching an Epic Mickey 2 Let's Play. He totally deserves to be in KH3 and I would love it if he was featured in the game, in the form of him in a Wasteland world or otherwise.

Instead of the rightful King of Disney Castle, I'd say with his personality and backstory he would fit more as a sort of adventurer in a way, and perhaps being the guard to the tomb which conceals the Phantom Blot (that's if he and the jug from Mickeyjunk Mountain appears in KH3) maybe he could be a sort of traveler between the worlds, hunting the Phantom Blot to destroy it and save his honey bunch Ortensia. He could be Mickey's rival and I would love it so much if he had a big role in the game. Perhaps maybe even being one of the guardians of light, although it wouldn't make much sense since it would come out of nowhere. If anything, at least a hidden boss. We had Julius after all, so come on.

That and that he himself isn't even a Disney property. He's a... Touchstone/Buena Vista/Gary K. Wolf property, I guess.

No, he's "Touchstone/Buena Vista/Gary K. Wolf" as I said. The original novel was written by Gary K. Wolf and Touchstone/Buena Vista are responsible for the movie.

He's more of a Disney character...

Sorry for doing this before you, my friend, forgive me, I didn't know you wanted to make a thread about this...and your idea is quite splendid/fantastic...way to go...

Both these companies were already owned by Disney (and still are) before the movie came out...so isn't he a Disney character himself as a result?

Oswald already has the Epic Mickey series: don't expect it.

And Roger's world is more adult: it wouldn't fit the KH series. Plus, it'd look odd, unless you ONLY did ToonTown, and not the real world.

Not really. Considering that beyond the movie, Roger's likeness isn't really used by Disney and I assume the original novelist owns all the rights to his usage just like the Edgar Rice Burroughs Estate own the rights to Tarzan.

...they used him in a TV show where he appeared together on-screen with Mickey, didn't he?

according to a google search, Steven Spielberg, in addition to Disney

Yeah, but Roger Rabbit is different from the maturity that KH has. Roger Rabbit is more actual adult maturity, including crude adult humor. In the movie, I the mafia and what not was featured. Either way, it really wouldn't fit in my opinion. Like Firaga said, Roger Rabbit isn't really Disney.

No. It was a 1988 special. He was also used in cartoon shorts starring him in various other cartoon films by Touchstone/Disney. Other than that, he's mostly just a throwaway attraction at Disneyland, with the big fluffy costumes and whatnot.

So even by all that, he's not really a huge property or anything big enough to be put into a Kingdom Hearts game.

Nope. Unless, I don't know, the plans of a sequel to the original movie magically spring to life and Roger gets super popular.

Exactly. So even that possibility is pretty much dead in the water until further notice.

But wasn't the movie itself based on a novel/book, as someone else here has stated?

As odd as it sounds, I can totally visualize Oswald being the Nobody of Mickey....

Unless they're composed of Pure Light, ANYONE'S heart is vulnerable to the Darkness. Just look at Sora. Three seconds too slow on Lea's part, and he would have been Nort food.

, thanks, but would the game be better or worse if these 2 characters and their homeworlds were in it in your opinion?

Exactly. So even that possibility is pretty much dead in the water until further notice.

I agree. Plus, even if they did put Roger Rabbit into KH3, who the hell is going to even know who he is? Sure, the older audiences over 18 maybe since the movie is a classic to the older audience, but a ten year old boy? Nope. Same thing could go for Oswald too, just in general since most aren't really familiar with him, but Atleast Oswald had a comeback with Epic Mickey and Disneyland attractions and whatnot, plus his relationship with Mickey is really important too so it makes so much more sense. In a random note, if Oswald does appear in KH3 I hope his 420 Bunny Children appear too and Sora ends up having to babysit them or round them up or something. (On a side note I love how Oswald is a rabbit and has a cat girl friend and together they have an offspring of 420 children all named Oswald Junior plus a number. Oswald's sure been busywatch that cause KH3 to get a T rating

Well to answer that question well, you would have to take into consideration the tone of the two characters, and the worlds from which they are derived. Roger Rabbit's World (Toon Town, I think it was? ) Is a very, very, very, veeeeeeery, non-sensical, and out-of-proportion world. Which is totally fine, considering the type of cartoon he's supposed to be. A whimsical, exaggerated, caricature of an animal designed for the sole purpose of making people laugh. I would say like a Looney Toon character, but with his outrageous getup, and over-sized eyeballs, I'd say that he's even a step beyond that. Again, this doesn't make him a bad character, just a character with a very limited range when it comes to serious franchise clashes. And although Kingdom Hearts has it's humorous moments, I think adding such a character and his World would just be taking the series a little to far into the silly zone.

Now Oswald on the other hand, would stand a better chance for two reasons: 1. His personality rocks 2. His World really rocks. Allow me to elaborate:

When we meet Oswald in Epic Mickey, he is a hard worker with a good heart- but he is C.Y.N.I.C.A.L. And although we eventually see what happens between him and Mickey (won't spoil the game for anyone) we see a rabbit who quite literally has to be challenged, due to his own deep-seeded jealousy of Mickey. Which seems to work very well in the KH franchise. He'd make the perfect rival to Mickey- kind of like how Shadow is to Sonic, ya know? And the World he comes from is just....great. Such a  Dark and twisted Disney World.....the Tommorowland space would be kinda fun, I think.
