I cant believe it has taken me 4 years to post this here, but ahwell.

Back in 2011, I was in a program for High School students who think they want to become teachers. We had to at one point go and assist teachers from an elementary school with their classes, and also observe it and stuff. One day I was doing this, I was out in the halls running an errand or something when I found myself walking past a first grade class room. Next to the door, on the wall, were stickers with the names of the kids in the class and their teacher.

As I walked by, a name caught may eye. At first I thought I had misread it, so I stopped and went back to read it again. And there on a butterfly sticker was the name, 'KAIRI'. I thought it was kinda cool that there was a kid named after a KH character in the class, but my mind was blown when I noticed close by to it was another butterfly that read, 'SORA'. I could not believe it.

I looked at all the other names thinking it would be too perfect if there was another with the name RIKU on it. But it seemed to be too perfect to be because there wasn't. But I still found it such an awesome coincidence. I wonder if they were friends in the class, or if they still know each other now. Eh, I think that would be too perfect to be.

Have you guys ever encountered someone named after a kh character?

I haven't encountered any myself, but I do know of a YouTuber who named his cats Roxas and Kairi...

I was once doing some volunteer hours at a VBS, when I saw a placemat with the name "Axl" on it.

CLOSE ENOUGH.

Not personally, but I've seen people who name their baby girls Kairi. And Axel is a name I've seen for boys.  Dilan is pretty common too....hmm....Hayner is somewhat common...

At my church they were showing some newborns and one was named Axel Cid.

Kairi can be a legit name, gotta be used by someone with no knowledge of KH at all.. Never encountered real life KH names. Love too one day though.

Not sure about Kairi, but Sora's not just a name in KH. I can think of plenty of other characters named Sora,.

Umm no but I named my yellow budgie Namine.

I was at my (sorority) sister's house preparing for a sleepover, and she and her mom were babysitting their paster's boys, one of which is named Axel.  Other than that, I haven't met anyone.

I thought about when I have kids when I grow up whether I should name them Roxas or Sora, but decided against it for a number of reasons. I might use them as Middle names though, Sora doesn't seem like a bad middle name....

On another note one of my close friends and Kingdom Hearts fan said that he was definitely going to name his future kid Riku.

I actually really like the name Axel for a kids name. Also, I don't know why but I also really like the name Roxas. I just like the way it sounds and I also really like the character. I don't know if I would name a kid that though, it is a rather strange name. Thing that bugs me though, when I hear people say you shouldn't name a kid after a book/movie/video game character, is the fact that there really isn't anything wrong with it. Its like naming someone after a relative you really like or respect, or a person in your life that was a big influence. Does it really matter so much that the person the name came from isn't real? If the character means that much to you, if they have impacted your life in a way you cant imagine being with out, what matters if they really exist or not? They made a difference in your life, and if you want to honor them by keeping their name alive in anothers life, I don't really see the problem.
