February 25, 201510 yr And the award for most confusing choice in remake goes too-! (seriously guys, this is a curisoity at best, best off skipping it, or wait for a sale f you're really curious) (That said the music is AMAZING) (Hope it gets remastered)
February 26, 201510 yr I think it's funny that so many people would want this, even though this game was made because Square apparently thought their Western audience was too dumb for a traditional JRPG. This game is the reason why we never got FFV outside Japan back when it was first released. This game was basically Square insulting the intelligence of the Western audiences. Wanna know why people want this for some reason?Because they don't even know that this piece of shit existed Mystic Quest was literally created because back then Square thought RPGs are too hard for us to understand....the game was bashed by fans and critics alike especially since we already had Final Fantasy IV on the SNES before this The only good thing that came out of this game is that it convinced Square to localize Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger Mystic Quest is literally the most basic RPG you can ever find

February 26, 201510 yr anybody else feel like an eerily similar thought process went into making FF13? XIII is pretty much Mystic Quest but stretched out to 40+ hours of boredom and bad writing Also both games feel like they're a long tutorial heck XIII doesn't even try to hide the fact that the first 20 hours is just a giant tutorial Edited February 26, 201510 yr by Smash Mega Koopa
February 26, 201510 yr Author anybody else feel like an eerily similar thought process went into making FF13? XIII's first nine chapters were intended to be an interactive movie.
February 26, 201510 yr XIII's first nine chapters were intended to be an interactive movie. And those first chapters last around 20 hours before you go to Gran Pulse That alone in it's entirety is borderline bad design at it's finest

XIII's first nine chapters were intended to be an interactive movie. No game should be marketed as an interactive movie. Kinda defeats the purpose.

February 26, 201510 yr Worked for Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Games are supposed to be about gameplay, though. I mean, I guess some QTE-filled games work, but an RPG? Those shouldn't be dumbed down to being interactive movies. The whole point of an RPG is that the player is heavily involved, gets to make their own decisions, raise their characters... They're about exploring a world, not walking through a corridor because it's supposed to be a movie.
