Actually they've replaced ex mode and burstThey're basically buffs, like protect, regenOr debuffs like slow on enemiesSome characters have exclusive ex skills though like Terra still goes into trance and Cloud goes into some kind of limit break mode

I only know of the ones I mentioned, hopefully we'll find out more from the location tests
