Forever 3,550 Posted April 22, 2015 Ever wonder what these characters pray to, exactly? Is there a God in their universe? Are they praying to Kingdom Hearts? Some other infinite being?
Joker 1,560 Posted April 22, 2015 Ever wonder what these characters pray to, exactly? Is there a God in their universe? Are they praying to Kingdom Hearts? Some other infinite being? I always thought of KH like a God in the series. Its alive and watching down from the Realm of Darkness. Or like those god like beings from Animorphs another thought i had was it was sort of like Philemon from Persona

I've never played Persona myself, but that name's interesting considering it's straight out of the Bible.
Joker 1,560 Posted April 22, 2015 Philemon eh? I've never played Persona myself, but that name's interesting considering it's straight out of the Bible. SMT/Persona pulls a lot from Religions. Like the final boss for Side Law in SMT4 is Lucifer 1 Forever reacted to this
Alicia Maddox 2,141 Posted April 23, 2015 Well, in Final Fantasy 7, the closest thing to a god or really, a life fore for that matter, is the Life Stream which flows through the earth and all life comes from and returns to.
Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted April 23, 2015 Well, they are shown as a couple in Kh 2 (forgive my ignorance: I haven't played FF 7, only seen the film), so it's possible, but I took "Him" to mean Leon for some reason. Leon seems very aloof in the novel, like he's hiding something, and Yuffie seems off too, like there's something she's not saying.
Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Ever wonder what these characters pray to, exactly? Is there a God in their universe? Are they praying to Kingdom Hearts? Some other infinite being? They don't necessarily have to pray to a specific entity, they could just be praying to fate, the universe, life, or just hoping really REALLY hard. I guess KH could be considered a god-like entity, seeing how it appears to be the source of all and THE power of the universe, but I'm not really sure if it would work the same way a deity does. It think it's more like if heaven or nirvana had a semi-consciousness of some sort. so less mentioned and more implied A reference is a reference. (Notre Dame) Maybe all these forces have a contract with one another? Heh.

Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted April 23, 2015 Yet in this same universe, churches exist, and folks believe in a God. (Notre Dame) Maybe all these forces have a contract with one another? Heh. Different worlds, and people can still have religion. Whether or not there is an actual God or gods in the KH universe as a whole is a whole nother question that probably doesn't have to be answered. Either each world has its own beliefs, or each world has its own nature and rules, like how the Greek gods can exist in Olympus Coliseum but not in The Land of Dragons or La Cite des Cloches, which may account for the different worlds having different religions, ideologies, and philosophies. So maybe God (like the Christian/Catholic God) exists solely within La Cite des Cloches or maybe He/She is everywhere in the KH universe and presents His/Her self in different ways like the Greek gods or dragons and whatnot. It's a confusing question to be sure, but it's such a background concern that it probably doesn't need any official answer. Things happen in each world and each world is literally in their own world, with their own beliefs and natures and deities/higher powers and what have you, so the happenings of each world is solely due to itself, while the universe at large is affected by Kingdom Hearts. It's kind of like how our world works, how each country seems to be a world of its own with the events of the country being isolated to it and due to what happens within the country (most of the time) while the planet as a whole is affected by cosmic forces from the universe itself (or the entire world as a collective whole doing something that effects it in a large scale, say pollution as an example). It's a strange philosophy, maybe even a wrong one, but it's an interesting one worth considering.
