Okay, today I'll be talking about why I think an FF7 remake is still very possible.

You remember what Square Enix did at PS Experience? Now it may have seemed like they were trolling us, but... What if this is just a "testing their waters" move? Maybe they just wanna see if there is still genuine interest in FF7. However, I don't think this port alone would be enough to convince them. I also think FFXV needs to do well. Remember when they said in order to remake FF7, they first need to make an FF that surpasses it in quality? Well, that's a tall order. Anyway, what if FFXV DOES surpass FF7 in the fan base's opinion? Does that mean we'll get an FF7 remake? Well, it seems possible. FFXV is likely to release in 2016, just one year after that will be FF7's 20th anniversary. So, if this port of FF7 sells well, and FFXV surpasses FF7, then an FF7 remake might happen? It would certainly be good way to celebrate the 20th anniversary, and SE would be swimming in cash. It might be wishful thinking, but I think SE might be saving the FF7 remake announcement for the game's 20th anniversary. What are your thoughts?

Well that doesn't mean it has to be made right now.

He's talking about making it straight after FFXV though.

I'm pretty sure that the FFVII remake will eventually happen, its like one of the most requested game ever,it would sell like crazy. It doesn't have to be this generation,it might be in 10 years or 20 years from now,but I don't see why it couldn't happen,I'm sure SQUARE ENIX has more then enough money to make a game like this. They were able to remake from scratch many of the FFVII locations in Crisis Core,Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus in 3D and getting voice actors shouldn't be a problem for them. The game is already in english,so there shouldn't that much writing to do.

Maybe I'm missing something, but to me it seems like a FFVII remake would be a lot easier to do then making a game like Final Fantasy XV or Kingdom Hearts III.

Have you guys seen G-Bike tho?

Looking at this game gives me a hope for a remake. I would even be fine with a remake with these graphics

That's a mobile game by a mobile developer. You might be, but if they served that up people would complain big time.

Oh well, it's XVI's turn after that. Assuming that's what Ito is woking on, which is probably still in its concept stages. I do wonder though, can they actually work on full production mode on two numbered titles at the same time? Also I wonder what a KH numbered title's dev costs are compared to a FF numbered title.

Not straight after XV. Just announcing it 1 year after FFXV. I don't care if it takes till 2020. I just want an announcement before then.

Yeah, that's what Ito would be working on.

Probably a 1/3.

2020? You think it takes two years to do a game of that scale? Lol. In that case, yes Toriyama would be free by them but it wouldn't take two years.

Not to mention they would probably need a new engine too.

Agreed. I do think G-Bike is as close as a remake we want. The graphics are really freakin pretty for a mobile game, but I guess we all want a PS4 remake with better graphics

If they announce it before 2020, I'll wait however long it takes. However, any longer than 2020 and PS4 will be late life.

Yep. PS5 at that point.

Well okay. They lost KH1's assets, but that didn't stop 1.5 HD.

There's a HUGE difference between KH1's assets and FF7's. KH1 is fully 3D, FF7 uses 3D models, but the backgrounds are almost entirely 2D images of 3D models, and those 3D assets don't exist anymore. That's why the backgrounds and such are still so pixelated in the "HD" remaster

Why does it have to be his team that makes it though?

So basically it will be just like another main title. They are pouring tons of money with each new numbered title. If one of them fails it will probably be like the pre-merge all over again.

Anyway, isn't XV close to being in that scale? With the whole open world, cars and airships and all? If not that then I'm sure XVI will atleast be.

FFXV is nowhere near the scale of FF7

There was an old FF7 trailer that pretended it was advertising a movie, talking about how it had "hundreds of actors" and stuff like that, pointing out that people said making that would be impossible, and ending with "They were... right"

FF7 is a relic from a time where you couldn't really have voice acting, where models were basic and easy to make, and where an entire map just meant making vague shapes.

FFXV has a big map, but it's just plain not possible to create a game like FF7 with those production values. Too many areas would need to be made, too many NPCs designed and voiced. There's a reason why they said they wouldn't consider remaking FF7 until remaking it to the quality of FF13 was financially viable
