I play chess, and that doesn't look like any chess I've ever seen, and I've seen a ton of variations. For starters, the board has raised and lowered squares in a seemingly unrelated pattern. There is a crown piece (0:18) which would signify a king, but that piece is in the thick of things and is very small compared to the others so it seems like a pawn. It also looks like gold has pieces that silver doesn't have, unless they were taken already by Young Xehanort. There is also a mickey piece on silver's side. But the rest are different and unique designs, perhaps new enemy sigils? Looks like one of them is the Keyblade Master symbol (0:15 Silver on the right). There are some strange designs that I can't make out. The pieces are also silver and gold instead of normal chess white and black. This isn't all that strange and is common in chess sets, but they seem solid metals and looks like an expensive set. This game might just be trivial, but could also be a minigame in KH3, which I would love.

I like to think that the chess part is actually foreshadowing the 13 SoD and the 7 GoL, even Young Xehanort has more pieces that Eraqus. Also, at the end we see the silver crown piece (like sora's necklace) and the gold "goat-like" thing Master Xehanort has in his keyblade.

(1:16) Looks like Aero magic makes a return in the form of BBS. What could this mean for the future of defensive magic?

Also, notice how the grass changes its shape once he cast the spell

I agree, Sora's running animation isn't great...they still have time to change it though. And am I the only one who thinks he looks younger...?

I can also make out Vanitas' gear symbol, and Saix's moon. The chess game probably is parallelism to the 13 SoD vs 7 GoL. I also saw some dice on Xehanort's side which could mean that Luxord is going to be a big player in KH3.

And Mickey's symbol also, as well as a star symbol that I like to think it's Master Yen Sid

Hey man

Thanks for it, nice work :-D

one of Xehanorts chess pieces looked like it had a set of dice as the symbol on top of it a reference to Luxord maybe

also something i noticed that i haven't noticed anyone else mention yet the part of the trailer when Sora's fighting a group of Soldiers, Shadows and a Large Body in twilight if you pause the trailer at 1:51 right after Sora jumps off the wall if you look to the left on the roof of the building next to you you'll see something at first i thought it was a soldier running around but after a bit it started to bug me so i went back and paused the trailer to see what the creature was it doesn't look like any of the other Heartless present and unlike the other Heartless instead of trying to attack Sora this one seems to be running away maybe some rare type of Heartless rare heartless or something else can say for sure really
