Now that the first anime episode of DragonBall Super has aired, I hearby open this official discussion thread. Here, we can talk about the anime, the manga, or any other related Super topics.

 

With that said, if none of you have read the first manga chapter, then feel free to take a look here.

 

Now then, for my thoughts on the first anime episode:

THE KING HAS RETUUUUUUUURNNEEEEEEEDAAAAH.... ahem.

 

So yeah, I enjoyed this episode a lot. It wasn't anything too special, but boy did it just push the potential of this entire anime way up. Seeing things like Goten and Trunks's shenanigans (which combined with their goal to get Videl a present was just too darn cute), all the little one off jokes like the old man talking about the hot springs and Master Roshi coming out of nowhere in the end, Trunks beating the crap out of a giant snake, Mr. Buu and Mr. Satan, Goku training/working, Beerus half-destroying the pig-alien planet, just everything that happened was just... satisfying. There's nothing more I can say other than if things continue to go in this fastion, I am going to enjoy the flip out of every episode that comes out of Super. Apparently this form is the equivalent of Super Saiyan Blue. It's basically supposed to be Black's God Form, If I'm not mistaken.

Also in the Fuji TV NEP, it shows Future Yajirobe. Despite him being killed in Z by Future 18. So either they forgot that or there'll be some inconsistent reason why they're adding him back.

That didn't happen in Z, just in the Future Trunks TV Special. And as TOEI has shown with Episode 52, they're taking liberties with how much the TV Special actually affects the main canon that Super is using.

 

Honestly, Future Yajirobe being alive makes more sense than him being killed. In both timelines, when a crisis like the Androids happens, he's one of the first guys to straight-up book it and get away from that mess entirely. He's probably been living underground all this time.

I realize this now after making that first post and then having this scene pointed out to me several times. Whoops.

 

But again: this is anime only.  And again again, maybe TOEI is going with the notion that he actually survived and went underground or something. We don't know for sure and we'll have to wait until next week for some kind of explanation.

DRAGON BALL SUPER EPISODE 56 (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD)

 

 

HOLY firetruckING JESUS NIPPLES WITH A SIDE OF SHIT.

 

THAT IS EASILY THE BEST EPISODE OF SUPER WE'VE EVER HAD.

 

• SUPER SAIYAN ROSE APPEARING PRETTY EARLY INTO THE EPISODE
• BASE BLACK BEING ON PAR WITH SSJB VEGETA
• SSJR BLACK firetruckING ANNIHILATING SSJB VEGETA
• SSJR BLACK ALMOST KILLING VEGETA
• SSJR BLACK ANNIHILATING SSJB GOKU

AND TO TOP THAT ALL OFF

 

• ZAMASU APPEARING BY BLACK'S SIDE AND ASKING HIM FOR THE KILL ON GOKU.

THAT'S RIGHT EVERYONE. BLACK AND ZAMASU ARE CONFIRMED TO BE ON THE SAME SIDE.

Oh yeah, episode 56 was really awesome.

 

 

Vegeta done got stabbed kind of brutally.  So much for Zamasu being Goku Black.  Still, seeing them being in league with each other is very interesting.  Now that one intro in Dragonball Heroes makes some sense to me. 

 

 

I was certain that Zamasu and Black were the same person... Crap, guess we'll have to wait longer to learn the truth about Black. Today's episode was great though Yajirobe lives on!, although it is keeping up a trend that's starting to bother me a little bit...

 

And that's, as Black put it, Vegeta just being an appetizer for all fights with Goku. It feels like his character's pretty much just there to have the crap kicked out of him so we can see how amazing Goku's next opponent is or so Goku can save the day. With Vegeta being my favorite character and all, it's kinda sad to see him get screwed over like this so often. I know that Goku's the main character, but holy crap, Vegeta went down fast this time around. Would have been nice to see him in more of an even fight than what he got. Aside from that though, I really liked this episode. Can't wait to see how the Black arc wraps things up, but until then, we've got a great fight to look forward to!

 No, I just screwed up and thought the name was still Super Saiyan Pink. SSJR is correct.

 

Vegeta doesn't need anymore spotlight, he's the second most strongest/important non-god character on the show. Plus, he's been one of the most consistently well developed and handled character of the show since it began. He smoothly transitioned from the prideful-dickhead-learning-to-be-nicer that he was by the end of the "Z" era from a wiser, more understanding person who puts things over his own pride (sans Golden Freeza obviously, but hey, everybody has an off day). If you want an example of Vegeta getting spotlight, look at his scene this week when he gave the resistance group the capsules. He didn't have to do it, he could have just gave them to Trunks, but he did it anyway, and he did it because he cared about Trunks's and the other people's situation. (Of course, he did it in his Vegeta way, because even a developed Vegeta is still going to be Vegeta about it... Vegeta.) It shows compassion and it shows that even as a fighter still looking to one-up Goku, he's proving that he can do more than just that. And for me, that means way more than any fight scene.

 

And look, I'm not saying that it's bad if he wins more fights, but again, it's all about context. Goku is stronger than Vegeta, he gets to have the more serious fight. Vegeta isn't stronger than Goku and allowed Black to get his power up. And maybe they'll team up with Trunks and kill Black and Zamasu together or something, I don't know. The point is that Vegeta isn't being devalued, it's just logic.

 

Oh maaan, the fight scene in episode 57 was amazing. I was getting hyped up while watching it. Great episode!

So Goku Black really is Zamasu.  But he switched bodies with Goku from another timeline by using the Super Dragon Balls.  I'm looking forward to how it's all explained.

 

 

So by the looks of things:

 

Zamasu kills Gowasu and takes the time ring and potara > Uses the SDB to switch bodies with Goku > Kills Goku in Zamasu's body > Goes to Trunks' future using the Time Ring > He recruits the Future Zamasu and gives him his own Potara > Future Zamasu uses the SDB to become immortal > Where we're at right now in Super.

 

 

So by the looks of things:

There are four known timelines in Dragon Ball; the Present Timeline, Trunks' Timeline, "Cell" Timeline and the Unseen Timeline.

 

Currently we've seen 3/4 Zamasus. Present Zamasu, Future Zamasu and Goku Black Zamasu. Meaning Goku Black or another Zamasu must have been from the Cell Timeline or Unseen Timeline.

 

 

Man epidsode 61 was something else.  There were some great moments.  Goku going rage mode against Zamasu and black was awesome.  I epsecially loved Goku giving that backfist to Zamasu, as if he was saying "Boy wait your turn!"   And then Trunks having that new form just....wow.
