I tired of this stuff about "who should be with or should not be in love". In truth, none of these pairups exist nor will happen. Honestly, why do people think that characters in Kingdom Hearts will fall in love? The franchise never showed any love. This isn't Fire Emblem or some waifu game where you can battle enemies while making pair ups. This is Kingdom Hearts.

Kingdom Hearts always been about slaying Heartless with a keyblades. There's never a time for love. Only action and a confusing story is needed in the franchise. That people actually think someone gonna fall in love makes me laugh. Think your dream KH pairup will happen? Likely not. All Kingdom Hearts pairups are simply lies or just uncorrectly seen. Let me explain more clearly. Starting with SoKai. Sorry to break it to you, but SoKai isn't a thing or ever will happen. I feel sorry for the players who played KH2 and think that in one little cutscene, which Sora gave Kairi a horrible hug, that SoKai is real. Sora doesn't even love Kairi as a girlfriend. He see her as a sister. Why? Look at when Sora rescue Kairi. Anyone else would kiss if your boyfriend or friend saved you from a prison. Also goes to Sora x Riku too. Because of the bromance of KH DDD and Recoded doesn't mean anything. They see as brothers or best friends. Same goes to that small cutscene where Sora brings the wounded Riku to the Ocean in KH2. Because the way he was "carrying" Riku doesn't mean anything. Some games does the same thing. Doesn't mean they are in love. Might as well make Mario X Luigi a thing if that meant they're in love. But they're not. And never will. Same goes to others pairups. Let's see, hmm?

 

Roxas X Axel- This is clearly not true. Axel is best friends with Roxas due having memories of Lea. (Lea's friends with Ventus)

Xion x Roxas- Because of one sad scene means they are love? Hahaha nope. They're best friends. (As Roxas said)

Terra x Aqua- Could happen, but likely not due to Terra being a seeker of Darkness. Or just lost his body.

Ventus x Vantis- Clearly never will happen.

 

So, can we stop these pairups? Because clearly, they never happen. Even if KH1 gets a PS4 remaster.

You had me until the 'SoKai will never happen' thing. I dislike shipping in...well, anything, really, but KH especially as much as the next guy, but SoraXKairi has been hinted at very clearly. They are not boyfriend and girlfriend but instead friends who are clearly interested in each other. There is a romantic interest burgeoning underneath but both characters realize that despite being universe-saving heroes essentially, they're also kids. Dating isn't really something that's a priority to them right now. The whole thing with the paopu fruit and Kairi's good luck charm symbolizes that.

 

Will they go so far as to kiss in KHIII, thereby showing that they definitely want to be in a relationship? I dunno. Probably not. But I wouldn't go so far as to say there's never going to be an evolution to their relationship afterwards, especially if Nomura bumps up the characters' ages. At the very least, there's much more overt hinting for SoraXKairi than Roxas and Xion.

 

Everything else is dumb, though. I'm not even sure how serious you're being but deese my thoughts

True, anyone else would kiss their loved one if they were saved from a prison and is safe from immediate harm. At the time of the cutscene, they were still in hostile territory; anyone with a sane mind would know to hold off on powerful displays of affection until they were out of the area and secured safety from retaliation by threats [this case, the organization]. A hug is appropriate for that kind of situation; enough affection to convey the message, but not as emotionally stressing as a kiss.

 

What do I mean by that? Here's a hypothetical scenario that parallels what happened in KH2: You're in a contested hotel where your loved one has been taken hostage. You're in enemy territory, the enemy is charging down the staircase, are actively looking for you, and the kingpin is several floors up. After freeing your loved one by their captor, what would be appropriate for that immediate moment?

 

Kissing at that moment would be nice, but not fitting for the scene, both in terms of cutscene and state of mentality. Had she kissed, Sora would have most likely pushed her away, saying somewhere along the lines of "I'm not done yet. I need you to be safe. Get out of here while I finish the job," thus cheapening the act [and giving SoRiku shippers more fuel.] Kissing is typically reserved for those tender moments, where it happens slowly, and they stay dazed for a while after as they get lost in the moment and feelings, which is NOT something you want happening with hostiles around you. It's emotionally traumatizing: You're going from blissful, sincere happiness of seeing your loved one again, to "ENEMIES IN THE COURTYARD!!!" the next moment. 

 

What Kairi did towards Sora was appropriate for the situation, and had they been somewhere safer with no immediate objectives [defeating Ansem, finding Riku], I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that they would have kissed.

 

About Xion x Roxas: C'mon! Think of the implications of who they are! Roxas is Sora's body, and Xion is Kairi "As Sora remembers her." Roxas x Xion would be a literal personification of Sora's wet dreams [which would warrant some explanation to Kairi in the future]

I wrote about this in another topic and I was so sure I was gonna get a lot of backlash but I honestly don't see people's obsession in making characters date. It just feels so uneccessary I suppose? I'm not sure how to put it but it's so nice to see characters who can be friends and not forced into a romantic relationship.

Wow, you are... really out of touch with the, if you'll excuse the pun, heart of the series. Is KH a dating sim? Not at all, but it's about more than dramatic fights and convoluted storylines. It's about the heart and what the heart is. The heart is responsible for emotions like friendship and, yes, love. You singled out that scene in KH2 but the truth is there where many, many hints long before that, going all the way back to the first game in fact, that Sora and Kairi have romantic feelings for each other.

 

Just a hug in KH2.

And a scene before that when Sora is imagining dancing with Kairi with visual effects straight out of a romance manga.

And a scene before that when Donald and Goofy tease him about blushing while thinking of Kairi when Elizabeth and Will are reunited.

And his conversations with Naminé in CoM about who is most important to him.

And Naminé telling Larxene that messing with Sora's memories will jut make his feelings for Kairi stronger.

And the scenes at in the Secret Place at the end of both KH and KH2.

And several of the conversations Sora and Kairi had in the first game.

And Riku teasing Sora about wanting to share a poupu with Kairi.

 

I think there's more than enough evidence that Sora's and Kairi's feeling for each other are romantic in nature even if nothing comes of it.

The Twilight series has really screwed up the expectations of young love huh? :/SoraxKairi IS happening. Those two have only ever been 14 and 15 for the series (with the exception of BBS), so their interactions with each other are actually very normal.

You do come to realise that a game that has the word "Hearts" has connotations of romance? to add to that, it is a Disney property which is a company that defines and redefines romance in popular culture, therefore, pairups are inevitable. Just accept that it will happen eventually and let people get on with their fanfiction.
