We know that in Dream Drop Distance the young xehanort that we battle is supposed to be xehanort from the most distant past right, allegedly before he was able to wield a keyblade or knew anything about light & darkness. Ansem SOD told him about the future and had him travel through time. What i dont get is why young xehanort just went along with it. Is he just inherently evil enough to just go through time and help spread darkness & take over bodies, or was he just easily manipulated. What do you guys think?

I think young Xehanort, on some instinctual level, knows that things are 'destined' to happen the way they do and he's willing to go along with whatever his future self has in store because, like he said in the KHIII trailer, 'the future...it's already been written.' He is destined to go along with their plan and he's clearly amoral, so I don't think the idea of what he's doing being 'evil' really concerns him at all.

I think he figured if he's destined to turn evil than he might as well let it happen. It's kinda like what he said at the end of the ReCoded scenes in 2.5

If you haven't noticed Xehanort is obsessed with the idea of DESTINY.( right or wrong and ironically since he fabricates lots of circumstances to his liking) He thinks this is what's meant to happen regardless so why fight it? Plus there's the tome of prophecy and we don't know exactly what's in it so that could be another reason why. But who knows...maybe it's still possible for him to turn against his future self in KH3. I wouldn't completely rule it out.

Well, Young Xehanort said that when he would go back to his own time, he'd forget about everything that happened in the events of Dream Drop Distance, and he'd grow up to become the man he is in the Kingdom Hearts series.  It's like he already has a predetermined path, and even though he has no memory of being told that said path is his, he'll follow it without question, which will lead him, in turn, to question the very essence of destiny, and of what comprises the balance of light and darkness.  This, in turn, will lead to curiosity about the outside world, and then to the Keyblade War, and then his obsession with recreating it will grow with the years. This is the destiny that has been laid before him, and everything he has done till now, for good or ill, has affected everyone.  Young Xehanort didn't seem worried about all this, because at his age, he was curious about the world, so maybe he thought of the events of Dream Drop Distance as an opportunity to learn more about the outside world, ya know?

Remember the cutscenes in the E3 2015 trailer? He already thinks the future is pitch black and there is nothing to change it. He already starts getting cozy with darkness and we see that rift begin then between him and Eraqus. He has always been this way.

Xehanort's absurd powers of making people do what he wants basically goes full circle to the point where he can manipulate himself.
