So, what's the deal with people saying 2.8 is gonna push back Kingdom Hearts 3

Posted

Now, if this is the title that was being referred to on the Linkin page for 2.9, then we know that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue has been in development for quite a while now along Kingdom Hearts 3. So isn't it fair to say that Kingdom Hearts 3 could still be released Late 2016? I mean there have been several franchises that have had 2 games release in one year, so who is it to say that Kingdom Hearts can't do the same. As well, it's not as like 2.8 is really doing anything different from 1.5 and 2.5. It's all ready been said that KHX Back Cover is going to be a short story, which is probably not going to take all too much of their resources. In theory they only really need to worry about DDDHD and BBS 0.2 and DDDHD is just making things HD. Now, depending how long they want to make BBS 0.2, that could take quite a bit of resources, but being that it is being developed on the UR4 engine they probably already have several assets from Kingdom Heart 3 they could use for 0.2. With that being said, can we stop calling people stupid for hoping for a Late 2016 release date?

Thing is, how can something be pushed back when we don't know the release date?

Yeah, Nomura did say they already know about a release date but only internally, but 2.8 was probably way under developement back then.

A fair few people were hoping KHIII would have a late 2016 release; II.8 pretty much deconfirms that.

I still believe it could be a 2016 release. If they had been working on this since they finished 2.5, it could be still possible. With Kingdom Hearts 3 being how it is right now with mainly just mass world creation that needs to be done I don't see why not.

With all the stuff that's pushed it back in the past I wouldn't be surprised if 2.8 set back KHIII by another two years.

I doubt the development of 2.8 has pushed back 3, they were able to work on 3 while fixing up 1.5 and 2.5. Plus, I feel like KH3 was never set to come out in 2016 with FFXV coming out the same year, there's no way SE would sell their two biggest RPGs in the same year and leave nothing for 2017. The announcement of 2.8 just more clarifies that it won't come 2016.

People should be pissed at no one other than themselves. There was no release date announced, not even a release window.

Besides, FFXV is coming out in 2016 so it was pretty much obvious KH3 isn't coming till 2017 or 2018. Hoping (and expecting) for 2017.

Why does FFXV even matter when it comes to KH3? They are two DIFFERENT properties. So what if they release the same year as each other? I main yeah they are two main series games and they both have the potiential of being very successful, but unless I hear Square say they are not going to release Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV in the same year, I'm still gonna believe that Kingdom Hearts 3 and FFXV are going to be coming out the same year, with 2.8 coming out as well. If I'm proven wrong? So what. I'm sick and tired of people making assumptions about release dates just because another game is coming around that same time and it HAPPENS to be that it is being developed by Square Enix. I don't know, you don't know. There no point in saying something confirms or deconfirms something. I'm pretty sure Square will do anything that makes them the most money, not because one or more of their properties is being released in the same year.

And what will make them the most money, is spreading out their main series games, while still keeping interest in kh3 with 2.8. They just won't release their 2 biggest games in the same year.

A  large chunk of the kingdom hearts community believes that Square only consists of kingdom hearts and final fantasy and that the development and sales of one directly affects the other. They fail to see that Square has several HUGE games being constantly released extremely close to each other. Worst off, without confirmation of anything, they state their opinions as fact, confirming and de-confirming things themselves. No one has any basis to say when kingdom hearts 3 will come out, it could be 2016 because they have a release date in mind or, it could be released in 2017 because a kingdom hearts game is releasing next year already.

Dragon quest 11 is their second biggest franchise and is releasing next year with final fantasy 15.  Hitman, Just Cause 3  and Tomb Raider (3rd biggest) are also some of their biggest franchises and are releasing not even two months apart.  The sales don't affect each other as greatly as you think.

EDIT: Deus Ex is also releasing next year as well as world of final fantasy and Star Ocean 5.

I'm pretty sure that this hasn't pushed back Kingdom Hearts III at all.  Rather, as the title of the game suggests, it'll serve as a prologue to KHIII, a sweet warm up for what's to come!  Since Nomura always releases a KH game per year, then 2.8 will be 2016's KH game, while III could release in 2017!  Why do I think this?  Well, it's like I've stated before!  2017 is the 15th Anniversary of the series, so what better way to celebrate it than releasing Kingdom Hearts III to the world?  That's what I believe! For a moment, I thought that KHIII would release in 2016, but with 2.8 now in the picture, I'm guessing they'll save KHIII for their 15th Anniversary game, ya know? :3

Because some people are more interested in having a "internet sensation" game as opposed to actually enjoying what the series is already offering.
