My guess: Late summer release in Japan with a mid to late spring release elsewhere. Or maybe SE is smarting up and just going with an international release this time, especially since they released an official english version of the trailer at (roughly) the same time they revealed it with the japanese trailer.

I seriously doubt the english version will come out more than a month after the japanese release, "in development" must mean casting and recording for X back cover and BBS 0.2. So to anyone worried about delays, don't be.

My guess is it's the same excuse for Type-0 HD, it's on the new-gen consoles. Is it bull? Maybe, probably. But at this point it's what should be expected of SE. These are the same people that priced a mobile port of FF at twenty dollars.

I doubt the development of 2.8 has pushed back 3, they were able to work on 3 while fixing up 1.5 and 2.5. Plus, I feel like KH3 was never set to come out in 2016 with FFXV coming out the same year, there's no way SE would sell their two biggest RPGs in the same year and leave nothing for 2017. The announcement of 2.8 just more clarifies that it won't come 2016.

This, or, it could be a prologue to KH3 in the style of MGSV Ground Zeroes.
