Why do so many people believe that Disney would allow Mickey to receive bad light?

Everyone keeps thinking that Mickey just abandoned Aqua in the RoD or kept her location/status a secret for selfish reasons.

There is no way Disney would allow that, I mean they only allowed Mickey to have 1 scene in the first KH, that's how strict they are.

Mickey will always be the good guy, even if he is just a side character. Just like Yen Sid.

I did not say it was that necessarily but more of "it better have a rational believable explanation for this so I'm not like "ugh!" and SMH". People can think about things and question things especially if there is no answer given currently. There have been other storyline situations where I felt things were handled poorly and I hope this has more thought put into it. Isn't that why we are all here? Honestly even though Mickey doing it on purpose is an option I was referring to 'this might be another occasion where this was sloppily explained".

idk they wanna see a dark and edgy mickey mouse i guess

Hey I'm not talking about you. :P I've just seen many people who would think it would be cool or just don't think it's weird. Just saw HMK's video and the video along with the comments come to the conclusion that would be pretty normal. I mean, yeah it would be, if he wasn't the Disney mascot lmao.

That's where you went wrong my friend. HMK. Youtube. Muahaha! You expected too much :P

Exactly. I said this in Transcendent Key's thread. There is no way they would demonise Mickey, like you said he is Disney's Mascot! In regards to Flaming Lea, we touched on this yesterday how the writing here could be very poorly written since it wouldn't make sense for Mickey to not know about Terra or his whereabouts since Aqua would have told him. But anyway, that is a different matter all together.

And then suddenly Mickey becomes the main antagonist in the next Saga xD

I doubt any of us believe that Mickey shanked Aqua and left her to die in the RoD, it is just completely out of Mickey's character to leave a friend behnd.  Many of us probably are just wondering what kind of circumstances would prompt Mickey to leave Aqua in the RoD.

That being said, I wish Disney would loosen their reigns on their properties and characters and allow Square to do a whole lot more with them.

I really don't know about all this.  I want to get to the bottom of this already, but we've still got ourselves a bit of waiting to go before we're able to see what really happened!  Whatever the reason Mickey left Aqua in the Realm Of Darkness, it having been by choice or lack of choice thereof, is just something we'll have to wait and see.  I came up with a theory that maybe Mickey momentarily lost himself to the darkness, but yeah, lol, my theory was flawed. xD

Epic Mickey depicted him in a darker light. It's time for Kingdom Hearts to do the same. At the end of the day, Mickey is ambivalent to Darkness.

Whilst many won't, I agree with you. My issue is that Kingdom Hearts Mickey is not the same as other versions of Mickey, the KH Mickey has his own personality, experiences and ambitions. Whilst he is a good character, I think all the characters should experience an element of ' change' I mean we know Sora the most happiest guy will become more Mature, so why not flesh out Mickey as well? Whether it be making him more dark or making him as a character have an element of tragedy too? This can only increase the climax for KH3.

Exactly. There's so much that could make Mickey tragic. Now that Disney have the rights back to Oswald The Lucky Rabbit, Square Enix could dive into the possibility of reviving Oswald. He could have been Yen Sid's disciple but because of his obsession with darkness he was banished to timeless river. The mantle of Mickey taking over the role of somebody else Keyblade wielding position could be a bit much for him at times and that alone could add an element of tragedy.

if we really want to continue this, why not have a party of Mickey's initial dislike to the darkness caused by his brother's fall, or if that is too far fetched, why not let something happen in the Realm of Darkness? Just because it might be sad, it doesn't mean it should be avoided, I'm hoping Aqua's ' encounter' is a heavy hitter in some capacity rather than for plot purpose alone and also Mickey's encounter to have some real significance

Same here, Mickey has been depicted to be subtle and have hidden intentions in a variety of his media.

Conflict for the sake of good character development is always welcome in Kingdom Hearts!
