I've been thinking for a while on who this "Lost Master" could be.

 

What we know so far

-He trained Xehanort & Eraqus (possibly even Yen Sid) and eventually named them masters

-Considering how Eraqus tried to kill Ventus and Xehanort went on with his own intentions, the original master probably hated darkness but embraced the light.

-He told them about the story of Keyblade War and how it's his favorite story

-Xehanort brings up the lost masters who started the war but Eraqus claims he "never heard of them" so most likely the Lost Master trust Eraqus more than Xehanort to tell him that side of the story but to not tell Xeahnort.

-Xehanort's eventual keyblade is hanging on the wall and it's said Xehanort's keyblade is special in someway.

 

Who do I think he is? Well this may seem a bit odd but Walt Disney. Considering the possible age of Xehanort, most likely the "Lost Master" has passed way. But before hand he may have had a similar life to his real one. His mother's death with asphyxiation could parallel with the Kingdom Hearts story where she was killed by darkness resulting in the hatred of darkness and making Eraqus the way he was. However; like in the real world he blames himself for his mother's death so while training Xehanort & Eraqus, he began leaving them more and more often and eventually Xehanort would begin to feel like he's not being trained like he's supposed to so when the master leaves he begins snooping around and finds the information he knows now. Which would explain why Xehanort knows of these ancient masters and tells Eraqus to stop the facade.

 

Also it would be more appropriate considering Yen Sid's master could be the same person considering the relationship between the 3 (Xehanort, Eraqus & Yen Sid) mentioned at the beginning of BBS but never really explained. And considering Yen Sid was teaching Mickey would make it all the more fitting.

The Lost Master's refer to the Foretellers from Chi and Unchained Chi. They existed long before Eraqus and Xehanort came into the picture.

I heard somewhere that Eraqus' and Xehanorts master was a descendant of the lost masters or like one in a long line of keyboard masters or something. Is this true or just a rumour?

thats almost impossible seeing as the keyblade war took place around hundred years ago, meaning the generation just before xehanort lived through the war, but i wouldn't doubt if nomura played some bs trap card to trick us; he has been hanging out with kojima too much lately, and its getting kind of annoying.

Rumor, neither Nomura or anyone else on the staff has said anything of the sort and there's been no new info or updates that would suggest that either. All we know about Xehanort and Eraqus' Master is that his favorite story is the tale of the Keyblade War. There's nothing to link him to this Master of Masters, at least not right now.

That's rumor Nomura has mentioned any such connections other them being important to the main story.

I think you're confused. The "Lost Masters" doesn't refer to Eraqus and Xehanort's Master. It refers to the Keyblade Masters that started the Keyblade War. I maintain that Yen Sid is their Master. Some people say that's impossible because Eraqus calls him and "old friend" not "my former master" I say that's because it's been so long since he became a master himself that he sees Yen Sid as a peer, rather than a superior. People also say it's impossible because Yen Sid himself never says so, but we all know both him and Mickey have a habit of keeping secrets until absolutely necessary. Besides, Yen Sid was retired by the time of BbS so it makes sense that he'd be part of the generation before Xehanort and Eraqus. He also knows how rebellious a student Xehanort was. I'm thinking his relationship with Xehanort is a lot like Dumbledore's relationship with Tom Riddle.

Same, if the keyblade war happened 100 years ago, then it just takes away from the epicness of a war that changed the course of the KH universe. Especially when the main villain's sole purpose is to discover the story his master, who most likely lived through it, refused to tell him. Its just kinda dumb

There seems to be a lot of confusion in this thread!

I don't think in 1 billion years that Disney would let the actual WALT Disney be the master of the main villain. Also, it doesn't work or fit by any means. However, if their master was named Walt or something like that, then cool that's fine. But not the real Walt Disney, i dislike that idea.

 

Xehanort and Eraqus' master being the 6th foreteller is a FAN THEORY/SPECULATION. In no way is it actually confirmed, but it is highly possible and is actually what i believe to be true.

there's a part where Cynical goes back to BBS. If you play as Terra and visit Yen Sid at a certain point, he says 'I once walked the path of master alongside Eraqus and Xehanort'. That basically confirms he was the 3rd apprentice, in no way was he their master, they are all the same age roughly.  I don't see how you can discredit that information. 

 

Lost masters refers to the Foretellers, the Master of Masters is the Foretellers Master. So the Foretellers are Masters. 6 keyblade masters, its clear that they were the first keyblade wielders. But that is irrelevant to this topic.

 

Their master was most likely the 6th or a descendant of the 6th foreteller. The foretellers all have a keyblade with an eye on it, so does Xehanort. In the extra cutscene in 2.5, YX states that that keyblade is a will passed down. In the E3 trailer, future MX's keyblade is seen hanging on the wall. So he hasn't recieved it yet, most likely it belongs to their master. 

 

Each foreteller had a keyblade with an eye on it, the 6th's keyblade was passed down to Xehanort. Xehanort has the keyblade of the 6th.

This is basically it (no wonder why you are called "the wise"). The Foretellers are the lost masters. The way you can make the connection is we learn that the Foretellers spark the Keyblade War in KHX and YX in the E3 KH3 trailer said the lost masters started the Keyblade War.

Well, I'm theorising that the Master of Xehanort and Eraqus is the traitorous Foreteller.
