what I mean by the tales of games are games like this one: 

 

I have played 2 "tales of" games. One of which is Tales of Graces^. I have played and finished the game last year. It is my favorite "tales of" game by the way. Right now I'm currently playing Tales of the Abyss and I haven't finished the game yet obviously .

My favorite art style from the series is probably Abyss. Granted, the graphics themselves haven't aged very well, but I think a modern Tales game with the same art direction behind it would look superb. Aside from that, Vesperia is also great, and it is still the best looking game in the series, in my opinion. Love the colors and just the overall look. Graces would be third. I look the more cartoony look to it, and again those colors.

 

Xilla probably has my least favorite. Not because it's bad, but because its been used in 3 games now (Xillia, Xillia 2, Zesteria), a possibly a fourth (Berseria is looking pretty similar), and honestly its just all starting to look too much like the same thing. The character designs are good, but the rest is just... eh. I'd also appreciate it if the colors got a little more vibrant.

I agree that future Tales games should have more vibrant colors. That's why I love Tales of Symphonia 1 and 2's art styles(especially symphonia 2) because of the bright beautiful colors.

Any Tales fan should know that Xillia 2 has the best story in the series, hands down.

Symphonia. Abyss a close second. It's just bogged down slightly because a lot of the story is driven by characters knowing pivotal information and refusing to share it until something bad happens.

Tales of Phantasia.

Why? Because Time Travel, that's why.

Oh God, this is a tough decision!  I really can't say which one has the best story, since all the Tales games I've played have had amazing, intriguing and well developed stories!  There hasn't been one game in the series I haven't liked, and well, for now, I really can't pick a favorite. I think that when I have played more Tales games, I may just have an answer as to which one I think has the best story!

So far I'd say Xillia

I'll agree with Tails, I like Xillia 2. It was very concise and concentrated, which was nice. Graces is a close second. As my first completed JRPG, I very much enjoyed it's simplistic story and morals. It doesn't need to be complicated to be good.

I really enjoyed the story of Tales of Symphonia, there are many beautiful moments in it.

Xillia also has a great story.

Abyss was hands down my favorite story in the series. I found it to be quite fascinating, and I really liked the idea of fonons and how well the concept was developed. Also had my favorite cast (both protagonists and antagonists), though other games have come very close in regards to protagonists.

 

Xillia 2 was definitely my second favorite. The multiple dimensions idea was pretty interesting, and the character side stories were hilarious (Muzet's, on more than one occasion, made me utter aloud "that's just... strange" and I loved every minute of it). It doesn't beat Abyss, though, because overall Abyss had the more intriguing ideas (in my opinion), and I thought Xillia 2's ending just kinda felt flat. It wasn't a bad ending (though I was a bit dissatisfied), but it just didn't feel all that climatic. Maybe it was just me, though.

 

As for the rest of the games I've played (Graces f, Symphonia 1 & 2, Vesperia, Xillia), I wasn't crazy about the story lines. They were all entertaining and enjoyable, but they just didn't stick out as particularly good. Especially Symphonia and Xillia, as their plots in general were kind of boring (I liked the characters, though, which is why I finished both).
